New Warehouse Skins
I have to second the approval of the new warehouse skins, as they are awesome! It definitely felt like I was transported into a different part of town.
Unless this has been fixed from beta, then the new skins replace all the old skins - so that means the normal warehouses and the dusty old abandoned ones both get the new skin - which is actually reducing the variety of map looks - and it also doesn't tie in with some of the misison settings either.
The new skins are great for used warehouses, but don't resally look right for abandoned ones - like the Clockwork King's lair, or a Freakshow hideout - so I'm hoping this has been changed since beta.

I am, too. I was going to praise the new tilesets as well, because I've been asking for them forever, but every warehouse is the same now. As nice as these are, it's a step backward to have less variety.

Don't worry I'm sure someone will post something she feels isn't worthy of a real response soon enough and people can go back to pretending there isn't a person behind the simley.
Wow, so does this affect maps like the Freakshow, Tattoo Parlour, and clockwork HQ? That sucks.
What about the low level warehouse in Mercy with the Contaminated?

Just wanted to drop in and say grats to whoever did the new warehouse interiors, they're a HUGE improvement over the old mats.
Also, I dunno if this is new for i19 or not, but I did a tip mission yesterday with a 'destroyed portal corp' map that had huge holes blown in the walls and a blasted out elevator that I could jump through the shaft to get to the next floor- that was AWESOME! |
They certainly look nice, but I've already encountered one or two rooms that crashed my framerate. That was pretty disappointing given that I don't have this kind of trouble in Praetoria.

Really like the aesthetics of these new skins. Not yet done any abandoned warehouse missions, but I agree that the old skins would likely be better there. In fact, wouldn't mind seeing the old warehouse skins still show up from time to time. Also have not yet encountered the frame rate killing rooms. Hopefully fixes for both these oversights are in the patch pipeline already.
Hmm, well it's kind of a bummer to hear about them overwriting the abandoned warehouses I'll agree, and any bandwidth killing bugs should definitely be addressed, but I still give an A for effort on the part of the new skins, even if theyve been implemended haphazardly.

The burned tech lab map has been in since i7.
Also, I for one hate how unbelievably laggy that final boss room in that one new skin is (the rest of the map isn't much better either)
Ditto for the Praetorian Tech map (i18)
I really like the new warehouse style, and I don't have a problem with bad framerates(though if others are it's certainly something that needs to be fixed).
But I, too, am disappointed that they're a complete replacement for the old style. I thought the whole point of adding in this new style was so it'd be used in addition to the old, for more variety.
Hopefully we'll get the old style back and can have both.
1) I like the new warehouse skin a lot.
2) I never noticed any problems with lag on indoor maps, new or old.
3) I really dislike that the new warehouse skin also replaces the old abandoned ones.

It does seem very strange that skins replace existing assets within the game - that's odd and seems to go against Paragon Studio's regular culture to add to rather than replace.
I hope we don't lose skins as a result of this addition but I do like them
Thelonious Monk
Just seems like a smarter idea to let the game use both tilesets and either pick one from a mission at random or just code some missions to use the new ones and some the old ones.
I mean, the new ones are good and all, but they're just warehouses of a different colour. Variety didn't increase, only minor novelty did.

I'd almost forgotten about Longbow bases. I used to hate those before I swapped video cards. These seem to have a few rooms with hideously unreasonable framerate drops, mostly the narrow tall room with a double staircase.

And I'd definitely lump the Praetoria tech maps in there as being harder on my video card. I know I don't have one that's all that great (Radeon 3400 or thereabouts), but it runs most other maps/areas fine.
