    PvP Build

For most, if not all builds, movement is a lot more critical in PVP. Moving quickly in and out of range of powers, will annoy your opponent and give you better opportunities to take someone down.

So slotting unsurpressed movement abilities is very critical in PVP. The regular travel powers, except teleport, all have a movements surpression of about 2-3(not sure how long exactly) secs after using an attack, which leaves your vulnerable for attack. Slotting powers like swift, hurdle and combat jumping, will greatly increase your survivability in PVP.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Isnt a immobilize already going -jump? Or do imm-protected people also get -fly even they are not getting immobilized?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well i know that Web grenade has a -jump and I think all immobs have -fly, but I don't think all Immobs have -jump. I think it's a very good ability to have in PVP, especially in combo with slows.

Ice sword is nice for blapping, Ice patch rocks, Shiver is very useful and stalkers will hate you for Chilling Embrace. Blaptrollers ftw!!!111!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, Ice has some good PVP powers. Ýou should also add Chilblain for the -fly component. Very handy when those Villains try to fly off.

I just wish it had more damage though. I enjoy playing my Ice/Ice as it plays very differently from my Fire/Nrg, but the difference in damage is just ridiculous. I say increase the damage in Ice Sword and replace the LV38 power with something that hits very hard, like Total Focus. Also, a -jump component on Chilblain would kick [censored] .

I'll bring one of my lv 50 Sonic Defenders I think... or my Kheldian

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of your four level 50 sonic defenders? Sonic Man, Sonic Boy, Sonic Girl and Sonic Woman? YOU'RE LYING! I WILL BE FIRST, DAMNIT!

Also, you don't have a kheldian. I know you don't because of all the time you've ranted about how you hate them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but that could all be part of a cunning plan to make us think he doesn't have one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Damn right, I'll be there on my army of Kheldians all seperated onto different accounts and linked together with macro's and wireless keyboards. I'm heading straight for Hami. If you're quick you might get a hit in before I kill him.

Ice primairy has some gain from boost range too. Frost breath cone increase quite alot, you can pop Blizzard quit far away from you and bitter ice blast gets a normal power range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, it should be quite fun. With Boost Range, it's almost like you have a snipe . Personally I think the Ice Primary benefits most from powerboost as well. The slows should be more effective and the hold durations should be longer.

When they finally fix it so that Blizzard can be buffable, it should be quite fun to see one buffed with Boost Range, Powerboost, Aim and Build.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Depends on your primary and if you PvP and your other powers. Generally you need boost range if you plan on PvPing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    what he said...

I'd say it depends a bit more on your primary as well. If you have a secondary effect that you want to boost, than Powerboost is for you. My Fire/Nrg doesn't really benefit from it that much, so I took it out. I'd still like it back for boosting the tohit buff on aim and build up though. Also, if you have a self heal like Aid Self, powerboost will boost it very well.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
becasue i play something Called Counterstrike:source, and i'm sorry, but compared to that, PvP in CoH tends to dull me out a bit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    BAH, CS 1.6 ftw!!!

Sounds like Union has some nice PVP fights going there. I just wish they'd create one big server connecting PVP zone, that doesn't require us to load the test server.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
What are the musts for a pvp build, if I go that way?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I don't really know for sure. I can only tell what powers I've taken for PVP. I don't think it's possible to play this type of build like the regular blapper, as the damage is just too low. I think, now more than ever, you should focus on stacking your slows, completely destroying your opponents chance of fighting back.

I use Chilling Embrace, Shiver and Snow Storm from the Epic pool. Ice Sword for toggle dropping, Freeze ray and Freezing touch for holds, Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, Bitter Ice Blast, Ice Sword, Aim and Build up for Damage, Chillblain for -fly, Hibernate from the Epic pool for healing/panic button, Ice Patch and Blizzard for fun and perhaps untapped potential.
  12. Well it really depends on what you're planning on doing with it. I'd defenitely pick different powers for PVP then I would for PVP. Also, I'd say that Ice/Ice was hit pretty damn hard by ED damage wise. The damage on the secondary was already pretty damn weak, but the primary made it ok.

I'd focus more on control type powers, like Shiver, Ice Storm, Ice patch and Chilling embrace. Start controlling mobs with holds, slows and knockdowns, then start picking them off one by one with your single target attacks.

