Quote:My girlfriend watches TV while she plays, too (with CoH sound completely off). I wouldn't be able to stand that.Whether at work or at home, I typically have two monitors available. As such, I have something from Hulu playing on the other window.
While running missions, I usually play very high-energy electronic music. DJ Tiesto's Parade of Athletes syncs up very well with this game's pace. -
Quote:The folder is even named "Costumes" if I remember correctly. You can copy-paste the folder to your Test Server directory so you don't go crazy trying to re-make nice costumes when testing. They are saved locally, in a folder in your CoH directory. You should just be able to back them up from there.
Also, I've never had a problem seeing your avatar. -
Timed mission versus Malta in Oranbega. There's the fun kind of stress, and then there's THIS.
ANY of the "blue" caves (especially with the layered room).
Outleveling a story arc right before the last mission. Does this still happen?
And #1 is....
Contact sends me 2 zones away to talk to someone. I talk to them. They send me back to the Contact. The Contact sends me back to the zone I was just in for the mission(!?). We have backwards-engineered Rikti Tech, but we can't even use our bleeping cell phones? I understand when I have aquired the physical MacGuffin, that I need to take it somewhere. I just hate stupid "Go talk to Frank." missions.
"We must warn Captain Super right away! Go see him in China!"
"I could just text him..."

Quote:*emphasis mineThanks for the advise. Do you find yourself using Dwarf much? My PB is only at level 29 right now, but i got the feeling most people spent most of their time in Nova and human form*.
I'm mostly Human/Dwarf with my PB even though I have Nova. The Human can scrap, but when things get hairy, I Dwarf up. Nova just doesn't seem to add much to my Peacebringer experience. Yes, I'm aware that Nova's damage potential is unmatched
On my Warshade, I use Dwarf and Nova about equally, with the bulk of my time spent in Human (but only because the utility powers in that form boost the others). -
My favorite guy, my main, my first 50... is an Energy/Devices Blaster. The (former) friend who introduced me to the game warned me that I chose a "broken" build.
I punch holes in AV's without a problem. I solo'ed an EB level Lord Nemesis (No IO's at the time). When I'm in a team, I'm a some sort of "support Blaster", as my controller-y secondary powers tend to make a real difference when tactfully applied.
I don't do the most damage, but I always hit my target. I knock stragglers back into the main cluster of baddies, and AoE debuffs. When I solo, hard-hitters have to run a horrible gauntlet of caltrops, bombs, and gunfire before they finally get to me. Then I just knock them back into my keenly prepared Corridor of Ordeals, and they have to make that terrible journey once again.
Embrace your Energy/Devices. -

Ive been kicking around a powerset idea for awhile, and I would like to post it in the powerset suggestion thread, but Id like some help from everyone else to hurdle its obvious flaws before I post it in its final form. Pardon the powerset names, as this was originally imagined as an Incarnate Archetype set.
Since I had not intentioned it to be a normal AT powerset, Stalkers would have some trouble with it. Either Rally or Bodyguard would need to be switched out for Hide, with significant alterations to whatever is not switched out. I realize Bodyguard is likely to be a nightmare to develop (SCR).
The early defense powers are a little bleh. I need some help in determining where Defense Debuff resists, and End Reduction protection should go, and hard numbers overall. Its pretty obvious that it was based on Super Reflexes, and toning that down will take some thinking more creative than my own. I dont intend on common status protection going anywhere else but Force of Will (sorry folks) because that power is so unique. Perhaps the cabal can solve how to balance its recharge & effects. I have no idea what the Godmode power should look like numbers-wise. It seems pretty overpowered right now, too. Oh yeah, and the set needs a name! Without further ado:
Incarnate Defense
Primary Level: 1 Secondary Level: 1
Toggle: Defense S/L + Melee
Really boring needs fleshing out in utility and fun.
Incarnate Perfection
Primary Level: 1 Secondary Level: 2
Auto: Self + Regen +Recovery
Physical Perfection numbers (low).
Incarnate Awareness
Primary Level: 2 Secondary Level: 4
Auto: Defense Energy/NegEnergy + Ranged/AoE
Again, boring. Needs to be more full
Force of Will
Primary Level: 6 Secondary Level: 10
Click: Self + RES (Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Knockback). Minor DMG (smashing) PBAoE/KD
Picture Superman exploding out of a block of ice.
Rally
Primary Level: 8 Secondary Level: 16
Toggle: PBAoE Taunt aura, -Tohit, Fear (cower) Proc, +DMG for teammates. 5.5%(?)
Fear (cower) effect should be rare, but not so rare that its a joke.
Sense of Urgency
Primary Level: 12 Secondary Level: 20
Auto: Self +Res(-Recharge, -SPD), +Recharge (Special)
The lower your health, the faster your powers recharge. Slow resistance goes here.
Bodyguard
Primary Level: 18 Secondary Level: 28
Toggle: Special +RES (ALL)per teammate
10%(?) of damage caused to teammates is reduced, and applied to you. Each teammate increases your RES.
Leading the Charge
Primary Level: 26 Secondary Level: 35
Click: Buildup+PBAoE KUp +Minor DMG
Knockup effect lasts for the duration of the buff. (10 seconds) and every Knocked opponent gets KB protection after first application (no juggling).
Incarnate Unleashed
Primary Level: 32 Secondary Level: 38
Click: Self Rez + Godmode
You can go godmode either awake, or knocked out. If youre knocked out you get a Rez and Godmode. -
I think that your history with Blasters gives you a distinct advantage over someone who plays heavily status-resistant AT's since the Warshade has no inherent status resists.
With that said, if you play the early levels of your Warshade as though you were a Blaster, you'll probably do fine. I feel as though you may be overthinking it, and freaking yourself out. Much like any other AT, you can feel this one out. The only real difference is that there are many more choices than you're used to.
Certainly read the guides listed above, but consider everything as a very rough guide. The best universal advice I can give you is be prepared to change your playstyle with each unlocked power. If you keep the Blaster mentality for too long, you'll really sell yourself short. Have fun! -
It would be even cooler if you could only turn into things that you have defeated before. That sounds like a database nightmare, so how about you can only turn into (select) enemies that you would encounter within a level range?

