    AR Question...

The patron power pools added some AoE immobilizes. If mass-igniting is what you're looking for, that's an easy way to do it.

    IO Slotting

The recharge bonus in Decimation is very nice, I like it a lot on fire blasters. My fire/fire is very close to perma-hasten, and will definitely get to perma-hasted in issue 19. Spamming fireballs and breath of fire while under constant cover of rain of fire is nice. One thing to keep in mind though is the recharge bonus from Decimation is the same bonus that Positron's Blast gives, which means you can only get the bonus five times total between the two. For example, two sets of Decimations and three sets of Positron's Blast, if you add one more set of either the recharge bonus already has five of the same value and the next one won't count.

The build up proc is decent in a fast spamming power like flares, however it's not as cool as it sounds. The buildup from this proc only lasts 5 seconds or so. Still, you will notice the extra damage when it randomly kicks in. It is unique, so you can only slot it once.

Slotting Devastation for the global damage bonus is also not as cool as it sounds. I took this route on an elec/elec blaster, plus other misc damage buffs, and got the total bonus damage to ~25%. However once I factored in that my attacks were already slotted for +90% damage, the total extra damage is not as extreme. There were only a couple enemy types I was able to drop in one less attack, so the net result was only a moderate improvement.

Now, slotting up a bunch of Devastation procs is humorous. It is not unique. The hold proc uses tesla cage, so you'll definitely see it when it kicks in. Getting mezzed, then randomly mezzing the enemy that mezzed me is sweet revenge, but it doesn't happen all that often. I think this is more interesting when you already have a lot of other holds to mix in (since I did this on an elec/elec, this isn't a problem for me).

For fire/fire, I would definitely go Thunderstrike or Decimation over Devastation, in whatever mix you are comfortable with on defense. If you slot Positron's Blast in Fireball, Breath of Fire, and Rain of Fire, you'll only need two sets of Devastation to cap yourself on 6.25% recharge bonuses. If you want to try out the Devastation proc, you can 5-slot Decimation and put that proc in the 6th slot just to see if you like it.

I only have 15% ranged defense on my fire/fire, and with regular inspiration use that's all I really need. Stuff dies so fast that I can just pop an aid self between each fight to top-off health again. Especially in Cimerora, those guys are a joke if you can keep yourself out of melee (try the wall lined with soldiers, it's fairly easy on a 50 blaster). But if you find that more defense works better for your play style go for it.
  3. No one brought up the Nemesis Mole Machines mission? aka "push attack buttons for an hour straight on inanimate objects."

Of course, I won't blame anyone if they purged it from their mind.
  4. Rage crash is just a cue to run to the next group. Don't worry, they will catch up around the time you can damage them again.
  5. Ok, got a character ready to go. Transfering inf now.

    My global is @jkilowatt

(edit) hmm, I hate working weird hours. I'll try to catch people tomorrow.
  6. Procs only have, what, 20% chance of landing? May as well slot it in everything, as one AoE isn't going to proc on everything.
  7. Was a server agreed on? Still Guardian, or somewhere else?

    Thanks,

    Consume

When I am leveling a character and really need the extra endurance, I slot for accuracy and recharge. On a well IO'd character, I cut back to a single accuracy and use it more for nuke-crash recovery.
  9. Heya Fulmens,

Thanks for taking the time to organize this. I'm still down for 2 billion.

You could totally upsell this as evangelical programming:

"Are you living a life of ebil? Sold your soul for the almighty inf? Worry not, your deeds can still be forgiven! Donate now to the Chapel of Ebil, and salvation will be yours. Act now! Operators are standing by to take your confession."
  10. Every time someone sells an item on the market, a percentage goes to the bit bucket in the sky. The more times an item sells, the more inf disappears.

Therefore, we need more flippers. Thank you flippers for doing your part helping make the economy a happier place!

