I've been playing my Elec/Earth Dom and I've been thinking... wouldn't it be great if Electricity Blast actually has this "jump" effect? I mean after all, the theme is perfect. When Electricity Blast set was made, there was no "jump effect".

I think I've seen enough debate about a solid Tier 3 Blast vs. VS. VS is a pet and it doesn't get buffed. On a Blaster, that is a pretty down side. Both Defender/Corr at least have some debuffs to benefit VS.

Wouldn't it be cool if VS's electricity bolt has a chance to "jump" to another target to make VS more appealing? Maybe just 35% to jump to another target and 15% to another.

What do you think?

As for Device secondary, I can see why most Blasters don't take as losing that Build Up really hurts a lot. We've been seeing "mez powers" getting damage buff like Clobber and Cobra Strike. I wonder if Taser is a good one to add some damage to it since it's a melee stun? I mean just a simple 4s-scale damage would be nice.

What do you think?


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

When I think of Electricity/Lightning Blast, I think of the "jump" effect like "chain of lightning" we see in my video games. Too bad the jump effect was introduced after Elec blast was designed. It would have been a great "side effect".


I know it will be too much to add the jump effect in all the elec blasts so I only suggest VS since that's one power that gets most talks. I think it would be neat.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Taser hasn't been a melee attack for a good while now. Out of all the powers in Devices, it's one of the last I would consider changing, honestly.

I do agree with giving Voltaic Sentinel something, though. A chain effect would be dandy.

I just found out Taser has 20ft range. I don't recall seeing Taser in action though. Well, I don't see many /device Blaster to begin with... hehe

I thought it would be nice if Taser does some damage. I still hate Time Bomb...

I had this thought too, giving Voltaic Sentinel's blast the jump effect would definately help with an Elec Blast user (I want to play it, but the numbers.. I'd rather go with Melee or Assault).

As for Taser, it now uses the Technology origin power animation. I know that, for some players, the original animation was preferred (actually taking out a taser and 'stabbing' your target with it, rather than throwing two wires) and maybe if it was returned, the power can be changed to a clone of the Elec Manipulation T9? Melee hold with energy DoT, roughly 190 damage with a level 50 Blaster on SOs.

Devices is another story all together. Sure, I have two devices blasters. They're quirkey and do some interesting things. But honestly I can't take them seriously as blasters I would bring to a task force or raid. Until devices gets a real substitute for build up, it'll just continue to be "that funny little secondary for alts to screw around with".

And to add a chance for +end to the user for the targeted attacks.

Taser is handy to stack with beanbag on bosses.

Well, VS has several "cons".

1. VS' damage can't be buffed, which can be a major flaw if you have a Kin on the team. I do see that Blaster gets 20% damage buff after casting VS. That's decent.

2. You can't really direct which target VS should attack.


I actually like VS on my Elec Dominator because I can do other things while VS does damage. That's the strength of VS.


I just thought electricity blast should have some "jumping effects". The theme fits perfectly but the set was designed before the jump was introduced. That's all.

I vote for jumping effects on VS for sure. Anything to help elec.

Back in the days, there weren't cell phones and calling contacts, when we walked up hill in the snow to school and walked up hill in the snow back home again....we could have more than one VS out at time. Those were the days i tell ya. All these changes over the years....lol


I have like a level 44 emp/elec def that i basically refuse to play, but can't delete because he was my first char that i made it well into the game. I just quit playing him, because he was so crap-tastic after seeing what others sets could do. I will only play him on double xp weekends, so i will finally make it to 50. I need to look at the buffs to the set then.

Its good to know, the elec blast got buffed, a look at its recharge times. I will have to look at that in mids and take my elec def back out. Its a shame the dam buff is only for blasters. The set has turned out to be lackluster on defenders. VS was supposed to make it different and give you that pseudo pet, but after we lost the ability to have two VS's out, then elec really became subpar.

EM is great from what i understand and seen. Electric blast just wasn't. And, since castle is looking at underperforming sets (and alternative animations), lets hope elec is on his list. A little second look, like what he did to burn would be nice.

VS should could use alittle something else. Jumping would help. An Alternative, would be some wide arcing thing around the caster, that would just shoot a blast out, kinda like a pbao and act like the pet. If it's blasts jumped, then it would be way cool (and the visuals with Short circuit/Lightning field/Cond Aura would be just friggin awesome)

I would love to atleast see a jump effect added to VS.

Oh..you could have two VS out before? Interesting. I was thinking why didn't they just allow Elec set to cast more than one if recharge is up. It's not like they last for a long time and it takes like 2s to cast.

Oh well, no duplicated VS is fine but a jumping effect would be nice.

This thread isn't as Elec/Dev blaster as I thought is would be

My favorite Elec/Dev tactic find a nice corner near a mob, plant one trip mine throw down caltrops plant anther mine, step behind the corner and caste VS on the other side of the corner.

Super safe pull.

I have a couple /dev blasters, the buff I wish they would get is a blaster APP with a ranged stun in it. My fire/dev is awesome but that combo has no way to getter enough mez to stun/hold bosses.

I just wish both the pets to each set either had a longer duration (with a longer recharge time to accompany) or were perma.

I think a cool rework of "sparkie" would be to turn it into a floating lightning field.

Defender version does a base 7.28 dps, but spread over however many targets it hits.

Instead let it do 7.28 damage per tick in an AoE. Let it drain endurance with each tick as well.
This would turn him into a third AoE that would seriously help the damage output of electric AND improve its "draining" ability.
It would be nice to have decent draining ability prior to taking Powersink.

Lightning field procs every 2 sec? Does that sound right for Sparky ?

Blaster's version would be about 9.45 damage per tick.

Elec/Elec Blaster would be kinda scarey running this version of sparky and lightning field simultaneously

Buff /Devices to make it better and more team friendly please.

Completely deleting Time Bomb OR making it throwable a short distance OR adding another pet OR some kind of BU (for instance) would be a good start. Stopping all the other web and caltrop temps and ancillaries in the game that compete with /Devices would help too. Auto Turret is weak as well, add a flamethrower to it, or heavy burst. Oh, and Targ Drone should just add + dam to every atatck as well as +to hit.

VS is a little weak, but Electric is strong overall, even despite the almost useless secondary effects.


Masterminds annoy everybody, sooner or later. Heck, Masterminds annoy themselves.

Voltaic Sentinel lacks something maybe that could be it. It could jump.

People could with Devices be offered Hand Grenade or Timebomb. I do like my Timebomb but with even more rechg in my build I might not need it at all.

I was thinking... do you think VS was designed like Diablo2 Lightning Storm skill in Sorc? She would cast LS on her head and the lightning would hit a random target within range.

VS's function seems like that Lightning Storm except it's not a "toggle". Is it possible to turn VS into a toggle but only hits one target? There is really no need to have an "invisible" pet attacking. Maybe the only way to make it like Lightning Storm is to cast an unattackable pet?


I think I might have tried Time Bomb once when I first my ice/trap corr. It was a long time ago. I used it against very low level mobs just to see what it does. I was shocked by the activation. It took like 8s!!! And the description shows that it is interruptable in full 8s? Can you reduce that?
