I've got Vengeance. That makes me a healer, right?
-
When I'm looking for Purples, I generally run at -1/x8, no bosses or AVs. Thus far, I've done about 1 purple per game session.
The downside is that most non-purple set recipes will be lv49, which don't sell as well. -
There's no way to prevent the Rage crash. However, if you can get two (or more) copies of Rage going at once, the -Defense portion of the crash won't occur. So... slot recharge.
-
There is no penalty for keeping the base around if you didn't want it anyway. You'll lose power and then you'll lose access, but if you didn't want it then neither of those is a problem.

So I was running some missions from Borea, doing my best to get in her pants... I mean... obsessively filling her compatibility meter... err...
.
What do I find in my mission, but two Advanced Drones having a conversation:
[NPC] Advanced Drone: Guard Duty: Lacks Honor
[NPC] Advanced Drone: Profound Realization: You Complain
Now, this witty banter is funny by itself. It's even funnier when you consider the description of the drones:Quote:They're primarily recon/surveillance machines. Machines. One of which complains too much about guard duty.During the Rikti War these flying Drones swarmed all over the city's skies. Today these machines still sweep through the air with some frequency. Their quick evasive maneuvering, sophisticated scanners and powerful energy cannon make them a constant menace.
Come, friends, as we once more share our stories of the witticisms the NPCs leave us with. In particular, lines which don't really suit the NPC saying them! -
It's not really 'tech', though. It's just making the distance between the water surface that the floor more than 3 feet.

Edit: theoretically, any even-numbered die could be produced in the dipyramidal shape, though it'd get ridiculous with higher numbers. Similarly, any die could be made in the 'crystal' shape, but higher numbers get a bit ridiculous.
Err... wouldn't you just roll a d% and a d10? d% for the tens place, d10 for the ones place. ta-da! -
Quote:Defense enhancement is schedule B, so it would be ~22.5% after enhancement, not ~30% (unless you're exploiting defense debuff HOs). Normal slotting plus Power Build Up would be ~37%. (~44% with debuff HOs and PBU)Yes it is. But don't twist my meaning. I said it doesn't completely protect you, and it doesn't. It's +15% defense, around +30% enhanced at 50 and possibly more if Power Boosted.
I only really care about hitpoint loss if (1) we're unable to defeat the target before everyone on the team runs out of HP/before everyone gets back from the hospital, or (2) people are dying so often that it's significantly slowing us down. -
Quote:The GR CE, as so far mentioned, is CoH + CoV + GR + 30 days play time (so, it's good for a new player). GR regular (and the prepurchase is just regular) is just GR - you must have an active subscription to make any use of it.Or, to cut through all the dithering and tangental issues, yes, there will be a downloadable version of Going Rogue with all the goodies.
There may be stuff in the physical box, and there may be in-game stuff to come with the CE, but no dev has mentioned it.
There will also be an online-only $10 upgrade from GR regular to GR CE, but unless there are in-game goodies I'm not sure what the benefit is, since there would be no physical goodies if any exist (the upgrade is online-only) and to my understanding the upgrade doesn't include the 30-day play time. I suppose if someone purchased regular GR, got an account set up, and then wanted to go someone aside from Praetoria... or there's something else in GR CE. -
Quote:A server list merge would also be a great time to update the server selection page. Say, grouping servers by world location. We've got 'east coast' and 'west coast' servers over here, but most people don't know which is which. Hell, I couldn't tell you without looking it up.I dont think adding more slots would help.
I DO think a Server List merge would help.
Why? Well, for a start there would be no more 'This side or that' feeling. NA vs EU, or whatever. There would also be no more confusion over buying a code/upgrade pack, only to find it only works on the other side.
In the past I was very much against it, possibly due to ingnorance and naivety
I think there may be a technical reason for it not happening atm...which is a shame. But, as far as I can make out (which admitedly isnt all that great) a server list merger would be the best way to help out, possibly on both sides. -
Quote:In theory, granting knockback resistance that is less than 100% (instead of granting knockback protection) would turn knockback into knockdown. In principle, knockback should be reduced to knockdown within the confinement field (such reduction probably can't be easily implemented under the current game mechanics).
In practice, it doesn't work so well simply due to the magnitudes of the KB powers players have access to. -
Quote:NCSoft hired a large majority of the Cryptic team working on CoH away from Cryptic to work directly for NCSoft. At the same time, NCSoft bought the CoH IP from Cryptic, and began licensing the engine/etc. used by CoH. CoH was then under the purview of "NCNorCal" which consisted essentially of the team that was hired away from Cryptic.Same company?
Didn't Cryptic left CoH when ParagonStudios bought it?
NCNorCal became Paragon Studios later. -
Quote:No, what makes people complain that CoV is City of Henchmen is that villains are almost always working for someone else, not that the schemes don't succeed (and, actually, many of the villain story arcs do have the villains winning). The problem is that it's difficult to write a contact that has your character set up as the one being proactive, rather than just following orders.CoV was always going to be City of henchmen... villains are all about change and destruction - for a villain to truly win/succeed, they'd have to change the game world in some way, which just isn't possible to do.
The natural state in the Hero vs. Villain dynamic - whether the heroes win or lose - is that villains are proactive and heroes are reactive; villains scheme, and heroes try to stop them. But in the MMO format, it's extremely hard to write the story where the player is the one making the scheme. So, most contacts have the player working for them, as either a lackey or a mercenary. This frustrates some players, who want a more independent character. -
Quote:A sound stage... on Mars!I'm gonna guess the moon landing.
Edit: specifically that the moon landing was filmed on a sound stage.
That's "Agent Eff" to you! -

