Power Boost/Boost Range
I've taken both and find each has its uses. Power Boost for increasing my hover speed in combat, buffing up the To Hit of Build Up/Aim, and aiding in knocking down foes. Boost Range is great for when I'm needed to pull something or need to fire out of range of another group.
Powerboost is a gr8 power, doubles the effects of all your secondaries, so if you use your energy melee's it'll double the disorient duration, or double the ACC buff of Aim and Buildup, double your flight or run speed, double your Knockback distance etc etc.
Boost Range i believe is essential for an Energy blaster, it's pretty much perma str8 out of the box with a RECRED in the free slot and u'll definately see the difference, you'll be able to use Power Blast at the distance Snipe can hit so can easily drop something before i gets in range of you. Very useful on outdoor maps.

/em Agree wholeheartedly.
As an EN/EN blaster I'm kind of sceptical to power boost since it enhances secondary powers with 100% (The SS planner)
Having my knockback distance increased not to mention happening on every attack sounds too annoying to even try based on my current fighting style.
It works something like this: Fire off attack, Flail arms around shouting "Come back", run after Foe until in range again, Repet until Foe either dead or you no longer can see your team.
As for boost range it's probably very useful for pure blasters but as an blapper I tend to keep in melee range anyway.
Depends on your primary and if you PvP and your other powers. Generally you need boost range if you plan on PvPing.

what he said...
I'd say it depends a bit more on your primary as well. If you have a secondary effect that you want to boost, than Powerboost is for you. My Fire/Nrg doesn't really benefit from it that much, so I took it out. I'd still like it back for boosting the tohit buff on aim and build up though. Also, if you have a self heal like Aid Self, powerboost will boost it very well.
Ice primairy has some gain from boost range too. Frost breath cone increase quite alot, you can pop Blizzard quit far away from you and bitter ice blast gets a normal power range.

Yup, it should be quite fun. With Boost Range, it's almost like you have a snipe . Personally I think the Ice Primary benefits most from powerboost as well. The slows should be more effective and the hold durations should be longer.
When they finally fix it so that Blizzard can be buffable, it should be quite fun to see one buffed with Boost Range, Powerboost, Aim and Build.

Hmmm, sorry to point out put these 2 seperate paragraphs dont add up
You say you're a blapper......and yet you say ur always chasing the enemy? Energy melee doesnt have KB (unless you use Power Thrust), hence Power Boost would be a gr8 power for you, because it'd double the disorient time of all your blapping moves, making locking down even a boss childs play.
Or if you'r always "flailing your arms" get boost range and use one of those primaries
I htink im just biased towards the Energy secondary buff-liciousness.

yes I'm play as a Blapper and I have the secondary powerset but that doest mean I use it exlusivly. I also quite often use my primary powerset which is also energy and that tend to knockback foes at least half the time. So most of the time I shoot a foe he tends to fly away causing me to run after it. Granted, with another primary Power Boost would be use full but not as I see for a pure Nrg/Nrg Blapper
And why should I get a second boost power just to counteract the first one? That doesn't make any sense.
If the number of powers you could take wasn't limited to the number it is today I'd prolly take boost range but as I said since I tend to stay in melee range, it's not a priority.
I'm a fan of powerboost, with it you can stun bosses...also powerboosted power thrust on lvl 1s in Atlas is just comedy!
Does Power Boost before Boost Range increase the range buff of Boost Range, or not?
So far i know, nope it doesnt.
There was a (unofficial) list what powerboost actualy boosted, range wasnt on the list.

the snipe cap is (or was reduced to following copious Hami farming in the US) 300, base energy snipe is 150, boost range takes it to 262 and thats without any range enhacements so even if powerboost did increase range it would be hard to see the difference.
Of course it shuld be easier to tell on the other attacks

Tried abit yesterday in croatoa (stupid ghost badge), going out of range for a normal power, but would hit with boost range.
Powerboost didnt let me hit him, either the range boost is serious low or it doesnt boost at all.

[/ QUOTE ]Powerboost does not boost range, the discussion is about whether it boosts range BUFFS, or not.
So basically, you'd need to go to a range that's slightly farther than from where you can hit with boost range, then hit power boost->boost range, and see if you can attack.
oh i try again tonight then

Question : Does Boost Range boost Cone Range as well?
100% yes on range (frostbreath FTW!!)
But i dont know actualy how it now works since cone-increase and range-increase are merged. But from what i experience, it boosts both.

What does everyone think about these two powers. I will probably choose one of them when I level to 35, but not sure which is more useful. I am a eng/eng blaster. Has anyone taken these and found them helpful?
