Quote:True easy-mode soloing of GMs: roll a Bots/Traps mastermind. As you're leveling up to 50, take Provoke and give it a few slots for recharge, accuracy, and taunt duration. Once you reach 50, find the GM of your choice (I recommend Clockwork Paladin, as Kraken's Footstomp can ruin the day of any mastermind). Start using Provoke on the GM to keep his attention off your bots, while placing Acid Mortar and Poison Trap when they recharge. Your biggest challenge will be keeping the GM from running away; if you can manage that, the bots will wear him down in about five minutes.Silverado has solo'd virtually everything using a variety of characters. Including taking down GMs on a blaster before incarnate stuff became available.
At this point, if he posted a video of him soloing a Rikti Dropship on a petless MM I'd probably believe it was legitimate.
also, they're not +5 to your level it's a bit wonky. Here's the link to the specifics:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Giant_Mo...Vs._Your_Level
Also, testing has shown that the level shift from Alpha Slot doesn't apply vs GMs. The bonuses still do, but the formula that calculates "relative level" doesn't give you a +1 if you're alpha slotted for level shift.
the short strategy to easymode killing of a GM:
Stock up on many large purples and a few oranges and greens (blues if you have end trouble)
Craft backup radio, craft envenomed dagger, craft power analyzer Mk III, get shivans, get Vanguard HVAS. Warburg Nukes Optional. Wedding Ring recommended but optional. Any temp power shields (from Siren's Call, temp powers etc) also optional but recommended. Recovery Serum optional but recommended if you can't run your best attack chain for 5 minutes without running out of endurance. Temp power Med Kit optional but recommended to give more slots for purples.
Go to Perez Park and find Kraken (note he's not always up, but quite often). Summon all your pets. take insps and turn on temp powers to get your defenses to 45%. Unload. Use the analyzer and time the envenomed daggers to keep that -regen debuff on him pretty constantly. If you have any -regen powers of your own, use those often. -
I'd eliminate the "average wait time" thing entirely. Even a brief overview of queueing theory would tell you why you'll never get a number that's actually meaningful to the players. In its place, I'd put "number of people in queue".

Quote:That's not much easier.I'd be quite happy to see an existing zone only partially redesigned for another era, say, Victorian Mercy Island or 1920s Kings Row. The devs don't have to start again from scratch necessarily.
A Victorian Mercy Island would be able to re-use the shoreline and maybe some of the street layout, but just about every single building would need to be new, as would contacts, amenities, pathing for wandering civilians, and so on.
A 1920s Kings Row would need to spruce up the King Garment Works factory (essentially, an entirely new set of building models and textures), deal with the lack of War Walls, remove the "new" buildings such as the PPD headquarters and most of the skyscrapers, and so on. Most of the street layout could stay, but they'd need to come up with a new set of cars to drive on it. -
Quote:In order to solo a GM, you need two things:I disbelieve that, sorry. Someone once ran the numbers and showed that there were only a couple specific builds that could solo a GM. All of them use pets, whether inherent or temp. I want to take my Blaster to Monster Island and punch one in the face without dying instantly. No one can do that.
1) A way to overpower the GM's regen.
2) A way to survive the GM's attacks.
The classic build is Illusion (PA gives you survival) paired with Radiation (Lingering Radiation shuts down regen), but I know it's been done with Bots/Traps (bodyguard for survival, Poison Trap for regen), Thugs/Traps (same), various Traps defenders (softcap+distance for survival, Poison Trap for regen), and even a /Mental blaster (softcap+distance for survival, Drain Psyche for regen).
With Incarnate powers, there are some scrappers and even tanks doing this, overpowering the GM's regen through the extra damage from Reactive interface and Lore pets. -
Based on the comments in this thread, where people are reporting power animations causing nausea, migraines, and potentially epileptic seizures, I'd like to see a "minimalist effects" mode, where power effects are drawn in a symbolic rather than realistic form. For example, Static Field (one of the more common offenders) would be a simple blue-white disk on the ground, while the various shield effects would be reduced to simple tinted spheres.

It's quite possible, if the router is corrupting data and CoH isn't properly sanitizing the network input. If the router is recomputing the UDP checksum (which it will do if it's performing NAT), the corrupted data will have a valid checksum, giving no indication that it's corrupted.