Nah, Energy Maniuplator proc (chance to disorient) FTW.
  13. The Good:

Fire armor offers resistance and healing. Katana offers defense and knockup. That's a lot of variety to stop incoming damage. Even if an enemy can nullify one type of mitigation (such as tohit buffs to beat your defense, or disruption attacks to nullify resistance), you'll still have others to fall back on.

Endurance shouldn't be much of an issue. Katana isn't especially endurance-heavy, and you'll have Consume to fall back on.

    The Bad:

Healing Flames and Consume cause redraw in Katana. Divine Avalanche can miss, which is a large part of your defense.

    Strategy:

Spam Divine Avalanche to keep your defense high. Use it every time it is recharged. Fire armor can be a bit squishy at times, so the extra defense is really helpful.

Against minions, use Flashing Steel, Lotus Drop, and Blazing Aura to wipe the floor with them. Golden Dragonfly also has a small cone that can absolutely wreck multiple minions at a time, but it takes some practice to use this way.

Against bosses and other tough opponents, use Soaring Dragon and Golden Dragonfly to juggle them. The more time they spend getting up, the less time they have to attack you.

    Brutiest Brute?

When I think brutes I think claws. Ripping things apart with the brutal ferocity of a wild animal, spinning and thrashing about with total disregard of anyone else around you.

The Empowerment Altar can grant a recharge rate boost as well.
I was just thinking about these again after making some Praetorian lowbies. I don't suppose there's a way to create empowerments in Praetoria?

    blaster farmer

If you've already got a Rad/Fire and want to have some fun with it, consider the Soul Mastery patron pool.

Tentacle some dudes, hop in, and stun them with oppressive gloom. You'll need to stack an additional stun on enemies too strong for oppressive gloom alone; coincidentally, Cosmic Burst is the fastest recharging stun available to blasters. And now ... you're standing in the middle of some stunned guys who can't move, with two power sets loaded with point-blank area of effect abilities, what ever shall we do next?

This alone won't be an uber farmer, you'll need something else going on to keep you alive (against a big group, the immobilize cone is too narrow and oppressive gloom's small radius won't hit everything quick enough). It is entertaining enough for general play though.

I like this as well. By the time the Bullet Rain and Empty Clips end animating, enemies have ran up to me, perfect for a fire sword circle finisher. It's just good timing when it works out that way.

Plus there's the whole concept thing. With a fire secondary and swap ammo set to fire, you can say your guns are possessed by demons or something.
  19. Hmm, I think I worded that wrong. I meant to say Jump Kicking while Hovering didn't make sense. I think I've been up too long.
  20. There's a couple other odd examples. You can't summon a Gun Drone while hovering. Or the most obvious example, Jump Kick (those flips would be hilarious while floating around though).
  21. I know I would love to see the words "ASSASSIN'S DONKEY PUNCH!" float across the screen.

    Breathe of Fire

I find Breath of Fire decent for leveling; it's an extra AoE for when the others are recharging. But once I get into the 40s I pick up the less finicky AoEs and don't use breath very often or respec it out.

On the plus side, I tried dropping some range enhancements in it and was very surprised at the difference it makes. Sure I only added an extra 6 feet or so which doesn't sound like much, but really it is a lot when all the enemies are packed into melee range.
  23. I win button: When pressed, a message appears on the screen and says "Congratulations! You win!", and then rolls some game credits.
  24. I brought a brute to 50, fitness free the whole way. Yes, power sink and conserve power (err, energize now) hold me over. They recharge often enough to keep me going.

If you go villain side watch out for Bane Spiders, especially the boss version. They can drop me from full health to dead in just a couple seconds.

    Woot, an electric/devices blaster topic!

Electric blast has been buffed twice now: Once to cut the animation time of the tier 1 and 2 blasts nearly in half, and again to cut the recharge on Voltaic Sentinel. I'm happy with it now, but if others wast to push for more love I won't oppose it.

Devices is another story all together. Sure, I have two devices blasters. They're quirkey and do some interesting things. But honestly I can't take them seriously as blasters I would bring to a task force or raid. Until devices gets a real substitute for build up, it'll just continue to be "that funny little secondary for alts to screw around with".
