  1. Thanks for all of your replies all! I think that based on what Im in the mood for (being a damage soaker with AoE ability) I will go the Tanker Route..

However, Deus_Otiosus brought up a third option..I didnt realize Scrappers can have that combo..*Facepalm*

I think I will still go the Tank route since I just recently made a Kat/Invul Scrapper.

    Thanks again everyone!

I have a level 50 Ice/Axe that is amazing...Granted, I made him a couple years ago before these new power sets.

What are you looking to do with this Tank?
  3. Sounds great! Ill give it a shot, thanks!

Gammos, I recommend the Tank AT. I have a SD/WM tanker. I absolutely love him. At first, I struggled with him because of how slow he was and the amount of endurance he consumed. This was my first SD/WM tanker. A friend helped me out by suggesting adding one or two end enhancements. Every toggle power I have at least two-endurance enhancement types (Set or standard). Now, at 30 lvl, end is no longer an issue, speed of attack no longer bothers me as each strike I hit with is a monstrous strike.
Thats good to know! What do you think makes you say the Tank version is better than the Brute?
  5. Hey all,

Im back for a little while, and I would like to try a new toon.

I've never tried either Shield or War Mace before but i'm very intrigued in it's AoE potential (I love AoE) and KD potential..

The thing is, im not sure if I want to try it as a Tanker or a Brute! Im leaning towards Tank because of the increased HP cap and it seems like the damage won't be too bad...(I have a lvl 50 Ice/Axe Tank that I love).

Is there a HUGE damage difference in the Brute vs Tank versions? Fury is very, very intriguing on a combo like this...

    Thanks in advance!
  6. Well,

I originally couldn't find out how to use short keys for my inspirations because I didnt have f# buttons...but Mac's do have them, you just have to press fn simultaneously.

I had realized it after I posted lol

I still would like to use command as a key instead of control for my 3rd power tray, but it doesnt seem like it allows you.
  7. **Edit**

I answered my own question, and now I feel like a moron..lol.

    Thanks, anyway!

Oh yea...I forgot to mention Weave..

However, you *can* soft-cap without Weave if you're willing to make the investment in set bonuses, and Ice has a couple of other places to put the Steadfast +Def without Tough; both Hoarfrost and Permafrost will take it.
    Good point

Ive come to realize that it's near useless...
  10. I took an Ice/Axe to 50 so I will try to answer as best as I can...

If I were you, I would take the S/L Shield asap and then CE. Constant mitigation is better than a temporary boost in health. At that level your not really dealing with burst damage and so green's will more than suffice.

I don't plan on taking Tough. Without innate resistance to build on, I don't see it providing enough benefit to justify the costs. Again, does this sound reasonable?
No, for a couple reasons. One, -damage is pretty much +resistance which will stack well with Tough. Also, its a great place to put a steadfast unique for +3 defense to all. Finally, The end drain will peanuts when you have a Energy Absorbtion slotted.

Regarding AVs: they shouldn't hit me often, but I worry about being two or three shotted by a lucky streak. I'm hoping Chilling Embrace and the kinetic attacks should stack enough -damage for that to not be a problem. I'm fuzzy on -damage, but I'm pretty sure it cannot be resisted by anything. Am I correct on that? Of course, there's also Hoarfrost.
So soon after GR Launch I really dont know how much KM's -damage benefits players when stacked, however with my Ice/Axe I found that I dont have problems tanking AVs. If there is ever an issue I have Hoarfrost and Hiber for extreme occasions.

    Good luck!

Controllers and Dominators share primaries but controllers have Defender primaries for secondaries.

Meaning, they play COMPLETELY different than Dominators. In general they are safer to play than Doms but do a less damage.

This is based on my experiences at least..
  12. I hadn't realized they changed it. What did they change about it?

I don't think so because there are several search filters that still include more than 50 players. Especially on a more populated server like Freedom.

This is true and I think its a nice addition. However, I think that they should keep the total number of players at the bottom of the screen like previously.

Surely they can both implement the new system while keeping that part unchanged...o.o

I could be wrong on this, I've done no rigorous research.
I think could be it. However, I find it very annoying!

I wish they would revert it back to its previous function.

Or at LEAST allow us to see how many total non-hidden players are on...like before.
  16. How come when we use search with no filters we can only get 50 players on the list?

It used to be that we could get the number of all the total unhidden players.

Is this intentional or a mistake? and if it's intentional, what could be the reason?

    Thanks.

  18. Does it make Flight more tempting as a travel power? Or the boost still not enough to compete with SS or SJ?

    Thanks!
  19. Also,

Remember when Rikti Portals used to give a bunch of xp and people would portal farm?

  21. *Sigh* With the new changes in /Fire I am faced with another decision to make ;_;

Burn should be awesome now so I have to wonder will Hot Feet will be worth the end drain?...

Im definitely gonna be spending the majority of time in melee so my melee and S/L have to be as high as possible...*Sigh* decisions decisions...
  22. Forgot a couple

I remember when enabling Whirlwind allowed you to bypass power animations...

And I also remember when doing the Atta mission meant devoting at least 1 hour to handle it...Oh wait..it still can..>_>
  23. I joined August 15, 2005...

    And Back in my day...

    -There was no Croatoa

-RWZ was the Rikti Crash Site

-Players used to be able to herd Gian Monsters into the middle of the Portal Corp lawn to wreak havoc on the innocent bystanders (Hehehehe) or to get a large group of heroes to band together and send the GM packin'.

-Having more than 2 50s was incredible

-There was no Hospital in the Hollows so if you dies you had to go to Sky or Atlas depending on what gate you used. Also, players such as myself became navigation experts to avoid have to RUN (yea, no temp jet packs back then) back to the Hollows.

-You worked your buns off to get your first million! One time someone I casually teamed with gave me 20million and I blacked out and ended up here!

-The Emailing system was largely useless and ignored. We didnt have the fancy schmancy ability to e-mail inf or other items...

    -CuppaJo was still around...:/

-Energy Melee's pink pom-poms of d00m spelled instant trouble in PvP

-Blasters would drop off the highest building to get enough Defiance to blast everything to oblivion!

    - "The Web of Arachnos" and "Freedom Phalanx" novels were still being discussed with promise of a third book titled "The Rikti Invasion(?)"

-People would to ask permission to grab the glowie in a mission that wasnt your own because they used to give XP.

    - Arranging sidekicks to mentors so that everyone still got XP was an art.

    - People actually READ THE CONTENT!!!

Thats all i can think of for now...