So I've gone without Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning because I haven't found a way to buy a Going Rogue code and still get the neat little upgrades (Alpha and Omega costumes/auras and the invisibility power).
Can anyone direct me to information on this? I'd love to have Going Rogue ready to roll on my machine on release day, but I don't want to go without the cool little extras. Thanks! -

My success story is that I didn't crack my keyboard in half with frustrated rage when we failed miserably.
To be fair, the only reasons we failed were from lack of debuffs, and poor communication. -

3 instances:
- Role-Play
- Instant de-toggle for WW, or anything else that requires less garbage on screen.
- To "warm up" my girlfriend

No problem, Roberto. On all my support toons, at least one costume has classic colors on the buffs that matter. It's not so hard to look at the buff bar, but I don't mind taking the extra step.
Just a courtesy thing...like holding a door open, or an old-style Hami catsuit. -
Quote:This is an idea so good, I'm jealous I didn't think of it first! As the title says, I have a pair of suggestions:
First, add something to the login screen visible at server selection that shows your global friend list, so you can see who's online and where before logging in. Especially for people like me who play on multiple servers, so many times I've logged in and immediately logged right back out again to switch characters because everyone's on a different server, or because I logged into a hero and everyone's playing villains. Just a QoL thing really, makes it easier to play with friends.
Oh, and Controller power parity is good, too -
My main is a Blaster, and I have 3 others. My favorite AT's are Blaster and Warshade.

I really love the idea (particularly your take on it), but I get weird about repeat powersets. This even crosses archetype lines, which I know is a real disservice to myself since not all cross-archetype powersets were created equally.
Yesterday I nearly deleted my Kin/Psi defender because I have a Psi Blaster that I really enjoy.
I just can't get past the "been there, done that" vibe. -
My forum namesake, Gehnen, would go. He's one of those annoying "unfailing honor" types. He's dedicated to eradicating fear as a way to control people, and the Rikti certainly embody that.
As far as an in-game mechanic devised to simulate a desperate last stand in which your character gets permanently deleted? Hmm...
Well if the devs make it canon, I'd consider it. -
Some amazing stuff in here, guys. I no longer regret making this thread. After the really awesome villain letters in here, I realize my thread title is flawed. Here's a badguy letter to make amends:
Quote:Hello Earth,
Most of you will remember me as a villain, a label so liberally applied, its appalling. I have committed many crimes for reasons I wont get into, but Im not some monster. Ive tried explaining my actions countless times, only to have some hero rush in, and force-march me to jail. Of course all this is suddenly water under the bridge because I happen to be useful now. You fickle dolts. I really despise you. Actually, thats not fair. I despise what youve let yourselves become.
I hate your whole system, and now it looks like Im here to save it. Let me assure you that this is not the case. I dont want to be restricted by your ridiculous laws, ruled by your hopelessly flawed bureaucracies. Why have an appointed leader speak for me, when he never says what Im thinking? If I had my way, the world would be much better.
So you can understand why I dont want to be a slave to the Rikti anymore than I want to be your slave.
So here I am at your request I should add to save the world. Well, I will. Not for your reasons, which are too sniveling and embarrassing to repeat, but for mine. The Rikti did what I never had the power to do, and thats wipe the slate clean. So a grand opportunity has been bestowed upon you. In your eyes I must seem like some kind of sociopath for thinking such a thing right now, but how about you, future reader? Are things better? Did this tragedy bring about a better understanding of things, or did the world continue to cower in fear? Are there still ridiculous labels of hero and villain?
My sincere hope is that you can start over from this horror. Build a better society. Its all I ever wanted from you, humanity. No one really understood that before, but I hope you will now.
Besides, now you owe me one.

Don't forget Tsoo are also prone to KB. There's a couple more, aren't there?

I want Lightning Reflexes, and Quick Recovery for my Warshade

Great contribution, Dumpleberry! Beautifully written. That kind of post is what I was hoping for with this thread. Thank you
lol @ sleestack
In fact, I never expected outright ridicule like MageX's post. Shame on me for forgetting the cruetly of the internet, huh?
