Anyone else disappointed by this episode?

A new series of Dr Who and no aliens at all, just some creepy little girl and president Nixon?

It doesn't premiere here for another 7 hours - just long enough that I'm going to have to go to work and catch it online later anyway.

On screen guide shows that it's an hour and that it's part 1 of 2, so...*shrug*.

The new ep. doesn't air on BBC America until 9pm (at least that's what my DVR says ).....

Most Doctor Who episodes are around 42 minutes long (plus credits). This makes it roughly the same length as other hour long shows, they shouldn't be removing bits. Of course, a few episodes have been longer, such as a few series endings.

I had forgotten how much I missed that fiesty little ginger Amy...

*le sigh*

A pretty good start to the new season although I was very disappointed at the 'surprise' within the first 15 minutes. It felt cheap and will so obviously be averted/explained/ignored/retconned that it didn't scare me in the slightest. It just felt like a poor attempt to shock the audience.

Other than that, pretty solid and I love the new... um... the... things, with the lighting... ah.... what was I talking about again?

Rory is only slightly less boring, and Moffat is still playing timeline tricks.

I thought it was a decent episode...of course you knew the Doctor wasn't 'dead'...

I actually enjoyed it a fair bit. People can hate on Rory all they want, but I like him. He's fun. He's also the first male companion since the 5th Doctor, so I am glad to see that they're keeping him around.

Love River, but I am wondering how they'll work things out with her. She sould be younger each time we see her, so at some point we may need a new actress if they don't alter her story. I can't see anyone else playing her.

Did you notice the difference in the reaction to Rory from the older Doctor and the younger Doctor? The younger Doctor is almost as pleased to see Rory as he was Amy, but the older Doctor really didn't want to know.

Me thinks something is going to happen that makes the Doctor not like Rory...

Oh, and Mickey-the-idiot qualifies as a male companion, even if only for a couple of episodes. And Wilfred Mott was given official companion status.

I think the River arc will be resolved this series. (Probably River in the space suit)

I really should do something about this signature.

You apparently forgot this fella.

And this fella.

Actually, it was so obviously going to be one or more of the above I didn't even worry about it and went straight into trying to figure out how they were going to do it.

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

The twist is, it won't be any of those.

Oh, and the spaceship - wasn't it the same as the one in The Lodger?

Given my dislike of Giant forehead-giant chin man (Matt Smith) I was hoping for a very secret regeneration into a new doctor. And when that didnt happen, I was kind of hoping that instead of Matt's Doctor being the one waiting for them, it could have been Tennant he got to help out.

I sincerely doubt that. Unless the BBC are happy to end their franchise there.

Either way, somehow there'll be a way out of it hence why it didn't shock me in any way.

And yes, the spaceship was the one from The Lodger, the one the Doctor believed was someone trying to make a TARDIS. Nice to see that come back.

They still have 200 years of Doctor left...

Given how the Moff's mind works, he will expect people to think that, and so the twist will be, there isn't a way out of it, he is really dead this time.
