Synapse's TF needs a do-over just because Yin and the Clockwork King have changed. Yanking out the redundant do this mission in triplicate would be a wonderful side-change.
I think Citadel's TF would be a good place to introduce the Columnists and Council fighting each other instead of just an endless string of council missions. They could tie it into how maybe Primal Earth has had design docs pertaining to the Imperial War Walkers leaked to them at the cost of a dozen praetorian rebels' lives and Citadel is analyzing them for structural weaknesses. Naturally the Council and Column are both intensely interested in those documents seeing as how they also have a penchant for building giant robots. -
I wouldn't be surprised if up-and-coming Incarnate enemies and the rare new enemy here and there start to pack such a high mag KB you want to draw circles of protection just to keep the melees not flying out of range. Smacking the melee DPS and tanks around is a pretty basic raid boss power in every other mmo..

Quote:I think PvP got it nerfed to complete worthlessness. It used to be good for ghosting through doors, but the Intangibility got whacked down to a short duration timer instead of being until you de-toggled it.
Heck, if they relaxed the restrictions like that, I might even take Phase Shift on a toon for the first time, and try to see if it has any usefulness at all.
It'd be nice if it got a situational use where you could target an enemy NPC with Phase Shift and prevent THEM from using THEIR Phase Shift. Being able to lock down a Carnie mistress or Diabolique so they can't KEEP ON FLIPPING IN AND OUT OF PHASE ARGGHGHH would be at least useful, although still situational (how often do you fight Carnies or Diabolique? If you like fighting Carnies for the extra challenge it would be worth taking!) -
I don't really have a problem with the whole Punch/Kick thing since Tough and Weave are pretty much worth having to 'waste' a pick, but I think a big problem with Fighting is how Weapons users are really, really wasting the pick. Brawl was eventually made to work with your Weapon out so you wouldn't have to redraw it. Those powers need to have that same functionality added, dangit. Adding a tertiary attack that'll sheathe your weapon and force redraw is just another kick in the shins for any melee fighter that use a big honkin' sword or mace or axe or claws or what have you.
Maybe they could merge Kick/Punch into one thing and just give Fighting a passive like the VEATs get. Training: Accuracy or whatever? Blasters/Doms/Corrs would probably absolutely adore any extra +ToHit they could scrounge up with the instasnipe changes coming. And if throwing a punch is a waste, then you could just make yourself slightly more accurate when you're throwing the attacks you do use. And it's hardly overpowering considering how obscenely ridiculous your accuracy gets up to when you start to factor in how many IO set bonuses have that bonus because they didn't know what else to plug in. Everybody is probably at some soft cap already, lol, but it would have an impact on the low/middle game before players are IO'd and Incarnated into godhood. -
Quote:Rise of the Phoenix is a fun corpse nova power. It's easily my favorite out of the self-rezzes since it's immensely awesome--damage and big old stun wave? Compared to "slightly buffed but having to turn back on all my toggles and then enjoy the debuff that'll hit me soon" that WP's revive is and "I bought this power just to save myself having to carry around an Awaken" that Regen's revive is. Of course if they put in some mechanic where you could use Rise while alive but as a weakened PBAoE that gained damage depending on how damaged you are when you click it...
such that they gain some form of utility outside of having someone die,
WP using Resurgence while alive could be like using a green+blue? inspiration when alive. A WP being able to pop a reconstruct-like power could come in handy. You reach in and pull out more fight. Or there's that Paragon Reward power that randomly generates Inspirations--it could do that!
Regen's Revive has always sucked. A power that's no different from using an Awaken inspiration? Why not just carry an Awaken and not waste a power pick. I'd suggest making it instantly recharge Instant Healing if used while alive, but the devs might consider that to be too OP and do something horrific like nerf IH again and saddle it with a 30 minute cooldown timer or something. I guess they could tag it with +Healing so any heals a Regen has hit them heal them better? I dunno. They could make it create an Absorb bubble that can soak up some damage for you maybe. I haven't looked at how that new game mechanic is supposed to work. -
What with Incarnate powers requiring you to keep paying a monthly sub fee to keep access to them (unlike IOs, which are either completely free or only $2.50/month) it's not surprising they're OP and homogenizing all the ATs into similar powerhouse tankmage gods that eat +4x8 and poop nova-tier nukes every minute and a half. I think that was sort of the point of the Incarnate System--a return to feeling as super as superman that the year-1 pre-ED game used to have.
