  1. Having not much experience of PvP I'm after thoughts, ideas and suggestions for a build for PvP. Is it better to go for outright damage or go for more stuns and disorients?
  2. Original Hero:
    StreetStalker
    Most Notable Alias(es):
StreetStalker who got renamed StreetHunter after being away too long
    Supergroup(s):
Zero Meridian, Foxbase Alpha and now 47 Ties
    Account Created:
    Pre US beta
    Veteran Rewards Time:
Steadfast, however long that is. Got distracted by WoW, EvE and Battlefield 2/2142

    New Here ...

I saw you running around the other night, if you were confused by being suddenly englufed in flames....that was me
  4. After many, many years of running StreetHunter, I have finally hit 50! I started the character in the US beta (originally with the name StreetStalker) and he's my first 50 so I think I might be among the slowest levelling heroes in Paragon!

Had fun yesterday with Olgramina and Iron Hunter running a few games of Hide and Seek in Atlas in celebration and we managed to give away over 12 million in inf! I hope everyone who joined in had fun and I might run another sometime as soon as my wallet recovers

    Brutes as Tanks

You might be surprised to hear that MMs are better equiped as tanks than Brute, well when they're in bodyguard mode
anyway. The problem is brutes aren't designed to hold aggro so in that team situation you mentioned you should minimise the AoE attacks and focus on single targets and debuffing/healing until the mob are worn down then finish off with your AoEs.
  6. stealth is a great defence as your aggro range is reduced to begin with. I run with stealth and combat jumping personally, acrobatics just makes m life that much easier although saying that, there is no better melee defence than hovering out of arms reach
  7. If you're doing this again, count me in - StreetHunter

    Enlightenment

Well after respecing my blaster at lvl 46 I had a moment of enlightenment myself and I suddenly discovered I didn't have to die on every other mission. Switching from a max damage build has reduced my effectiveness (read that as maximum damage to max mobs) when teaming with a defender/controller who could keep me alive, to a build with holds and disorients and taking so little damage during a mission that I didn't feel the need to pop an insp.

Hell I might go say hell to some stalkers in PvP >

    Defiance

quit whining, now give me my speedboost! :P

_castle_ any timeframe for a resultion to this?
  10. You'll need to position yourself as the distance isn't huge on it, but as your'e a NRG secondary, grab boost range, the n you'll be able to roast huge mobs, maybe use it as a prelude to your nuke to help finish off the stragglers you miss?

    My AR/En Blaster

Nice build although I hate to think how much all that costs! For each of those "sting of the manticore" alone you'll need hamidon goo which are currently going for 2.5 million each..ouch!
  12. Cool, thanks for the info. So as I understand it, if a Stalker gets the drop on you, you're pretty much dead and if you stay still long enough, you're dead and if you try and kill them, they can stop you attacking?

No one else think this is overpowered?
  13. Not much experience with PvP but my inital impression is that you haven't got much of a chance against Stalkers even a melee class like Scrappers.

I'm a MA/SR with loads of IOs with stealth pool and combat jumping with defense buffs in each.

I get the drop on a stalker picking on a controller who's got them mezzed.

I focus chi and get them down to about 5% health in about 30-45 secs before I'm unable to hit them which I guess is placate, but I can still partially see them for a few seconds.

a couple of mins later with all my toggles running, the above powers active and a couple of purples I get AS'd then quickly finished off within a couple of secs as I had no insps left.

Now my build is for PvE, but I thought SR scrappers had a bonus to spot kidden stalkers?

So I'm fighting the urge to shout "NERF STALKERS!!1!!" and asking what should I have done differently to beat them?

    Task Force list

After being away for a while I'm back on CoH with my blaster who is currently lvl 43 and I'm looking to do a few TFs. What's available and what are they like?
  15. Good grief! I respecced yesterday and swapped in boost range. Wow, it really helps tackle big mobs! Flamethrower, buckshot then FA is pretty damn impressive. I have discovered that without any mez protection and combat jumping, I really REALLY hate Illusionists! grr¬

    AR draw root

    can you repost?

AR has been long overdue for some loving. Any info on the huge root that is full auto? Double the damage, half the time would make it far better...
  17. The problem I have with AR is the DoT. Because you don't kill your target straight away as you do with a nuke, you'll get a lot of aggro and take more damage for the mobs unless you have a great tank of course.
  18. Sounds like it's still a handy power but more something you fire towards the end of a big fight. If you use it, how does it fit in with your build?
  19. Is anyone running a taskforce or similar that weekend? I've a lvl 32 scrapper and a lvl 43 blaster available.
  20. After coming back to CoH, I've been trying to find out the current state of the SR power, Elude. With crafted enhancements in quickness, hasten and elude is it possible to get it perma, has it been borked so that it's not worth taking or do I fit it into my build elsewhere?

I'd be interested in seeing hard numbers and sources of info too if you have them.
  21. Best defense is probably hover to stay out the way of most melee damage (depending on celing height and if the bad guy has fly), although probably not much use to a blapper