I'd skip powers like health, stealth, Frozen Fists(Ice bolt does similar damage, but faster).
  13. I'm assuming you'll be using this in PVE as I don't see you slotting 2 acc's on ever attack. I don't see the point then in putting all those tohit buffs on aim and build up, as there is very little to no enemies in the game that require that much accuracy to hit.

I'd save all those slots and put either some end reducs or another recharge on all your attacks(except for Ice bolt).

Why not take Frost Breath for AoE damage? Why are you taking stealth and slotting it with defense buffs? It's a waste of slots.

    Ice/Nrgy Blapper

    [ QUOTE ]
Iv jsut built a ice/nrgy blaster 4 pvp, i need the perfect pvp build for her, if anyone wnats me to give me 1 id be very gratefull

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't you prefer to find out what works best for you instead of someone else telling you what to do? You'll probably enjoy it a lot more.

The thing is that Captain Freon has made his build according to his playstyle. What works well for him will not guarantee to work well for anyone else. PvP is a combination of build, skill and experience.
  15. Mesmer

    Blizzard

It's not capped like the other nukes, because it's not like a regular power. It's summon type power, which means that the Blizzard is kind of like a Pet. Good luck trying to hit above the other Nukes AoE caps though, it's pretty much impossible without a troller backing you up. I'm looking forward to when you can buff it with aim and build up though.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry for the lack of accuracy and any offence it caused

With regards to tanks: Why is everyone saying stone tanks? THey tend to be left to last and only attacked courtesy of taunt. No tank is going to fall fast. Ice tanks have better mez protection, a debuff that will effect everyone around (not just the ice tank) and wont be crippled by slow movement and reduced damage like stone / granites. Just my 2 influence, but I dont rate stone tanks in PvP, with the exception of the much liked psi resistance

    [/ QUOTE ]

    agreed.

While stone tanks are very good at absorbing damage, they tend to fill a more "traditional" tank role in PVP. What people don't seem to realize is that for most builds/AT, especially damage dealers(i count tank as a damage dealer), in PVP, movement is everything. A stone tank is just too slow. The only way I'd field a stone tank in PVP is if i had a dedicated kinetic defender speedboosting him all the time.

I'm with Imaginary. I'd prefer that the defender and controller work together to form an almost unpenetrable defense(Force Bubble or Hurricane + all kinds of buffs/heals) and have the ability to immediately take out 1 , 2 or maybe 3 critical teammembers from the opposition, using either TK, Detention field or Sonic Cage and other assorted mezzes. In the worst situation you end up with odds of 5-4 and in the best situation 5 - 2, which is favourable in any case.

Meanwhile the 3 other team members go around hitting stuff in the face as fast and as hard as possible. */ice tanks and */sr scrappers have the advantage, as they have resistance to slows, meaning they can almost always close in fast for the melee kills. Ice/Nrg blaster for obvious reasons as they combine good ranged damage with awesome melee damage and have mezzes as well.

My TP got supressed in sirens last night and i was up against 3 trollers ( wasn't held ). Had lots of debuffs and all sorts of thingies on me : sets were : earth/storm x2 + rad/emp.

Also i don't think there's any way to block the rad debuffs or remove them off of you ( maybe toggle drop ? but you wouldn't be able to do that with the debuffs on you :P )

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have never had my TP surpressed, so i have no idea what you're on about there . Could be that you were slowed so badly, it wouldn't recharge or something.

Also, you can try dropping rad debuffs with Force bolt, as it has a minor toggle drop effect. You should be able to hit straight through the acc debuff with Force bolt if you slot it properly. It has base accuracy of +40%, so if you 3 slot it with accuracy, you can hit through any acc debuff.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
...a tad more downtime for resting and such...

    [/ QUOTE ]

resting??? That's what you do in between missions man. Blaster teams=Godly power btw. Add 2 trollers to a 6 man blaster team for a bit of aggro control/debuffing/buffing and you can take on anything this game can throw at you... anything.

ps. Kheldians in squid form does not count and will never count as a blaster. That's just a a squid, fry it up with some garlic and serve when done.
  19. If the only thing that truly bothers you is the way some villains behave in chat, i suggest turning off villain chat in the game options. There's no need for you to have villain broadcast chat on, unless you go to the PVP zones just to do villain broadcast chat. In fact I think it might help you to turn of villain chat completely and stay in touch with your villain helpers, completely through the global chat network.

