blaster farmer

I was think would a rad/fire blaster be good at farming?

It'd have a +end power
it'd have a lot of AoEs
It can have a heal (i think havent looked in mids or paragonwiki lately) *note- checked and it can hoarfrost*
It'd have great smashing and lethal def (once IOd out)

So would it a good one?

If you've already got a Rad/Fire and want to have some fun with it, consider the Soul Mastery patron pool.

Tentacle some dudes, hop in, and stun them with oppressive gloom. You'll need to stack an additional stun on enemies too strong for oppressive gloom alone; coincidentally, Cosmic Burst is the fastest recharging stun available to blasters. And now ... you're standing in the middle of some stunned guys who can't move, with two power sets loaded with point-blank area of effect abilities, what ever shall we do next?

This alone won't be an uber farmer, you'll need something else going on to keep you alive (against a big group, the immobilize cone is too narrow and oppressive gloom's small radius won't hit everything quick enough). It is entertaining enough for general play though.

Its more a matter of picking your enemies.

Non Mezing enemies that do a type of damage you either have defense to, or resistance to, are your farms crop.

Blasters can farm. Although imo when it comes to blaster farming you should be thinking more along the lines of who am I farming with. For example a Fire/Kin+Blaster duo would be very effective. A Cold+Blaster would also work very well.

I solo farm +3/x8 farms all the time with my blaster....I don't need a kin or a tank. Some powersets just work better with a partner or group than solo. Blaster's have that little problem when it comes to Stuns, Sleeps, Holds....yes you can still attack with your first 3 powers, but when you are surrounded....those single target attacks aint doing you no good. Its pretty much instant death.

Add in the fact you get really no consistant form of healing, unless u pick up Medicine (which may happen with the new changes in Isssue 19) or If you pick up Cold Mastery and slot up Hoarfrost and get Hibernate for emergencies. Blaster farmin is tough business, but very fun and fast if you are built right. In many aspects, I think Blaster Farming is faster than most other farming builds, but again it depends on the mobs you are attacking.

In case you were wondering....mine is a Fire/MM/Cold

Well I'm not him but I can guess. He's probably running softcapped smashing/lethal defense by using a combination of either frozen armor or scorpion shield as well as weave, combat jumping, steadfast 3% defense IO, and 5 kinetic combat sets. If he's going for a great deal of survivability he's probably also playing a mental manip with drain psyche and definitely using the cold epic for frozen armor and hoarfrost for the emergency heal. Probably archery for his primary set and battle maiden or an all smashing lethal AE arc for his farm.

Just a guess though.
