  1. I don't use any macros or a special keyboard.

I use a $10 mouse that's 5 years old and has bite-marks on the cord from the cats.

I use an old e-machines keyboard.

However, I have mapped all my keyboard keys (except the function keys and the 10-key) to my Saitek X52 flight stick. But none of the keys are 'macroed', per se.

I have a hat switch that does shift/alt/ctrl.
I bind the target command to ].
    I bound tab = nop.
That way I don't accidently hit "alt+tab" during targetting and 'window out' of COH.

I bound h to "powexecname fly"
My D fire button does the H key.
What it lets me do is NOT have my travel power in my tray at all.
    I made [ = toggleon mouselook.

This lets me play without a mouse pointer on the screen.
It also lets me move, target enemies and teammates, have the 3 trays open all time, access 30 tray slots at once and have access to all 9 trays...yes, I use ALL NINE trays.

Maybe someday I'll make a guide about it.
But I don't use any keyboard macros.
If I want to fire 3 powers, I have to hit the 3 buttons for those power slots, alt if one is in tray 2, and ctrl if one is in tray 3.

But I will say one thing about my set up: there is NO ONE in the game that can fly like I can. NO ONE. Flying with a flight stick is the shizzaroonski.

After you click accept, you must go to the 'holographic contact' to get the mission. The holographic contact is what assigns you the first mish. Click the 'available missions' link. Accept the mish from there, then you're ready to go.

    Good Luck.

Ok, what the heck is the chicken tug emote?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a one-man version of the purse-snatching emote. Instead of trying to yank a purse away, you're holding a chicken that's desperately trying to fly away.

I think we're better off without it, exploit or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh THAT emote....HAHAHAHAHAHA, that's one of the funniest emotes I've ever seen. Too bad it got taken away.

Not to be a killjoy but, I loath any aspect of the game that will require me to click the "no I do not want to fight your twinked out pvp toon" button 50+ times a day, much less listen to the "but wai?" and 13 year old trash talk tells when I do click that button.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Easy. Have a zone PVP flag toggle. If your toggle's up, your PVP accessible, and you hear enemy chat. If it's not up, you see them, you can watch the fights as you go kill your 10 Outcast, and it's just extra eye candy to make a zone more lively.

I wouldn't force PVP on anyone. I WOULD like to make it more accessible and part of everyday occurrence however, even if it's just from the sidelines, thinking, "Wow, that looks cool."

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /SIGNED!!!! Helllllllllllllllllllll Yeah.

If a player 'flags off' for pvp...they couldn't be targetted or attacked. That would rule.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Yep, was talking about pvp. In my recent battles, it really comes down to who's lucky enough to land the first proc.

A typical battle goes like this: (My corr versus a blaster) we exchange a few volleys, the blaster is out damaging me (no surprise there), I hit my heal. At this rate, I am recovering enough hit points to really out damage the blaster. Boom, proc hits. I cannot do anything for 4 seconds. That is pretty much death.

Conversely, my proc hits him. At this point my chances of winning are favorable, but not as good as his was when his proc hits (should be? I don't know). The point is, the proc takes us out of AT vs AT combat.

Also, the proc holds longer than my stun attack which is purely slotted for stun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL

My blaster has Devastation Chance for Hold in ALL my single target attacks...plus 2 Dam/Range HOs...muhahahaha. Throw in PBU and Boost range...very nice.
  7. AR/Electric should do just fine in PvP:

Electric blaps have sleep attached to them, which will hit through PFF, since PFF isn't resistant to sleep.

You'll be able to drain endurance as well.

AR has really good range. If you can get enough +Per, you should be able to make stalkers visible sometimes.

Any build can pvp. It's only the darth noobians and their obsessive compulsive need to always make cloned copies of each other's characters that say only the FoTMs are worth building...which is complete garbage. They aren't good players and they don't have good skills and they are horrible to team with.

Maybe Castle got the idea for the pvp changes from the same select few "i got a pocket dev" buddies he entrusted the restructuring of dominators to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the changes to PvP stemmed from:
    1. Survey that went out by ncsoft that had PvP on it?
    2. Base raid play testing that 'wasn't fun' when the devs were testing some base raid changes (I would have suggested either bringing a Kinetic or asking whoever was playing the earth controller to stop putting quicksand in front of the raised door)
    3. The extreme skill cap that PvP had. Lets face it, the players who practiced PvP were a whole lot better than the ones that didn't and thats not right! Now the training wheels are on and its like someone put saltpeter into the community's drink

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lighthouse told us that the PvP changes were not for the PvP players, I take that to mean past, present or future given how small the PvP playerbase is in game and those who didnt PvP wouldnt be interested regardless of "rules"

I see the PvP zones simply as a live testbed for Castles bad ideas on how to "save" COx with CO and DCU coming up fast. I just wonder how many powersets we could have had with all the effort he went through to ruin PvP and turn it into a generic fistfight where primary melee attacks are not worth taking when you can get the ET beating wonder that is flurry

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yawn...thou doth protest too much.