Quote:If you don't want Cedega, WINE works just fine. You need to run CoH from the command line as "wine cityofheroes.exe -project coh -renderthread 0" because multithreaded rendering doesn't currently work under Linux.I know most will say cedega, but another monthly charge isn't the fix I had in mind. Is there anyone who can tell me what I need to get wine running the game?
That said, the quality of performance you get depends on your video card. If you've got an ATI card, just about everything will work fine (if a bit slow). If you've got an Nvidia card, you probably won't be able to use Ultra Mode (this may have changed, though, as I haven't tested in a while). If you've got Intel integrated graphics, good luck -- you'll need it. -
You've got your numbers wrong on Confuse: if they beat each other down by 50%, you get 75% credit.

"Most damaging attacks" means "any power that can take Damage enhancements" (official word from a developer). There's a bug in Reactive where it doesn't always work with pets; the patch currently on Test should fix this.

Quote:For salvage and recipes, a LT has three times the chance of a minion, and a boss has three times the chance of a LT. For inf, a boss will drop triple what a LT will, which is triple what a minion will.Does anyone know just how much higher though? Oftentimes you can end up spending as much time finishing a boss as it took to wipe out every single LT and minion. There's a major speed increase when you don't fight bosses, so it'd have to be a pretty major drop rate increase to make them worth it.

You could leech and hope the league gets the goals, or you could help and make it more likely. It's your choice. It's also the league leader's choice to kick you for freeloading.
-
The other problem is that if you leave a spot open, the person you pick up from the queue might be made the league leader.

My participation system, based on the BAF trial as it currently exists. The Lambda trial would need to be tweaked for this to work:
* Entering the zone: 1 point
* Moving at least 100 yards and activating at least 10 powers that affect a target other than yourself: 1 point
* Each optional badge goal completed by the league: 1 point
The rewards table grows based on how many points you have:
1 point - 10 threads
2 points - add Common iSalvage
3 points - add Uncommon iSalvage
4 points - add Rare iSalvage
5 points - add Very Rare iSalvage -

A competent kin won't have any trouble. Put the pets in melee range, debuff the pylon's damage with Siphon Power, and use Transfusion occasionally to heal them.

"Three minutes" is what you get when you average people in pre-formed leagues (23 people * 0 minutes) with soloists (1 person * 72 minutes).

Quote:The Praetorian zone event system is totally broken. I've been trying to figure out how it works on my bots/traps, and nothing I've done (do nothing but command my bots, run it petless, activate "walk" and stroll through the event, etc.) has had any impact on the rewards. This doesn't work for the Preatorian zone events... at least not the last time I tried one. I soloed the event (protestors) by issuing commands to my pets to attack things. I never used my secondary (pets were buffed just before it started), and I only have 1 attack between my primary and secondary (Force Bolt) which I never used. I still did not get the badge on that attempt, and my petition said it was WAI.

Successful TFs at +4 is more a matter of team coordination than slotting. A well-timed Fulcrum Shift, or an Empath who knows who to give Fortitude to, will give you more of a boost than all the Incarnate powers together.

Quote:See this thread. General conclusions:Just curious here, but which attack does the most damage in one hit? Without using inspirations or external buffs. And I mean all at once, I wouldn't include something like Blizzard. Although I would count the 2 parts of damage from Total Focus.
Single most damaging attack in the game: the exploding building in Steel Canyon hitting the Kronos Titan.
Single most damaging player attack: a Corruptor's Blizzard that hits and Scourges on every damage tick.
Single biggest orange number: the "critical strike" portion of a Stalker's Assassin's Strike. -
It's "Virtue United", and it's a general chat channel rather than a dedicated team-forming channel. If you want teams, you're better off with "Virtue LFG Beta" or "Virtue TFs 2010".

Quote:Have you looked at the numbers? The process you're describing requires about two and a half years to fill your T4 incarnate slots.Have you done the WTF this week? You know... the ITF everyone loves.
A notice can be broken down in shards which can give threads.. an ITF gives 10 shards easily.. Once every 20 hours you can convert 10 shards to 10 Threads. The inf you get will pay for conversions. and you can convert the threads to Incarnate XP.
All stuff you do can build up your incarnate. It will be slower sometimes sure... But it will be more fun. -

Quote:Even with a level shift, you're still a level 50 when deciding what you can slot. What Hamios do you have that aren't in Mids?
You can upgrade a 50 to 50++, a 51 to 51++, a 52 to 52+. As Chaos Creator says, just like SOs.
But BOY do you hate that "failed" sound when combining Hamios that cost you hundreds of millions. It stings a little.
Hey, wait... now I'M curious myself. Can I upgrade a 52 to 52++, and also still slot it if I'm 50+1?
