Elec/Elec any good for brute or scrapper?
Single target is lackluster for electric melee. Electric armor has good resistance, but lacks defense. So if you are going for IOs later in the build, things will work out well for building for defense and recharge. Energize is the new(ish) hotness, so get that thing slotted for a bit of recharge and you will be good to go.
It seems like there is a lot of psi damage being doled out in Praetoria, so be ready for that. I can't recall if electric armor gives psi defense at the moment. (Haven't had my morning caffeine injection), so that might be something to think about.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Electric Armor has good resistance against Psi. It had the best before Willpower was released.

Also to the OP: I have found that in general I like resist sets on brutes over scrappers because of the hit point difference. And look to your patron (soul) or epic pool for some single-target damage to help you out. I am really grateful for the help from gloom on my elec/elec.
Last, really, be prepared to be hella frustrated vs the ppd peacebringers and rikti. They have annoyingly high energy resist. Gah. They generall can't hurt you, but fighting the bosses for each is not all that fun. Minions and lieuts shouldn't be an issue, but the bosses due to the combination of your low st damage and their resist is not good.
Was not as bad as my fire/fire going after my clone when we both had capped fire resists and healing flames on fast recharge (Thank god for temp powers), but it's still not fun. On the other hand, there are lots of places where elect's AoE shines.
The other weakness is that until you get some set bonuses or take tough you might feel weak against s/l damage spikes. I found freak tanks and a few other really hard-hitting smashing/lethal bosses were able to 2-shot me reliably until I got just a little bit extra layered on (toughness/weave and/or about 15% s/l def should do for you). That was enough to tip it so that energize was up, or I could knock them down, or pop an orange or something. Kind of funny how such a small change made such a big difference, but it really did. Against gunners etc I had no trouble it was just the spike damage.
And there are some little perks. Like you don't need sprint you get a faster run built in so you feel fast all the time. Overall, I like /elec. I think that fire is better right now, but I like /elec. being able to resist sappers and mu is very nice.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
I brought a brute to 50, fitness free the whole way. Yes, power sink and conserve power (err, energize now) hold me over. They recharge often enough to keep me going.
If you go villain side watch out for Bane Spiders, especially the boss version. They can drop me from full health to dead in just a couple seconds.
The Bacon Compels You.
I rebuilt my elec/elec to 30ish% melee def the same time Energize came out. Survivability went up dramatically after that respec. Unfortunately I can't make an assessment of which of those 2 had the great effect.
I do disagree that Rikti resistances are "hella frustrating". I think the number is 20%ish. I can't access those Culex spreadsheets right now, so I'm going from memory (which is subject to failure, cascading failure at times). Yes, they take longer. I did choose Gloom to help with that scenario as well. If another spawn is close enough, I'll just drag them over so I can begin the AOE chain all over again that will kill the old bosses without me having to spend too much time with the weak(er) ST attacks.

I've never found the single target damage output in Elec/ bad... oh, wait. Unless you are actually only using the single target attacks in your attack chain?
Electrical Melee has a fine single target attack chain... that happens to do some AoE damage. Do not hesitate to use Jacobs Ladder or Thunder Strike against a single opponent. You should find that sufficient for your needs. Of course, if there ARE other targets around, shifting position a bit to include them would be wise...
This combination is all about Endurance Sapping. Enemies with no endurance have a very hard time hurting you - or anyone else. Yes, fighting enemies with Energy Resistance can be frustrating... but its nothing you can't handle.
In the later parts of the game, try to work some defense into your build - 20% or so to all positions does wonders for your survival. Tough will also be a major help.

I quite enjoy my Elec/Elec. It has it's pros and cons.
Limitless Endurance, ignores sappers, Saps foes like crazy.
Has a +Run/+Rech built in.
Very weak against Toxic, outside of it's godmode. (But outside of Arachnoids, not a problem.)
I got the feeling that while Elec Melee needed Elec Armor, Elec Armor didn't need Elec Melee much.

I was thinking of making an electric/electric brute or scrapper for soloing and some teaming. I want to do Praetoria and then go villains. Are there major problems with these powersets that I should watch out for?
Thanks for any help!