It made me giggle a bit. And, as Sam say, they did put some good thought into it. I'm sufficiently amused

Quote:Except that both are competing for the same customers. If one game sufficiently beats the other in quality, the loser will likely run out of business as its customers move to the better product. This may be compounded with upcoming DCUO.Both CO and CoX are good games and different enouh to both have a place in the world - there's no real need for either to fear the other.
That said, I think having a direct competitor is a good thing (for both games). It fosters innovation and impells the developers to work harder and faster to make their product good. While CO isn't my cup of tea, I would rather that it stick around. -
What Billy said, basically.
NPCs will aggro on you with 'proximity aggro' when the distance between you and them is [Their perception] - [Your stealth], or closer. Minions such as Rikti Drones have a perception of 45ft, so a drone will never see you until you're 45ft away. (Some enemies do have increased perception, such as Vanguard Sword. Base perception is also a factor of enemy rank; minions have 45ft perception, bosses have 54ft, and snipers have 149ft, for example.)
Stalkers, with the highest stealth cap in the game (300ft), will still get spotted by [Improved/Advanced] Drones and Watchers at 45ft, Observers at 50ft, and Overseers at 54ft. No more, no less. A Blaster with a -180ft stealth radius will also be seen by the Drones and Sentries at the same range. They don't have increased perception - that would make them aggro before your client even rendered them. They simply ignore your stealth radius when the game calculates whether they can see you or not.
Unfortunately, a critter that aggros on you can make their entire spawn aggro on you, which sucks when trying to stealth a Rikti or Rularuu mission. -

Quote:Amusingly, the immobilize powers which confer knockback protection do not provide repel protection, so Hurricane and Force Bubble can still move immobilized enemies arounda chunk of characters rely on the AOE immob providing -knockback (Storm most notably, but my Claws/Elec Brute uses it too)
-
Immob doesn't stop knockdown. Knockback protection stops knockdown (and knockback) .
Many immobs grant knocback protection (mag 100, IIRC), but not all do. Midnight Grasp, Tenebrous Tentacles, Crush, and Crushing Field all allow knockdown (and knockback) after being used. -
Quote:I'm banking on the assumption that the physical box will include something. Even if I turn out to be wrong, the CE version ($40) comes with a month of game time ($15 value), while the normal version ($30) does not. And since I don't have a burning need to play DP or DS powersets NAO (I was in the DP beta, I may be in the DS beta, and I've already got my focus on a few other MMs on Live), and I have Loyalty Program status. So there's no real incentive for me to prepurchase GR.The higher price version coming out at a GR release is the Complete Edition, not a collectors edition.
So, yeah.
GR: Access to GR
Prepurchase GR: Early access to DP and DS (don't need it), tier 3 access to GR beta (I'm already in tier 2), and access to GR
GR CE: Access to GR, possible physical bonus, and a net $5 gain on purchasing regular GR.