...And for someone to even make a comment like adapt in move on probably wasn't successful in pvp until i13. Or just can't understand the difference, from lack of pvping. And yes it's a shame when things have gotten so bad that the old way seems good in comparison.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let's get something really clear. The players in old pvp...the pre I-13 widow players, the 3 button click stalkers, the perma-doms with 4 accounts to buff their character and teleport them to safety...may have been successful, but that does NOT mean they were any good. These are not the types of players that make good company on teams.

The players, like me, that love pvp, think all the complainers and whiners of old pvp are out to lunch. So, now that I've said my piece I'm going to RV and I'm going PWN me some stalkers...like I always do.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I just wonder if everyone who prefers i12 style pvp over this new pvp, if we all made a petition would castle change it back?. With hard numbers of player base disapproving of the new pvp?

Castle has to be a reasonable man, i just refuse to believe he's this stubborn on purpose. When i13 was in closed beta, we pointed out what wasnt really good about it and he just seemed to ignore us. Then that whole debacle with the "things you like positive about i13 pvp" (which was like 3 pages long) And "The things you don't like about i13 pvp" (which was like 100 or so pages long)

It was an incredible disparity, sometimes you just have to man up and go back to the drawing board. I13 clearly needed to be reworked, re thunk, redid, reconditioned and any other re's i missed just take it away. I did well in i12 pvp, i did well in i13 pvp, i guess what? still do well in i14 pvp. And to be honest i can use toons in i13-14 pvp that i didn't really excel with in i12 or before i12.

Yet i12 was way more fun, more competitive, less button mashers, all it needed was a tweak here or there. A buff to a set here, a added power there and it would be cool. But i put this out there and hopefully the devs will look at it.

I12 pvp in it's old form, add the new patrons/epics, buff weaker sets like dark melee, electric blast. Add the taunt -range deal, i can even take DR on outside buffs heals. That would be cool DR on OUTSIDE BUFFS or HEALS, Id even suggest a feature that makes buffs weaker the further you are from the caster that would cut back on base bot using super toons.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh NO...I like pvp just the way it is, thank you.

No dropping toggles and no assassin strike being unresistable.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I can't believe this list is still up and stickied. It's just serves as evidence and a reminder that the PvP'rs actually knew what should've been done in order to improve PvP in this game. Instead we had it destroyed by the arrogance of those in power that had convinced themselves that they knew what was best for PvP. Oh well, so much for rational alternatives, explanations of why the devs's ideas were bad, and the thorough testing which proved those explanations to be accurate, huh? Too bad the logical alternatives were never considered and that the PvP population continues to be a shell of its previous self, further proving what the majority of us said all along. CoH PvP, RIP. gg devs

    Revert I13

    [/ QUOTE ]

lol Revert I13...uhm No...there is nothing wrong with PvP. That's why every night in RV I see a huge number of villains in RV. I only wish most of them had more talent; some do, but most do not.
  13. I don't fear any corruptor.
My defender kills corruptors (and stalkers).
Sure I get my butt handed to me as well...but when I get my shot on a stalker of corruptor, I can kill a corruptor or stalker with about 4 shots.
    AM resists -end.
    AM boosts damage.
AM resists pretty much everything...except fear.
With 2 Dam/Range HOs and 4 Devastations in everything (single target attacks)...pure ownage of loudmouth, know-it-all villain scrubs in the pvp zones...muhahahaha.

    ahem

btw, I use power sync to suck out peeps Endurance.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Oh btw, when you zone, it will double stack. So you can get up to two minutes of invisibility right after you enter a mission. (I used that tidbit a lot when I used to do solo speed runs for the Twilight Sun / Mender Lazarus TFs.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a bug...the double stacking is going to be fixed.

Yes...slotting it in hover works as well.

Regarding the whole "non-taunting waste of a scrapper" thing... its gotta be a joke. Since we're talking about spines/willpower specifically: Taunt aura ..Damage Aura ..Ranged attack that just so happens to also immobilize (for the runners that were mentioned) ...where was I going with this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, well good luck with your scrapper, I'm sure you'll do just dandy without taunt. But don't sit there and act like I don't know what I'm talking about. I know how to play scrappers, and I like em with taunt.
  16. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

    "All the old PvP'ers left..."

I keep hearing that, but I sure don't see that in the pvp zones.

Old pvp RV was a ghost town...now I always find darth noobians to pound on.

In other words..."You have figured out one of the 100 reasons why 90% of the PvP playerbase quit the game when I13 came out" is flat out WRONG. It just simply isn't true. Your friends on your friendlist might have quit, but methinks they weren't all that good to begin with when their FOTMs lost some of their inherent advantages in old pvp.

    Heavies in RV...

