I liked it. Clu/Young Flynn still had a few toes in the Uncanny Valley for me, mostly when he moved. When he was still he looked good.
3D worked for me. I guess the director said he thought of the screen as being a window into the TRON world, so there's not much in the way of things coming out at you, it's more about the depth of the scene going in. I think I do like that approach more than stuff constantly flying at my face.
I'm looking forward to the inevitable sequel. -
I use Shuriken on my main, 4 slotted with Thunderstrikes (can't remember which, but I focused on Damage). It does decent enough damage, I have it bound to an extra mouse key to throw at runners so I don't have to give chase. Usually takes care of business. It does recharge fast, and if for some reason you need to spam it like crazy(Apex TF for instance) it seems to actually do noticeable, meaningful damage.
However, if we ever got a Shuriken temp power on the market I'd drop it for Body Mastery, even if it did less damage. -
I haven't read through the entire thread so it's probably been requested before, but:
Everything in Propel and Alakazamreact.
I'm sure there's a list in the game files somewhere of all the random items you can turn into/fling at your enemies. I would like all of them available to us.
Pretty please? -
Quote:The part about it being about preventing nude mods is true, but the nude mods ARE out there, and yet I haven't seen thousands of videos of nude CoH chars, let alone a single one. This was done to prevent Nude hacks. Granted in game we wouldnt be able to see them nude but there would be thousands of Youtube videos of all the pre-teen dreams running around. Not to mention the problem of all the 3ed party downloads that would be out there so that others could make their game City of Nude avatars for others to download that would really just put bugs and spyware on peoples computers that would steal user names and passwords, all and all a very bad door to open.
To the OP: If you can figure out how to do it, go for it. It's not that hard to do, really. Just be aware that it's in the darker shades of the gray area. -
I noticed on the video it specifically said "dictionary". It looks like it's basically just translating words where they lie and not correcting for grammar. The grammatically incorrect spanish as pointed out above was just for show in the video.
It IS pretty cool though, and you can probably get the gist of what the sign is trying to say even if it's not translated to correct grammar.
But I'll wait for the Japanese or Chinese version before I buy. -
It may or may not be related, but you should update your sound card drivers as well (the Realtek stuff). I know there are newer drivers than 2009 available, since I just upgraded my own a couple days ago.
It may or may not help, but I'm using all updated drivers (10.12) on my 5850 and having no problems. So it could be worth a shot. -
10.12s are working fine for me, but I'm still getting the "transparent AA" bug. That is, when something is anti-aliased against a background/object that's using a transparent texture, the AA creates an outline.
Examples: (Click on the picture)
In the first shot you can see this effect around all the furniture and the character. This doesn't happen with every floor, just this one, so I figured I'd use it as an example.
In the second shot you can see it around the character's head, against the computer. This happens not just inside bases, but anywhere there is a texture with transparency, even if only part of the texture is transparent.
If I turn AA off, this effect stops. But of course, I don't have AA anymore. This problem was actually fixed awhile ago, I think just before i17 and Ultra Mode, then it came back and hasn't been fixed since. Pretty annoying.
EDIT: I should mention I'm using a 5850 in Win7 64. -
The one disappointing thing about the arc was I don't think they ever did say what the actual reason was for not allowing everyone to use the system. I mean, I thought I read every clue and piece of mission text, but didn't see the reason explained. Closest I saw was "for reasons I'll get into later" at the beginning.
Otherwise, fun arc. -
It depends on the character. For some I don't ICly acknowledge it, it's just them getting better at what they do. If/when they get that AoE upgrade, I'll think of some non-incarnate reason for it. I would say most of my characters will end up like this, their new powers having nothing to do with incarnates at all.
But some I could see going with it. Actually getting the power of the Well and using it to their advantage, finding shards, the whole thing. -
I was doing warehouse missions on my level ~10 Warshade, and they were definitely the new layouts and textures.
Some of the new texture schemes have lighting and coloring very similar to the old textures. I wonder if those saying they still get the original warehouse textures are mistaking the new for the old. -
Quote:You don't have to do Black Scorpion's arc to unlock his patron pool. It doesn't mater which patron's arc you do anymore, you get access to all 4 once you're done and respec.IF you're gonna go after Scorpion Shield choose Black Scropion as you're patron its mostly Crey up to the point you unlock the Patron Pool, and get a free respec. You should try to get it done before level 44, Crey that spawn above level 45 can end up spawning nothing Crey wearing power armour that pack a lot more resistance then what the Creys wearing suit and ties have around level 42. There is a kill all in that arc that you should save a mission drop for.
