Bug it. I've definitely purchased more than one G'rai Matter on the same toon, so it should work.
Oh, did you try zoning? Sometimes that sorts things out when the game seems to be confused about elapsed time. -
Super! More time to replenish the Slow Resist IO stock for the year :-)
BTW, if the events going to run for a while longer, would it be possible for someone to look into the spawn points for Winter Lords in Praetoria? Some of them are very inconveniently placed indeed (e.g. next to Warrant, or at the Imperial City train station). The pesky WLs hang around for such a long time once spawned, too. -
I think they're cute, and I like how they grow in power through the story lines. I'll always go out of my way to do their acrs. I especially love the mission where they're sending one another tells.

Quote:Personally, I don't tend to spend a lot of time worrying about situations which will only come about when a very large group of people acts in a perfectly rational way :-)If everyone used the market in a perfectly logical manner then price variations would (theoretically) vanish and the markup for crafted IOs would be equal to the crafting costs + salvage costs + WW fee in which case no one would be able to make any money from the market.

Answer: Massively cut the amount of inf generated by playing.

Find a new favourite AT/powerset combination to level up to 50. I have a fire/ice blaster and claws/EA scrapper I love, and then a bunch of other characters who don't quite have that special something they both possess.
-
I usually give myself at least a couple of weeks to lowball mid-level recipe sets. For higher demand stuff, especially if it caps at <50 like Kinetic Combat, I'll wait 4-6 weeks, no worries. I put in the bids on a character I'm not playing much, and go back to check once or twice a week.
One thing I always do is make sure I'm covering as many recipes I need at each level I'm bidding on. So, if I was bidding for Kinetic Combat triples across levels 28-34, and I wanted three sets total, then I'd bid for three recipes at each level. Any excess I get will turn a profit selling the crafted IOs, anyway. -
The timestamps were removed in the UI update.

Quote:How much of a reaction can you expect to 'I could TOTALLY burn more inf than you guys if I wanted!'?In the end this challenge doesnt mean that much to me. But it seemed like a fun idea to simply get a reaction based on how much you all pat yourselves on the back regarding your efforts.
Really, it's like when a little kid wraps their favourite toys up in a spotted handkerchief, ties it to a garden cane, and announces that they're running away. Do you call the police and alert the media? No, because you know that it isn't going to happen, and they aren't going any further than their best friend's house three doors away. So you just tell them to have fun, and maybe make them some sandwiches to take with them.
ETA: Ha! I see seebs and Fulmens already offered the sandwiches. -
Quote:I just don't see that it is a problem that team-oriented ATs should have soloing weaknesses to balance out the huge benefits they bring to teams. Surely that's the very essence of team-v-solo balance?I understand that good play and practices can let players "work around" the problem; but because you can work around it, it does not mean it does not exist. You can have a good sized pot-hole in your street, since you can drive around it, does it cease to be a problem?

Quote:Out of curiosity, what percentage of minions in the game have mezzing abilities? In my opinion, it is less than heroic for a support character continuously rendered helpless by any mere minions; that just seems so wrong.
I can't say that I have all that much problem getting mezzed on my rad/rad Defender, and I play her solo a lot to get Hero merits. Now, I solo her on +0x1, because I'm trying to get through the missions quickly, but I don't think that's unreasonable for a Defender. She's a support AT, and she's an extremely valuable asset on teams, so it would be very unfair to expect her to solo like a scrapper, or even a blaster. However, between her primary, secondary and APP, she has plenty enough mitigation to get done what she needs to do solo.
In teams, the mez mitigation comes from the other team members, so I have even fewer problems there. -
I'm having no problems at all with slow loading. I do get logged out at least once and often more times per day, though, and have for a while.

The community here is excellent, and it's the main reason I joined the game and then stuck around. A good piece of advice is that, once you've chosen a server to try, check out their server section here on the forum and find out the names of the global chat channels on that server, then join them in game. Those are the best places to look for teams and generally meet people.
Also, if you've been playing WoW, one important difference here is that the game focuses on the whole run from level one to level 50 -- there's no need to push up to the level cap as fast as possible. Enjoy the ride, and try out different characters if you feel like it.
Character creation -- I think an actual skeleton might be tricky. The male bodies are quite buff. There are some zombie costume pieces with bones showing through the skin, though. If you want an emaciated look, then try using a female body as the basis, because they can be made a lot skinnier then the males.
Finally, welcome to the game! -
Wow! Congratulations to everyone. That's one impressive solstice bonfire :-)

Oops! I'm sorry I missed this before.
My current setting is:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe" -port 13094
That gives me decent dl speed, although I couldn't tell you what off hand. Enough that I don't worry about it any more :-) However, as I understand it, the port issue is related to your ISP, and so what works for one person might not work for another. The best thing is to cycle though the options and see if any of them give you a better result. -
I think you'd need to include bids on other items, like low-level PVP procs -- real items which are ludicrously unlikely to ever fill, to the point where they might as well be in a non-existent IOs. I store my spare inf in 200 million inf bids on the lowest level (10?) of the +3% def IO, and I'm far from the only person with bids in there.

That seems like an utterly ridiculous worry. There's a game site out there specifically aimed at kids where the officially policy states it's absolutely fine to cross-dress characters. Why would the CoX GMs needs to concern themselves with it?
-
Quote:In fact, one way to get people in the game to assume that you're an IRL guy is to have an outrageously endowed character in a skimpy outfit, because everyone knows that IRL women wouldn't make their characters look like that. Reverse psychology is fun!Heh. Don't assume that. If I'm playing a female character and with some of my female friends, I'm often one of the more conservatively dressed!
I join the OP in wishing that it were possible to make more muscular female characters, and I'd also like to be able to make more slender male characters.
However, I suspect at the end of the day it comes down to the practical limits of ensuring costume pieces fit adequately. With the female model it's already easy to get belts to clip by setting the waist slider too far to the right. Truly muscular female characters would presumably require a whole new body shape. And the effort required to port a significant proportion of costume pieces over to a new body type would simply be prohibitive. -
Just note for future needs, there's a fairly recently released helper tool from Titan Network called Titan Sentinel, which will allow you to export a build direct from the game in the right format for Mids build planner:

Saves some time on old characters :-) -
Quote:Skipping it seems a little silly, though. I decided I might as well unlock the slot on the 50s, and then whenever I played them against 50+ content they'd have a chance to get shards and components. It might take a while for some of them, but eventually it'll happen.skip incatnate no point in trying right now its not a fun system becuase you have to gind in a specific way to get the salavage they have to give a batter way of doing this
Just saying 'I won't bother with the whole system because getting the salvage quickly requires grinding' seems a little like never emptying a character's recipe storage because purples are so rare unless you farm that there's no point in having space for them to drop. -
Thing is, if the Pinto was being driven by a moderately competent human, and the Ferrari by a self-guiding AI, I'd bet on the human every time. This is why the game has to 'cheat'. If the CoX devs were capable of writing AIs that were as flexible and adaptive and able to react to situations as people...well, they probably wouldn't be wasting their time with CoX in the first place.

Have you tried setting different ports? That can make a big difference to the dl speed.

You'll probably get more help if you post this kind of question in the technical issues and bugs section, which is where the tech-savvy people hang out:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=578
It's helpful for them if you post your computer specs along with your question, to give people an idea of which performance issues might be caused by hardware, drivers etc. There's a stickied guide in that section for what info is useful to include:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=231628
You might want to have a look at some of the other stickied posts there, too, to see if any of them address your problem.
Good luck with getting it fixed, and welcome to the game and forums :-)
