Stills from the upcoming film, The Amazing Spiderman

Yeah, that weird twitter-style title is meant to mean that while this is a Flikr photo album, the link came from the official Sony Pictures Twitter account and is presumably an official release of said photos.

I guess this film is a reboot of Spiderman instead of a continuation? There are no captions, so I'm completely guessing about the following speculations:

One photo depicts Peter with an older man (Martin Sheen) and woman (Karen Valentine). Uncle Ben and Aunt May? That would be a new take on Aunt May, though I can sort of see Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben given the right material.

Another photo depicts Peter's battle wounds being tended by young, blond girl who, based purely on appearance, suggested to me that she might be Gwen Stacy.

The costume is a bit more "movie superhero" looking this time around. He also has real webshooters instead of the organic webbing they went with in the previous incarnation. The webshooters look pretty authentic, inasmuch as you can use that word in reference to comic book weaponry. heh

Still don't like it.

I kept thinking they would eventually remove the silver bits on the toes of the boots, but I guess not. Thought they were to make the boots more durable for filming and would be edited out.

Looks like he'd going to be tap-dancing.

That actor *looks* like a better Peter Parker than ol' poor-man's-Frodo. And I'm glad to see the mechanical webshooters.

Seen most of these pictures a few weeks ago, I'm surprised someone thought this was new. And yes that's Sally Field as Aunt May and it's Emma Stone (now blond, yuck) as Gwen Stacy.

Yeah, Sally Field. My bad. I've gotten those two mixed up since I was a kid. *sigh*

Sony "tweeted" them today (well, yesterday now that it's after midnight). New or old beyond that, I don't judge other than my having not seen them before.

As with the Sam Raimi version, I still find it a significant suspension of belief that a teenager has the mad sewing skills of Serge the Tailor to make a costume that sophisticated. (Mom was a seamstress, but I had trouble sewing patches on my scout uniforms, so this is something I notice, sorry)

He has the skills of a radioactive orb weaver.

His agility and dexterity are superhuman and he's a genius. I don't find tailoring too far a stretch to pick up quickly for someone with those things going for him.

It will come down to the story and the acting for me. If he's a convincing Peter Parker and a convincing Spider Man in a decent plot I'll be happy.

I thought the same, but they are definitely visible in the trailer

Still, apart from the costume, I am liking the general direction of this version. Still, the last costume was great, why change it for this basket-ball-skin thing?

This is a song about a super hero named Tony. Its called Tony's theme.

The last movie costume was right on the money. I was very impressed by that.

the silver forms the sole of the boots as well, it kinda reminds me of a couple costume bits here, Stealth and Vanguard.
