I believe it works like such:
You use Strangler. You use Thorny Darts. There is a 1s delay before your attack fires where you draw out your thorns. You use Strangler again, thorns are put away. You use Skewer but now have to redraw before the power fires again. Now that your thorns are drawn, however, you may follow up with Thorny Darts seamlessly.
So long as your thorns are drawn, there is no pause/delay between your thorns attacks but should you use a power outside the thorns set, you'll need to go through that draw animation again. For some people it's not noticeable but for others like myself, it gets old when you have for instance Spines/Regen with a click-heavy secondary and need to /RKellyPull_Out_My_Gun every time. -
Icy Assault is not a bad set, Mister Dick. It's pretty standard. Where for other blast Archetypes some use Energy Blast as a gold standard, Dominators may look to Ice. It offers a solid mix of melee, a complete ranged attack chain, AoE options and some special unique outfits. The only agreement I'd have is with the secondary effects being a bit diminished by your control primary.
If you want trash, go play Electric Assault. Ice is fine. -
Now I can be a little Shaymen with Ghost Wolf.

wut is this 2gun you speak of?

DM/Regen was my first character and 50 as well. I deleted it as soon as they released Fire Melee to Scrappers and rerolled it. There wasn't technically anything wrong with it, but as others said, the disparity between other set the higher I leveled made me envious. I never really felt I needed the utility as a Scrapper.

Regen was and I suppose still is one of my favorite defense sets, ever since day one. It's gone through a lot of changes but I always did quite well with it. On standard enhancements, it does just as well as any other set from 1-50, imo, and gets even better with Inventions. The problem, I think is that since it's inception and many changes, peoples expectations and sheer lazyness have gone up. I went on hiatus before GR and come back to new mission sliders, 'harder' trials and soft-capped, passive secondaries that you set and forget with extra goodies to boot. Looks like they've also added it to the Brute arsenal, who seem to be the new Tankers and expecting to tank +4/x8. Doubt that helps it's image.

I've always had the most fun playing from 22-30. SO's and equivalent slots become available, most characters can do thier job respectably yet theres still some risk. After 32, things just become a zerg fest anymore and it only gets worse from 38.

My Fire/Rad is one of my favorite characters.

Just saw. Could care less about pads or phones...but training would never be the same without mah iPod. R.I.P.

Tactics for the +perception, the tohit also helps for punching through pesky defensive shields. The damage bonus from Assault imo, isn't worth the end cost on end hungry characters, small teams or solo and certainly not when you've got a Kin around, which is pretty common. On my MM, however, it adds up but I'd still choose Tactics first.

I agree with Glow. They work well on toggles but I particularly enjoy them on those early attacks that you'd always be throwing out anyway, either as filler or to keep yourself occupied until a better power cools down. I love having 2 damage procs in Ice Bolt.

I'll be moving all my characters I don't play so much anymore but put too much time into to delete(I'm looking at you, Ice/Cold Corruptor) over to Infinity. It's actually my first server but I quickly saw Freedom was the most popular 4 years ago but now it's gotten a bit out of hand. Hope to see some fresh faces.

Quote:/signedFire/Rad is an awesome combo, great solo and teamed. Awesome ST and AoE damage, great buffs and debuffs and just fun as hell.
Fire/Rad was my 2nd Corruptor, namesake, and first to 50. And it was a blast the whole way up the pipe, something I don't get much anymore, certainly not from squishies. It solo's very well is an excellent asset to a team. Being a flexible build, I really don't have to sacrifice any soloing ability while still having room for Leadership and Mutate, which teams do love later on. My only regret is that I've yet to IO it for reasons unknown(It still has SO's) forgoing it for my Ice/Cold, which I've since stripped, shelved and transfered the infamy.
I intend to move my Fire/Rad to Blue once GR hits where I can afford and have a supply to give him all the bells and whistles he deserves -
I'm not a Claws player but unless I'm mistaken or things have changed, Follow-Up is a nice power to have.

Thank you players of the Virtue Server. May your RP continue uninterupted by some sparkles and QoL.

Quote:I'd love to see Energy Melee restored to it's former glory. Unlike others, I don't want EM to have great AoE or control or need a smoother transition in power. What it did well was ST damage and it excelled there. I didn't think it was overpowered because it wasn't something that demolished entired spawns instantly or solo farmed. There are far better sets for just those purposes and EM had it's own niche. It's not so much it's nerfing but the fact things are starting to become all the same in this game apart from the colors of the powers. I'd rather see powersets balanced based on thier specialties.
ENERGY MELEE

Ultimately, you should do with your playtime as you wish. If you beleive a power set to be so broken and that the devs will not fix it proper, don't play it. When the EM changes went live, I deleted those characters and have no regrets to it. My Tankers don't need an inherent to do thier jobs and my Fiery Brute gets by one way or another. YMMV. -
This. I really don't mind playing as a support character, Kin is a set that I like to play because not only do teams love having them but you boost your own effiency as well so it's win-win. Until SB comes along. Kin is a click-heavy set and once slotted up, theres always something to do and be using. Fitting in SB isn't usually high on the list of priorities, with the exception of hard fights and teammates who really rely on it. I toss it out as I can and most teams are fine with that. Theres always the one ****-head, though, that absolutely demands it the second the mission starts and every time it wears off. Then I'll make it a point to keep everyone SBed except said ****-head.

I'd play an SS/ Scrapper but I'm still bitter about EM. Even if it is still the highest burst/sustained/whatever ST damage dealer, the set isn't the fluid fun set it used to be. But why play an SS/ Scrapper when I can play an SS/ Brute and bring him blueside?
-
I enjoy my Storm/Psi. Good ST Damage and added control, though no Aim, if that's important to you.
-
I prefer Ice/Rad. Ice Control is a fun and pretty effective set. The slows are underrated and limit incoming damage when your controls fail. The graphics don't lag you out as bad as earth but you know what is and isn't held on a large team, unlike Fire. Rad Infections -Tohit helps to make up for Ice' lack of hard control so when critters are flailing on that Ice Slick, the random shot they get off here and there probably won't come to much.
If your dead set on soloing, both can do it but Fire is better. -
Should be good for them. A Dominator cannot replace a Controller and vice versa(barring certain Controller combo's) so it's not like they'll be stepping on anyones shoes, not even Blasters. I'm more worried for Stalkers, in being rejected not just redside but blueside as well
And for MM's...the inevitable wave of terrible, buffs-pets-only, non-managing MM's were going to have.
