Inf Sinks - Ideas?

So this has been kicked around a little bit - and I know some people have some really good ideas about what we could sink inf into in this game.

Below are some ideas for inf sinks - Please add yours to the list!

Note: All items below are meant to be purely cosmetic in one form or another. The prices could vary from 10 million to as high as 2 billion.

Another note: Not all of these are mine. Many of the ideas below have been suggested by other smart people. I'm not smart, so I do not remember who they are. So.. I will give out generic credit to "Others" for many of the ideas below!

  • Vanity "pets" - Pets that cost inf. Sold by a vendor (or vendors) that do nothing but follow you around. Perhaps limit the number of active pets you can have out to 1 or 2 and make them "non-collision" so people can't exploit them. Some ideas include: Small versions of non-humanoid NPCs. Certain NPCs could also be available - Nothing like having your very own Longbow Warden tagging along behind you!
  • Costume pieces - Several of the NPC costume pieces that are not available to us could be made available at the tailor. Call them costume packs or w/e.
  • Badges! Badges you can buy! Have many levels to encourage multiple applications of inf back to the game.
  • Temp powers that alter your appearance: Powers that suppress or end when you enter combat but give you funky appearances. Want to look like a hydra while you list your wares at the market? Buy this 5 use "Look like a Hydra" temp power from the vendor and you too can look like a hydra for a while!
  • AE slots. A big complaint of AE seems to be the space shortage for missions. Allow people who really want to, to purchase additional arc slots for inf.
  • Buying and deleting purples.<--- Chaos Creator
  • Black Hole IOs (a bit confusing at first - makes sense at the end of the first post )
  • Void Sprint's Idea

That's all that I can remember for now! Please add yours to the list!

in general, I think badges, vanity pets and costume bits are great venues for inf sinkage.

You can try to implement any and all sinks you can think of, but the fact remains that you will never deflate a market that has no cap on currency in circulation. Especially since the currency reproduces on the scale of virii and bacterium. Not to mention you have consumers with excess income and no spending discipline for the most part.

In-game economies should at least have some form of economic sense applied to it. I wonder if any of the devs are entrepreneurs or economists?

It's a game and the market is a game. I think I will stay away from treasuries and continue to buy hard assets like alchemical gold and alchemical silver. Giggity.

A whole bunch of 50's.

If you suffer from this terrible illness, I’d be happy to help by sinking some of that influence for you.

Who says I'm trying to deflate the market?

Inf sinks for those who have "too much" inf is just a flavor thing. When you have 40 bil - what do you spend it on? Inf sinks! Needless junk!

Why not have some of that go back into the nether regions from whence it came?

Again, if you want to sink some of that influence to charity, my global is @Marsha Mallow

Send me an in-game email and I’d be more than happy to take some of that off your hands.

Deleting purples for a badge would just lead to an increase in the price of sleep purples.

I think letting people have a vanity npc who says praises would be a great way. Make the person pay per praise or whatever.

200m/slot? no limit? I'll take *counts* 40 of them.

This came from another thread about how to fix AE XP/rewards. One of the suggestions was to have AE missions charge INF on a sliding scale based on the level of the mission. This would collect together and be given to the mission creator. I added that the AE should charge a 50% fee on the collected INF. So part wealth redistribution with a hefty tax as INF sink.

While I personally love the idea, I was originally looking at sinking money into things that don't actually "do" anything. The AE mish slots are borderline on that, but in the end, they don't actually impact the game.

If they ever did this though... *evil laugh*

Anything you could do with 20 market slots you could do with two level 10 characters plus gleemail. It's more CONVENIENT to do it with 20 market slots on your field crafter or whomever.

I'd charge on an increasing scale, probably quadratic. 1 M for your first slot, (1+2)= 3M for your second, 6M for your third, 10M for your fourth... 55M for your tenth.

There was a great idea (not mine) someone had for a way to reset a level of a crafted IO to the level of your choice for a set price. Say, set that level 50 LoTG /Recharge to level 25.

I know I would take advantage of something like that.

Costume slots.

Costume pieces/weapons normally tied to badges (I hate waiting for those ITF pieces).

Power customization/animation options.

"Gold plated diamond encrusted engraved cane" temp power, or "Throw Money" emote.
