What secondary for a storm solo-er?

I've wanted to run a serious Stormie for a while now, and I'm determined to finally play something non-melee into the high levels for once. The characters I tend to stay most committed to, though, are ones that solo very well, and the new vigilance mechanic is giving me a little more hope of doing that with a defender.

So, what secondary pairs well with Storm for a primarily solo-ing defender?

Also, aside from the obvious +def/+recharge IO building strategies out there, are there any significant concerns in slotting/IO'ing Storm? Or is it all just 'the usual'?

I don't have a storm defender, but I've been told Ice goes well. I use a sonic and dark and have been getting good results in the low levels. If I had to choose a secondary for solo I'd choose sonic.

I hear Storm/Sonic is beastly.

Okay, ended up deciding to go for /Dark after reading some other threads. Thanks guys!

/sonic /dark and /ice are all good choices. Try all three

Sonic and ice both do decent damage. Dark fits well with storm, but is pretty slow.

Hope you enjoy the toon.

I enjoy my Storm/Psi. Good ST Damage and added control, though no Aim, if that's important to you.

Storm/Ice - General Purpose
Storm/Sonic - Single Target, and Hard Target Killer
Fire/Storm Corruptor - What's better than Chaos ? AoE chaos of course.

My storm defender is paired with /Energy. There's no such thing as too much knockback.

I have a Storm / Energy Defender as well -- even named it "Pinball Wizard" -- but no one ever gets the joke. :-(

Storm/Energy is crazy fun. Truth.

I'm slowly finding myself more and more underwhelmed with my Storm/Psi. She is about 36 now and even with two tornados rocking (Psychic and Normal) I'm not digging the setup though I love the char concept. Does it get better still from there or has it gone up as high as it will in the fun deptartment?

How is your recharge? Are you running hasten? How have you slotted Lightning Storm, Psionic tornado, and Tornado?

Psychic blast has a two advantages on defenders that makes it stand out from the other sets. First is that it has four single target attacks (not counting psionic lance, which is a horrible power) the last two of which are some of the best available to defenders, and the second is that its two area attacks have very powerful debuffs attached to them. I rearranged power picks to capitalize on these advantages and I also moved the endurance reduction from the toggle powers into the click powers, which should give better endurance usage.

My first villain 50

Storm/Dark seems like a great choice. Off the top of my head I can imagine that TT should fit in well with keeping everyone if your debuff range.

Although I have a D4 and a Storm corr, I don't have exp with the combo so I can only imagine...hehe

My 50's:
Fiya Man: Fiya/ Fiya/ Flame Blaster -Protector
Ethros: Dark/Dark/Dark Defender - Protector
Ja-Ja: Fire/Kin/Earth Controller- Protector
Shadow Flux: Fortunata
Daily Forecast: Fire/Storm/Mace Corruptor- Infinity

Storm/Dark could also get some mileage out of Dark Pit when combined with Thunder Clap. If both connect, everything up to bosses will be stunned.

You could also have some fun with Storm/Assault Rifle. Use Hurricane to blow them in a corner, lay down Freezing Rain, Buckshot and Flamethrower to taste.

Good luck!
