The Curse of the Black Spot

That was a fairly okay episode. Nothing spectacular, but an all right story.

Next week certainly looks much more interesting though!

Rory almost kicked the bucket... again!

I didn't like it; weakest episode for aagggeess.

I was bored halfway through; I hope that's the series low point.

Yeah it was an okay episode...nothing great. I kind of figured it was most likely a teleport of some sort instead of the ghost killing peeps.

And I'd agree with, "why were the Doctor, Amy and the captain put in the stasis like the others?"

Starting to become this:

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Also: Doesn't the TARDIS have *any* medical facilities of it's own?

The Doctor replaced the med bay with a swimming pool and he hasn't looked back since.

Aren't all the rooms on the Tardis "regeneration rooms"?

Perhaps we mean Zero Room.

And I'm also with the 'It was an okay but not a great' episode crowd.

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

I thought this was an exeptionally weak episode. Aside from the obvious homages to PotC, Treasure Island and Master and Commander, it was derivative of Star Trek: Voyager ("please state the nature of the medical emergency") and earlier episodes The Empty Child (alien meditech gone wrong) and The Stones of Blood (spaceship in same location but parallel dimenstion).

And, given that he had seen it all before, the Doctor was unusually slow in figuring it all out...

Oh yeah, and "OMG they killed Rory!"

I really should do something about this signature.

Anyone stateside starting to notice missing scenes? How long was the UK air time?

45 mins. (probably of which 40 was programme).

You guys watching on the new global iplayer? (with ads for U.S viewers).

Interesting they got Lilly Cole as a Mermaid. I expect she was eager to do it because of her birthplace and family upbringing.
I bet her father could of spun her a yarn or two re: mermaid lore.

I think they did Amy a disservice there at the end. Rory wanted her to try to save him because she'd "never give up." She lasted what, 5 breaths into the resuscitation before collapsing in tears and giving up.

Also, in 900 years the Doctor's never learned CPR?

Put my vote in the "weakest episode of Moffatt's run" column.

I've never yet taken a hit from a bad guy skidding across the floor on his keister.

Really? Not Beast Below? Victory of the Daleks? The Lodger? (Although, I liked that one).

Anyway, I was looking through the episode names, and saw that the mid season cliffhanger is called "A Good Man Goes to War". River Song is in prison for killing "A good man".

Dun dun dun!

CPR would be slightly different, if not impossible for a Gallifreyan. Two hearts don't ya know.[/QUOTE]

Yeah, some things the wife and I commented on:

No medbay in the TARDIS?

The Doctor doesn't know CPR?

The Doctor, Amy, and the Captain not put in stasis for their cuts?

And proof that a scene got cut somewhere, what happened to the guy that the Captain's son injured with the cutlass? Last we saw of him (on BBC America at least) was him re-barricading the door after the only un-injured pirate left him behind. We never saw him again, except there at the end. I'm assuming he got taken by the siren, but we never say it.

Side note: Afterwards, Graham Norton had "The Doctor-Donna" as guests, so we watched that too. They were talking about their upcoming turns as Benedict and Beatrice in "Much Ado About Nothing". I'd love to see them in those roles.

Weakest episode of the Matt Smith run so far. Next week looks fantastic though.

I'm watching it via Amazon Instant Video.

I'd love to hear about other options. BBCA only broadcasts via HD services in my area. Online access is only available to HD subscribers, or so I've been told.

I've read in other forums discussing this question and it seems nothing was cut from the US version. The disappearing pirate is something a lot of people have commented on, it was just bad editing/writing or what have you.

This ep will never set the world on fire, but it was a solid, generic Doctor Who story; 'generic' can be taken in both good and bad ways. Personally, I was happy enough with it, but considering all the irons in the fire the show has right now, it can seem a touch pallid.

Unfortunately, with the last redesign it's about 3.8 miles away from the entrance.

He doesn't know Venusian aikido any more... I think he forgets things.

The only explanation I can think of is that I think all the beds were full.