I also had no difficulty doing BS's arc on my DP/NRG blaster, so I think that's a pretty good choice overall. -
It's sort of a necro, sorry, but it was linked from a more recent thread.
I've seen Splashtop and Teamviewer, they're both nice for connecting to your home PC and doing some things, but fail a bit with others, especially when it comes to games.
But there's also everyAir which is apparently made to be used for gaming, with a supposedly good framerate and a gaming-centric control scheme. iPad app is out now, with iPhone app coming in a few weeks. Unfortunately I don't have an iPad so I can't try out their app until they release the iPhone version but the videos look promising. -
Being able to export a build created in this app to Mids somehow would be my ideal. Maybe email yourself a Mids-compatible data chunk or something, I dunno.
Keep in mind while you're doing this though that stats change and powersets get added. If you want to make sure your app stays up to date with current CoH numbers, it might take some extra work.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, though. -
I really like the new warehouse style, and I don't have a problem with bad framerates(though if others are it's certainly something that needs to be fixed).
But I, too, am disappointed that they're a complete replacement for the old style. I thought the whole point of adding in this new style was so it'd be used in addition to the old, for more variety.
Hopefully we'll get the old style back and can have both. -
Quote:This can't be the problem. To become a vigilante in the first place requires you to be able to change your alignment, which requires GR.Per the patch notes, I am under the assumption that the persons stating that problem may not have GR installed and on thier account. It specifically states that unless GR is attached to a persons account they won't be able to access the incarnate abilties or the new TFs that are required to attain them. If I am wrong let me know. I would suggest telling those folks they need GR.
You also don't need to "install" GR since anyone who has an up-to-date COH installation already has all the necessary files. -
Was hoping the Origins pack would be half off, but no such luck. It's the only one I don't yet have.
-
The Destiny itself doesn't make and drop the stargates, the seed ships going ahead of Destiny do that.
But you would still think there'd be something on the ship to replace the shuttles, perhaps even a small, pilotable escape pod or something. But maybe they just haven't explored all of Destiny yet, like how it was with Atlantis.
Good to see they finally got that domed room mostly repaired and usable.
I also liked Greer's conversation with Chloe, and with Scott before that. And it seems Camille and Young are getting friendlier(not in a relationship way, I just mean they're not adversarial anymore.)
No Lucians at all in this episode, I noticed. -
They're not canon to DCAU at all. They just use some of the same voices, sometimes.
The new Superman/Shazam one came out recently, too... shorter, with all the shorts from previous releases. Haven't watched it yet, though. -

So hey. Anyone remember that little tangential discussion in the Hello from Paragon Marketing thread about grabbing CoH character models and using them in 3d editors and 3d prints? (Starts around page 23 and goes for several pages.)
I think that discussion should be revisited.

I thought for sure we'd have a few episodes dedicated to the story as presented last season, including more time with the old guy and I was expecting hints that the girl he thought died wasn't really dead.
But it was still a fine enough episode.
Theme song sucked though, they need to bring back the old one. -
Your best bet really is to do Hero/Villain tips. They're pretty easy and quick, and with one A-Merit you can buy almost anything you'd want. 2 A-Merits and you can buy what's left(unless you want PVPOs or Purples).
You can either do normal content to get tips, or just go to Talos or Sharkhead and beat on guys till you get some. Doesn't matter if you're a 50, you'll get tips from the greys. Or you can join a Hero/Villain tip team.
Do your day's 5 tips. The next day, do 5 more, plus your Morality mission. The first time you do this you'll get 50 merits. This takes 2 days at minimum.
Then you do the whole thing over again. Gather tips, do 5 missions. Next day, gather more tips, do 5 missions plus Morality. This time and every subsequent time you will get an A-Merit.
Using this A-Merit does not cost money. The money is for converting regular Reward Merits into A-Merits. Using an A-Merit you already have costs nothing. Use the A-Merit for something you want, or use it for something you know will sell for a bunch, or use it for 5 random rolls, or save it to use with a second one to get some of the more expensive recipes like an LOTG +Rech or Numina's Rec/Reg. -
Unchecking the newsletter box was one of the first things I did when signing up for the game years ago. However, I've been in several closed betas. So something must be wrong about that information. (And I just checked and yes, the box is still unchecked, just as I had left it. I did check it now just in case, though.)
I should note, though, that I never actually got any emails telling me I'd been accepted to those various betas. If I happen to know a closed beta is going on, I'll usually try to log in every couple of days to see if I've made it in. That, or checking for the closed beta boards, are usually the only ways I know I'm in. I didn't get into the i19 closed beta.