    [ QUOTE ]
Been getting held quite a bit from the Blue side heavies on my stalker of late. The hold is lasting about 15 seconds on my Spines / WP stalker. This is a bit rediculous given that we are all nerfed now versus holds. This certainly gives the Blue side one heck of an advantage. The Red side heavies have no such advantage.

Me and a friend did some experimenting, the Red side heavy has no hold of this magnitude. Out test was against a blaster with an all SO build and no armor or acrobatics.

We did a quick test of the heavies as well. We dueled each type a few times to see which side had a more powerful heavy versus the other. The Blue side heavy won every match out of 5. We started the heavies roughly thirty feet apart. We are going to retry this test with each heavy starting at point blnk range but suspect the same result do to the Blue side heavies KB.

Heavies are part of the zone and I enjoy using them as much as any other player. I would certainly like to see them equal for each side. The long hold is too great an advantage Blue side. Can we get a similar hold on the Red side heavies? Can we equalize the two a bit more maybe?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I suppose when the arachnos heavy does it PBAOE electric power on my tanker hosing him completely for 15 secs...I was just imagining that.

Check out the new vetaran 60 month badge. Now not only will we have tons of people with nem staff but we won't have to take hover or combat jump if we don't want to. Everyone will have nem staff SS, SJ in almost any build. /sarcasm Sounds very fair for the noobs...

    [/ QUOTE ]

In 60 months of playtime...you too can get a flapjack staff and a travel at level 6.

I only plan on taking that perk on 1 toon...on liberty for teleport without a recall/tp foe.
  19. No rating system is going to be perfect.
I think the 5 star approach is fine.
Lets keep the rating system simple, eh?
Any system of rating will never be able to make everyone happy and besides, after a while the ratings will even out when more people rate things.

    nrg/nrg

    [ QUOTE ]
is nrg/nrg still a decent pvp toon? right now i am specced as a blapper but obviously i could respec or should i just reroll? also what is the best epic for blasters?

    thanks for the help

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I got a level 50 nrg/nrg blaster.
Originally I took fitness, fly, and body armor from munitions.
Recently I dropped fitness for hasten and conserve power and force mastery.
I'm going to make build #2 my old build...I liked it very much.
My build is pretty simple...since I took all 18 nrg powers, 6 slotted the blasts, and 4 slotted the blaps.
  21. I disagree with skipping taunt.
Scrapper players that don't take their taunt are the reason blasters quit teams.
    Non-taunting scrappers are a waste.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Okay, so the title's a joke. I don't really expect the Scrapper Fire APP to be named "Pyro Mastery." Even though that is only one letter off from the Tanker equivalent, Pyre Mastery. And perfectly captures the essence of the Scrapper mentality.

Anyway, whatever name the Fire APP ends up having, here's what I'd like it to look like.

<ul type="square">[*]Fire Blast : As Blaster power (damage reduced). Basic requisite single target ranged attack.[*]Hot Feet : As Controller/Blaster power (radius reduced). Even with the endurance drain, this is something that would be extremely useful. My only concern is that Caltrops vastly overpowers it (much cheaper for endurance, placeable, stackable, similar damage level). Still, I'd cheerfully take this power for some characters.[*]Rain of Fire : As Blaster power (damage reduced?). It may sound odd, exchanging what is certainly a better attack in the Tanker APP (Fire Ball) for this power... but I just can't see how any Scrapper could pass up the opportunity to make it rain fire.[*]Heat Exhaustion : As Corrupter power (recharge increased?). A lot of people were probably expecting to see Melt Armor here, but the tanker version of the power is so pathetically weak and slow-charging it's hardly worth bothering with (especially now that we have that delicious new -res PBAoE proc, which can slide right on in to Blazing Aura). I doubt the Scrapper version would be much better. So, instead, a single-target debuff, hearkening back to the olden days in which Scrappers' class role was bosskilling. Yeah, it won't be as good as Corruptor or Controller HE, but... I'd hit that.[/list]
    [/ QUOTE ]

    I think instead:

    char
    Ring of fire
    fire blast
    rain of fire
    fire ball

I wish they would also add in rain of fire for the controller APP.
  23. I don't understand why players can't do both.

If ya want to fight club...then fight club.

If ya don't want to fight club...then don't.

If a player says he wants to duel, I leave him alone.

If a player is dueling and another guy comes up to gank them (and I happen to be there)...I attack the ganker.

However, if the player is a big trash talker...all bets are off...I whip em!!!

Sonic/em is still good in i14. If you don't want to roll /em then roll /mental or /elec .

Also don't get pff like a some queeerosexualz are doing now adayz. Pff sucks in i13 and even more in i14. Take ice epic. I have a few builds with Hoarfrost, which can give you a good HP boost and a Heal you can use like once or twice a match. If your on a team with buffer you can use it 4 - 5 times a match, which is much better then aid self.