I've read posts like this before and a lot of people seem much happier after they've turned off villain chat.
  20. I wouldn't bother going into PVP without SO's nowadays. With the increased player defense, it's just impossible to do anything without SO's. Standard PVP slotting is 2 accuracy on every attacks. That's at least double the accuracy you get from the 3 DO's you have slotted now.

By the way, you've made a pretty good build choice for PVP. Although my controller is not Illusion, i do use Force Field as my secondary. It matures a bit late though, with the defining power being Force Bubble, which you get at lv 38. You can only enjoy that in Warburg or higher though.

Also, if stalkers annoy you with their Assasin Strike, get repulsion field. It will interrupt their AS and drop their hide as well. That's they way I use it in Siren's Call and that's the only reason I have it really . Very effective for just that purpose though

A strategically popped Break Free will stop the stun landing, and even if your toggles are dropped you can click them back on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, for the love of god, do not waste your time by trying to get your toggles back up. A blaster running aim+build up will kill you in the time it takes you to get them back up. I say pop a break free, to prevent mezzing, hit your self heal, if you have one and pound him into the ground. Blasters are squishy after all. I guarantee you, you will lose if you waste time trying to get toggles back up. Any time I fight someone with my blaster and i see them trying to get their toggles back up, I already know I've won.

Either run, or hit them back....hard.
  22. Mesmer

    help me

I'm assuming your referring to a Siren's Call fight. Blappers rule in Siren's because they can knock off your toggles. Once you get your 32+ uber defense/resistance whatever power, you'll have a much better chance of beating them. This means Warburg or the future lv 50 PVP zone.

However, if you're a Fire Brute and you get Rise of the Phoenix at lv 32.... you're dead. Enjoy Rise of the Phoenix though . I'd say the same goes for Dark Armour, but they can PBAOE fear, which is very annoying for a blapper.

Which brings me to another point. Use Mez attacks. Most blappers will not have any mez protection, unless they bring break free's or are in a good team. Touch of Fear if you have Dark Melee, Stun or Total Focus if your Energy Melee, Seismic Smash for Stone melee (or any of the knockdowns it has), Knockout Blow if you're Superstrength. Again Fire gets screwed as Fire melee doesn't seem to have any mezzes.
  23. Same problem for us really. I have no characters on Test at all right now. And the Copy tool is mantained by US based support I think, so I don't think it will be fixed before 17:00 tomorrow.

Corrupters are very good with an 8 member team. The PD's have some corrupters left over from when we first ventured into Bloody Bay and killed a lot of heroes on their own base beach the night before CoV went live

Have a word with Mesmer, Nightbringer or Imaginary, they were the brains behind the 'impossible to beat' villian team. Killing lvl 50 heroes full slotted with SOs when you were only fitted with TOs was some of the best fun I've had.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Man that was fun. We were the first villain team ever in the zone and we kicked so much [censored]. An 8 man team with almost all rad secondary's. A mix of Fire and Ice primary and one Sonic. We spammed so much debuffs we couldn't be hit and when we were hit, we quickly healed it with our healing blanket. All this on red training enhancement.

To be honest I am surprised nobody has done it since. All I've seen are hordes and hordes of stalkers in the PVP zones, but never an all curruptor team.

ps. my corruptor should be around lv 26 now, I haven't played him in a long time. It's difficult to play when you're not teaming with the regular team, seeing that he has no stamina and no travel power. It was a full team build. It was good while it lasted though, would be nice to repeat that in Siren's Call some time.

    Pools:
    - Concealment: Stealth, Grand Invis, Invis, Phase Shift
    - Fitness: Swift, Hurdle, Health, Stamina
    - Flight: Hover, Fly, Group Fly
    - Teleport: Recall Friend
    - Flame Mastery: Bonfire, Fire-Shield, RotP

    - All Ranged Attacks fully slotted (50++ SO): 3x DMG, 2x ACC, 1x RecRed.
    - Nova Slotted (50++ SO): 6x DMG.
    - All Buffs (Health, Stamina, DMG Res., Def. Enh.) 6-slotted 50++ SO's.

No chance whatsoever. It doesn't even matter what build the scrapper has. You've got no holds or toggle droppers and no way to defend against the incoming damage. You'll probably have difficulty taking on anything other than defenders with this build.
