I24 Overview is up!

AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER.

Seriously. I just about cheered at work.

I'm most excited for the new T9 VIP sets and the new Invention sets. Those respective categories have needed some love. I'm also RIDICULOUSLY happy to see XP Debt protection and Mez Resist in IO bonuses go away. Those bonuses were largely useless, especially at later levels.

Now if only I could convince the Invention guys to make sets for melee powers that grant defense and melee/ranged powers that heal...

Well I didn't CHEER, but I did read off the list to the wife.

Thank you in advance, Devs! This seems to have "a little something for everybody", which appears to be what most of us have been wanting for a while. Not an easy juggling act to pull off.

I'll have to see Tech Knight before making a judgement call, but I'm not enthusiastic for more Tech pieces. We have far too many as is :\

That said, I'm liking everything else about I24 so much. Especially the zone events. Paladin reworked, a Family raid in St. Martial, and an actual prison break? Sold.

Even better is seeing Legacy enemy groups get their collective spines straight and rise again. It'll be awesome to watch the old groups come into the spotlight like they did so long ago.

Edited to Add: Here's hoping those new villain schemes are fun; nice to see redside getting some content love! Maybe now I can finally stop saying 'for the greater good!'

... dammit. *drinks*

The most fun will be had seeing how they handle the transition to post-war content ar level 30 when the war doesn't start until 50

Pretty much pokes a giant hole in the "time progression by player level" thing we've all thought was going on, which makes First Ward's timeline that much more ambiguous.

On the plus side we'll be able to start busting out the "wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey ball" image macros.

This all sounds really interesting. Us taking it to the Praetorian Hamidon, new 7-20 and 30-50 content, fun stuff. And, y'know, power customization.

Eh, it is what it is. There's no real easy way to handle changes to the game world or progressing storyline without this kind of stuff. Not unless you lock all storyline stuff behind Incarnate stuff, and then it's "the story begins at 50!" Which is bad. So I can work with this. It really helps not to think overly much about it and just roll with it.

When will then be now?
Colonel Zwillinger: Soon(tm).

I'm wondering if it's part of a larger plan to make the Praetorian Incarnate content "historical", and have it replaced in the timeline by the Battalion Incarnate content.
Something similar seems to be happening with the RWZ - the new Brickstown and St. Martial content covers the level range of the RWZ, which makes it less of a "required" leveling zone, which could help to set it aside as a "historical" zone covering the events of the 2nd Rikti invasion, but not as an actual current storyline zone anymore.

...so there was nothing in the Capone's vault but some empty gin bottles.

Seriously, most of the surprise was spoiled by the devs in the weekly Coffee Talks so this feels entirely anticlimactic. I hope the beta starts today or tomorrow, because this is beginning to drag. We all know i25 is the 'big one', anyways.

Aren't you just a fountain of positivity?

Things we hadn't heard about yet:

-New IO's
-New T9 VIP Costumes
-New Lore Abilities
-New Incarnate Story
-New Zone Events
-New Arc for KR, St. Martial and Brickstown
-Set Bonus Improvements

Boy, that sure doesn't seem like everything was spoiled for us now does it?

Come on, Butane. Lighten up for once and be happy we're getting new stuff.

Knowing what's coming in an Issue is not the same as playing through it

I agree with this. I had hoped we would see the Pendragon/Black Knight armor before long, things are looking grim on that front though.

The rest looks amazing, and I am actually excited about it.

I didn't know that. Were there any hints to what is coming in i25? Or is it just because it's the number 25 that you assume it is the 'big one'? Are they saving Bio and Radiation armor for that release?

Or maybe we get some new power pools. Hoping Sorcery is not it and they can fill some other gaps like gadgetry, experimental science or utility belt(give me bolas please) type set.

Issue 25 is when we get to meet Battalion

The rumor is that I25 is when Battalion will attack. Since that is the big thing that been hinted about since beofre Issue 9 if it's true then I25 will be pretty big.

And with the current pacing of the Issues, it looks like it's timed to have an overview up around the time of the end of the world

Matching the text to the pictures, it looks like the villains get to punch Penny Yin inside her Praetorian counterpart's mind. How's that 'for the greater good', eh?

... damn. *driinks*

I blew through i23's content in two evenings, literally while I was eating dinner with one hand on the second night.

Nice to see new content added to KR, Bricks, and St. Martial.

As you're a Tank, I assume you had it set to -1?

In the banner image, is that Back Alley Brawler wearing Marauder's wrist cannon, or has Marauder defected to the good guys? Or did the artist make a mistake?

"The majority of Praetoria except for one last bit of civilization outside of the city has been destroyed." I sincerely hope that this means just Praetorian City, not Praetorian Earth. Please tell me that all of the other cities that were rebuilding didn't fall to the Hamidon during issue 24. I feel bad enough about what we did to the city; if we helped kill off almost the entire remaining human race in that timeline by depriving them of their last protectors, if the IDF we fought in the Magisterium trial weren't just the last troops Tyrant had handy but were the last actual uninfected human soldiers on the planet, I don't think I can stand knowing that.

St. Martial's Secrets ... oh, yay. Why can't Longbow attack some place that actually needs conquering, like Port Oakes or Sharkhead or Warburg? Why are they utterly determined to bring the war to the only even minimally functioning parts of the Rogue Isles economy, Cap au Diable (previous issue) and St. Martial (next issue)? Does it really offend them so much that Governor Aeon and Governor Sonata are doing a better job of governing their territories under Arachnos than, say, the US and local governments are doing in governing comparable neighborhoods like Steel Canyon and Founder's Falls? Go invade your own selves, clean up your own messes before knocking down something that's actually working, you filthy mercenaries. I'm entirely serious here. First Praetorian City, now the only actual nice zones in the Isles -- are you guys determined to turn this game from a superhero game to a post-apocalyptic wasteland game? Is that why you nominated Post Apocalpse as a costume set at the Pummit? Are we really not going to escape the Agony Hall future?

Do the new Kings Row and Brickstown story arcs replace the old issue 0 content? Do they include any art revamps to the zones? Are there really going to be 13 whole levels' worth of new content in King's Row, or is that just the minimum and maximum level range for the content?

What even is a Zone Event, in this context? Something multi-phased like the Troll Rave event in Skyway City that everybody ignores?

Is the Coming Storm postponed to issue 25? And how many issues will it run? Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm on record as saying that I'm bored to death with interdimensional and interplanetary invasion forces, and would love to know when is the earliest the story will do anything I find even minimally interesting. Knowing that it isn't even starting this year does would not encourage me.
