Radiation attacks any good?

Heyas. I have a Rad/energy at 17 in Praetoria. Gonna hop redside at 20. Before I fall in love (or hate) with it I was hoping to get some blaster feedback.

The toon is gonna play blapper style, actually trying for Blaster/Stalker style, heh.

I was gonna make a Nrg/Nrg again, because I like the ST damage, and the effects. Then looked at the Rad powerset, very very similar attacks, except with the debuff secondary instead of the KB.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the debuff characteristics of the rad attacks? i think they will at least be helpful with my 2 vet attacks.

Thanks, Blapperator.

You know what, I have to say Radiation blaster is probably the best on Blaster than on Corr/Def.

I have a lvl 42 Radiation/Sonic Corruptor. Radiation has good aoe but the ST attack chain is really awkward. I hate spamming Bolt for little damage and X-ray being a 4s attack has 1.67s casting time (making it one of the worst range attacks). I only use Bolt to debuff the target's defense so my remaining powers hit easier.

And I've heard nothing but complaints about Radiation Blast on Defender like super low damage...blah blah blah. And the -defense debuffs are really overkill on Defender. Do they need to stack that much -def?

The reason I say Radiation Blast looks very good on Blaster is that 1. Bolt recharges at 4s making it a decent attack and X-ray recharges at 8s. 2. Cosmic Blast is a mag 3 100% stun which helps Blaster solos very well.

I have a SG mate that made a Radiation/Energy Blaster. He said he will only play Radiation on blaster and he deleted his /Rad Defender. As far as I can tell, his Rad damage is really high but he does draw a lot of aggro when he goes in for pbaoe.

If your goal is to blapper, you can just focus on using Cosmic and one pbaoe and one target aoe. You can ignore the cone. Start with Cosmic at range and once you are in melee range, use Energy attacks to stack stuns on bosses. Oh and you are right that use rad attacks first and then use your two Vet Reward attacks. The -def helps big time.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I have a Rad/Fire and a Rad/Elec both are St/Pbaoe/Aoe GODS. Nothing can put out as much as a Rad/fire but like Jib said you will generate A LOT OF AGGRO (my Rad/Fire can clear a mob in seconds...like Elec/Shield brute pre-nerf seconds lol). Tanks, Scrappers and fire blasters will look at you with awe as you pull aggro of of them. Make sure you play wisely and have good teammates!

Rad also can take so many delicious procs!

Rad is one of my absolute favorite blaster sets. Good single target, good AoE, great secondary effect. Slot all of your AoE's with an Achilles Heel:Chance for -Resistance, as well as Neutrino Bolt. Bam, -20% resistance to everything.

Ermm, Achilles Heel doesn't stack. I would just put it in one of your fast recharge AOE's like Irradiate.

Procs only have, what, 20% chance of landing? May as well slot it in everything, as one AoE isn't going to proc on everything.

The Bacon Compels You.

Exactly. This is why you toss it in multiple AoE's, so more people get tagged with it.

This is exactly the kind of info I was searching for. THank you.

Currently 20, just rolled into Shark, and loving the idea of a blaster redside.

Unfortunately I have a weekend trip, and will be away from the cities. Brightside, jacuzzi and friends await!