It would be funny if Tankers got their damage resist pushed back up to a possible 95% or something with IO sets now actually providing +RES instead of only +DEF, to open the possibility of them getting just a bit more sturdy than Brutes. I remember when they could reach 99% resists or something and they didn't see any red numbers higher than -1 over their heads, lol.
Although, if the Battalion are an interdimensional Death Force of the strongest beings in the multiverse who eat the living Wells of planets for breakfast, Galactus style, and shove Nictus cysts into their space ships like so many lumps of coal I wouldn't be surprised if they have a nasty, NASTY surprise...like wielding an untyped damage type that slices through everyone equally. -
Prisoners were all idgits for not having the common sense to either force their way through the Hazard Gate into Crey's Folly, or just casually stroll down the street into Southern IP where nobody goes. Ever.
But then again Manticore stands guard at that road, and he could spam Rain of Arrows on them or something. -
Stalkers are 1000% more fun to play with the new, this time actually improved, Assassin's Strike.
But, just not for farming with such minimal AoE that's a noway nohow. And with that one good awesome 100% crit from hide AoE they get being slated to be nerfed eventually, too--my KM stalker would probably drop Burst as well once it loses that perk. Can always flip out and double that build-up with Conc Strike leading into a insta-AS while the rest of the team splash damages everything else to the ground. -
I would thoroughly enjoy being able to unlock Invention System through paying Influence/Reward Merits.
The people sitting on trillion influence stockpiles probably aren't the type to piddle it away on boosts, unless the boosts end up letting them grind so hard that they actually make more Inf with the Amplifier on than it cost to buy the temporary boost. -
The Ki Push was pretty funny, but the mobs in the video were completely passive. They might be able to shoot at your face while they hang floating in the air if they're actually in combat and the mitigation is only when they finish falling on their butts and gotta get up. If they're not able to respond during that whole slow-mo repel that'd be pretty awesome mitigation, though, so much better than junk like the negligible -recharge sticky grenade/entanglement arrow or the rings of immobilization.

Ooh, that new take on Build Up sounds like it's going to be completely gimp for earning that new shiny insta-snipe/BU and drop your big nuke for maximum affect gameplay. Devices is reviled for swapping BU with an inferior (but always on) Targeting Drone (which is getting an upgrade by being the easiest to perma the instasnipe) but a build up that is just randomly procced off of attacks is worse than Targeting Drone...
It sounds like it would a fun fit on a scrapping melee AT, though. Could ALL Scraps/Stalks get a VEAT Night Widow type option where they could choose EITHER Build Up or Reach for the Limit? Maybe tag it onto Tanker's punchvoke Gauntlet as a gimmie to the poor old facetank meatshield AT that's so eclipsed by the equal tanking yet much higher damage output of enraged Brutes.
Blaster secondaries are all filled with melee blapper moves, except Devices. Not surprised at all it's filled with melee moves. -
I always thought the Crey Pistols could be a nice little unlock for DP if they bothered to earn that surpassingly worthless crey pistol accolade. Also I wondered why they didn't have the Resistance's pistols with the cool LED lights on the sides...considering DP came out with GR!
Sadly enough in the age of Freedom I doubt we'd see them doled out for free anymore. -
I think it'd be neat if they made a Freedom Force type single player game set to the CoX universe.
I don't think FF even works on Win7 -
It'd be neat if they made a switch so Exemplar'd 50s can earn incarnate XP, somehow. Instead of earning Inf maybe it could split XP between unfilled incarnate slots, but make the formula weird so it's not all that efficient (but at least you'd be earning something!)
Earning those shards doesn't mean too terrible much when the only thing shards are good for is the alpha slot. And even then, using those incarnate trial drops could get you crafting those alpha abilities up faster. -
I think the main problem with Praetoria was it was designed for higher levels, but Positron's bosses at NCSoft probably told him to make it level 1-20 instead.
Whoever thought the solo player Morality missions was a good idea had a screw loose. Enemy factions that are nastily difficult when you start spawning them in larger group sizes combined with a new game mechanic that FORCES groups to split up in order to complete Solo-only missions. It made Praetoria ridiculously penalizing and unfriendly to grouping...in an MMORPG...Praetoria would've been fine as a single-player game.
