Change Mutant's Early Level Temp Attack Power!!

Throwing mutagen at people feels an awful lot like a monkey throwing feces. Could we not get a different early level attack temp power? Something cool, like all the other origins have? Something heroic maybe? Something the X-men would be proud of?

Natural - throwing knife (could anything be more awesome?)
Science - Tranq Dart
Tech - Taser Dart
Magic - Magic orb thing

All of those are awesome. They make sense. They make your character seem even cooler than they already are. Surely there's some kind of ranged power that is more appropriate for Mutants than throwing Mutagen.

This is a suggestions forum, so I'll leave it to other posters to actually suggest ideas for what would be a good replacement power. (I don't actually have any suggestions in mind myself.)

Not how suggestions work.

It's a start. The suggestion that it should be changed is fair enough. That the OP is at a loss for what would be better might mirror the conceptual difficulties that led to it being what it is, but surely someone has a better idea. I don't have one, but there's gotta be something better than the mutant cooties attack we currently have.

I've got it!

We can throw a small capsule of Acid that does minor toxic damage and will debuf damage!

"Something loose in cockpit" isn't helpful, unless you want replies varying from "Something tightened in cockpit" to "And then the copilot left."

Besides, if that's "fair enough," then so's "I think it's perfectly fine as is."

The OP makes a comment that seems to imply his issue is with the animation ("Looks like you're flinging monkey poo") and says all the other origins have "cool" powers:

Animation for Mutagen:
You reach toward your hip, and throw a tiny something cross-body (left arm/right hip.)

Animation for one of the "cool" powers (Science - tranq dart) :
You reach toward your hip, and throw a tiny something cross-body (left arm/right hip.)

Animation for another "cool" power (Magic - Apprentice charm) :
You reach toward your hip, and throw a tiny something cross-body (left arm/right hip.)

Animation for another "cool" power (Tech - Taser dart) :
You reach toward your hip, and throw something cross-body (left arm/right hip,( having wires appear in midair a few inches from your hand.

So if the OP is talking about wanting a "cool" animation to match the other "cool" powers, he doesn't have a leg to stand on because he already has one.

Hey, some of us like throwing our DNA at people, okay?!

I chose Mutagen specifically for throwing gas bombs at bad guys. Even picked the Ampules belt so that you could see all the gas bombs.

Since all of the animations involve flinging, an observant person might recognize that the issue isn't necessarily the animation but more likely what's being flung.

This is a roleplaying game. He can learn to use his imagination.

When my Ninja uses his temp power it's a shuriken.
When my Cowboy uses it it's a Bowie knife.
When my Indian uses it it's a tomahawk.
When my Soldier uses it it's a K-bar.
When my dirty fighting mutant uses it it's rock salt, dirt, ground glass.
When my Faerie/elf/whatever uses it it's faerie dust.
When my cyborgs/robots/pwoer armor guys use it it's an arc-thrower

The OP's suggestion is that the devs fix his brain. That's not their responsibility it's his. If the only thing he can think of is that it looks like flinging feces then he needs to see a therapist to figure out why that's the only thing he can imagine.

You may as well condemn us all to playing nondescript monocoloured stick figures swinging and hurling identical little lines and say we should be happy with it because we can imagine those little lines to be whatever object/energy we want and we can imagine we have costumes. Gullywash. This isn't a roleplaying game, it's a graphical representation of a roleplaying game, and thus the importance of visual aesthetic is, well, unimaginable.

Um... Yeah. Literally anything else would be more awesome.

As far as Mutagen goes, I really don't like any of the Origin Attacks, especially since they're stuck as tempermanent attacks. At least put them in as inherent. I have bloody Prestige Power Slide on my enhancements screen, but not this?

Would you prefer a sheet of paper, a pencil, a set of oddly shaped dice, and if your lucky a miniature you painted yourself that represents your character? Cuz I still play those games.

I haven't played an PnP in something like two years, yet I still have my backpack in my truck, with my box of dice (each set separated of course,) mini's, notebooks, pencils, etc.

This was just over 20 years ago but I remember a friend got me involved in a space combat game where we played by mail against people in other states. I tried to stick it out but lost interest after a couple months.

So do I, and I have different expecations for those games than for video games.

It really doesn't matter to me, Those temp power are pretty useless, Brawl make a better weapon then that power. Beside people rarely use those Inherent power like mutagen, Once you climb the lvl train to a higher lvl toon, you don't use them at all.
