Inf Sinks - Ideas?

I'd charge on an increasing scale, probably quadratic. 1 M for your first slot, (1+2)= 3M for your second, 6M for your third, 10M for your fourth... 55M for your tenth.

(Shout out to all my Ars Magica peeps!)
I'd go one further and make them temporary. Like 30 days or so. That way it's an ongoing inf sink instead of a one-time thing. Anything in that slot at the end of the 30 days goes into "storage" mode like happened with the market merge. You don't get your listing fee back.

Temp powers: make more of them and make them easier to get. Allow people to get the Siren's temp powers without going to Siren's (at an inflated cost of course), the empowerment buffs without having an SG base (at an inflated cost). Make the day job powers purchaseable with inf. Add in some new convenience temp powers. Make them fairly cheap, so people will use them a lot, and make them cost nothing but inf and be easy to access, so lazy people will use them too.

Improve the inf>prestige conversion ratio.

Considering my offer was 200m PER slot yeah, its very cheap.

Expensive versions of the new temporary powers like Envenommed Dagger, Kinetic Dampener and both Grenades with longer charges/number of uses.

They're mutually exclusive with the base powers, but let you carry 100 grenades, or a 2 hour Kinetic Dampener, for 20 million per crafting.
They don't allow the rich to do anything they can't already do, but make people pay for convenience.

This has been kicked around for at least a couple of years that I can remember, probably longer. I've seen some truly excellent ideas come up, and none of them have ever been implemented.

Therefore, instead of suggesting a new idea, I'll suggest something which is being put into the game anyway. Make the incarnate system an inf sink. Make the crafting costs for the slots high. It doesn't have to be a recurring cost, and it doesn't have to be punitively high, but at least it would be something to soak up a bit of inf.

I would love to know how much inf. has gone poof with the $20 M A-merit conversion.

My feeling is that it's a number that sounds large in isolation, but is small compared to the amount of inf in the world. I mean, you figure that I've caused to be burnt (checks latest number) over 70 billion inf, mostly in prestige but some in wentfees doing banking and things, and I don't think I've had any actual effect on prices at all.

If you figure 50,000 accounts [more or less] averaging buying one h/v merit each- that seems really low to me, but I don't have a good number- that's 1 trillion inf. Personally I've done tips on at least 4 characters, so even without accounting for a few hundred reward merits from other sources converted, I've done the "first merit" four times.

Nice to see the idea is still remembered and well-received.

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

My idea for an inf sink:

Change the statue of Atlas in Atlas Park for a statue of the Character who has donated the most inf to the City during the previous week. Change each new week. Public billboards where people can see who has donated what/when. Major vanity. :-D

How about an entry fee for a mission in which the mobs have a higher chance to drop purples?

Every time someone sells an item on the market, a percentage goes to the bit bucket in the sky. The more times an item sells, the more inf disappears.

Therefore, we need more flippers. Thank you flippers for doing your part helping make the economy a happier place!

Perhaps I chose a poor title for this thread...

Maybe it should have been named:

"Suggestions for fun, stupid, pointless things you can blow inf on in the game."

*shrug*

How about "charitable causes"? Say that a finite number (e.g. 10) of charitable causes is established, and each month there is a list of the top 10 donors to that cause. What causes would inspire those of you in the wealthy elite caste to be a top 10 contributor to your selected cause? Perhaps there could be a temporary top 10 title to remind others of your generosity and wealth?

As to the badge suggestions, would this upset the serious badgers in the game, that there would be badges that they could not afford?

Could not afford or choose not to afford? I choose to not kill 800 of Mob X. But it doesn't mean I can't do it

@Void Sprint

Added to the list! Thanks! That's a great idea!

It's spun out of Alchemical Lead. That was lead that was changed to gold. And then was changed back!

In real life, there are expensive membership clubs. How about establishing one or more membership clubs with an in-game physical location and expensive regular membership fees? For example, the club could have a location on top of a tall building with a revolving floor with a panoramic view. The club could have one location to which members could bring guests (to show off to your less wealthy friends and SG mates), and another location available only to actual members in which the Ebillionares could hobnob in game. If this location had a trading terminal....

I'd like some seriously purchasable temp powers. I like how all the new temp power recipes are out and about, but I'd like to be able to just BUY them instead of having to hope they drop or use the market. I say make all temp powers, with a few exceptions like TF rewards and Vanguard temps, available as purchasable items. Especially because there's no way to get the Chain Gun back once you've used it all up.

There should be a 1,000,000 inf elite market teleporter- 30 second cooldown. For people who don't want to wait half an hour.

EDIT: and if they made a temp power that worked like the medpack, only with Break Frees? I'd be on that like a cat on an asthmatic. They'd be like 5 million inf at wents and I'd be in there kicking and gouging with everyone else. You could make it not drop in the 40-50 range, for extra rarity!