Hey, Posi, get Paragon Studios to make a Freedom Force knockoff set in the CoX universe! -
Yeah, but it was always just kinda sorta redundant. Stealth made you harder to see...but Invis made you actually invisible. Taking Stealth seemed kind of a silly move to me since the only +Stealth that Stealth does stack with is the Stalker's Hide, I think (and that was exclusively for PvP reasons)...and the stealth IOs, I guess.
-
There's a Crusader arc where you meet a battle-hardened crazy old man who I believe is the Praetorian dimension's Requiem. He believe he talked about how he hated Marcus Cole ever since he just hung hovering over Rome and watched it burn (or get enveloped by goo, whatever)

I assume they're going to add the proc into super packs after the event is over?
KB to KD is an extremely valuable toy to restrict to one event that happened for a brief period over the year. Golly, if I still played my claws scrapper I would be giddy with glee at Shockwave finally turning from a ghetto power into a good one by a simple flick of the over-magnituded KB switch into a nice wide KD power. That's some nice mitigation...and no complaints about scattering stuff (hey, there's not always a flat wall to KB everything into!) -
Quote:Jack had a chance to have Geko nerf Hasten back in year 1 (heck, I think some people were saying they NEEDED to) when a lot of unpopular decisions were made (like nerfing /Regen every issue) but he didn't. Nerfing Hasten now would probably just result in a lot of people uninstalling CoX: Freedom because permahasten is built into so many builds. But it is a really stupidly powerful ability.
Cottage rule is going to water down any changes. Some really need an overhaul:
Stealth
Presence
I'd go so far as to say some powers need a nerf to hell and back:
Hasten
Weave
Stealth's Invisibility would become immensely nice if it had a Quality of Life upgrade to make it an AoE. Stealth the power sure could ditch that old -runspeed component, and please equalize the power upkeep cost to Combat Jumping's level to make it a low-impact bit of bonus +DEF--emphasis on little, since I think half of the value Suppresses in combat. Phase Shift...errrrrr, heh, nerfed to uselessness due to exploitation in lolpvp. I could see Stealth getting a /Nin Smoke Flash type power to ditch enemy aggro.
But, yeah, Presence bites for anybody besides a Tankermind only taking it for some ghetto taunt. The two Fear powers are just super useless. Buff the Fear powers with some additional debuffs, at least. Maybe top it off with a 5th High Pain Tolerance type passive or something--you turned your overwhelming presence inward and actually tricked yourself into feeling less pain! (Fear is the mind-killer?)
I wonder if this new Sorcery power pool will be a free to all, or a purchased. It's the first new Power Pool in...like...ever. -
Judging from the kind of weak teams the LFG tool tends to assemble when left to its own devices, it's no surprise trying to rely on it exclusively instead of entering a queue with pre-formed leagues resulted in lots of failure.
-
I'd say use one of the melee ATs. Scrapper or Brute would probably be fine and dandy to quickly plow through those story arcs. Stalkers...well, I think a lot of ambushed are seeking ambushes, but being caught with your Hide down isn't as much of an issue anymore.
I keep thinking I'd try to follow that all story lines guide, but it just looks so convoluted. -
Quote:I would think actually finding all those Mayhem missions so you can collect the explore badges would be a lot more of a pain. Mayhem/Safeguards are one thing I wish Ouroborous would get put in since Ouro got put in...
You can also get them by collecting Invader and switching sides. That's a heck of a lot better than six Task Forces.
Then again, with Freedom, I suppose you always could register a second account and just PL yourself to grab them. lol.
I hope Synapse's TF is the next up for a revamp. That one is painfully full of copypasted missions done in triplicate--and having to make sure you don't miss the tiniest gear or you'll have to run around to scour the map again to catch the one you missed. Psyche's TF was less arduous, but with Psyche gone I guess they had to prioritize. -
I think the devs had been considering letting players unlock the Invention System in-game through Reward Merits, but decided against it (a few months back they accidentally let it slip off the training room server and it was live for about a month before being bug quashed)

Warshades are cool.
Too many buttons and binds to push to play at optimal efficiency, though. Keeping those fluffies out and eclipse running and sucking the bodies of energy after tearing them all apart...woof. It has to be the busiest archetype in CoX. -
I wish there was a mechanism for moving your account slots around. I wouldn't mind retiring several of the unlocked character slots I have on Freedom and moving them to Virtue.
Freedom used to be a lot more alive. It had more Incarnate Trials formed than Virtue did. Heck, I remember back when arena chat was a good place to pick up task force commander TFs, better than the global TF channels, heh.
