Why is this thread even here? Isn't there a "Forum Games" forum?

Lol, b/c it's not a game... its a contest. And that's just how P_K rolls!

    [/ QUOTE ]

definition of contest: an occasion on which a winner is selected from among two or more contestants

definition of game: a contest with rules to determine a winner; "you need four people to play this game"

    [/ QUOTE ]
I kinda knew that already... I was joking.

Oops, sorry, didn't pick up on it. ><
    In other news, cool name.

Interesting how the same posters always agree with each other. There's like an invisible line of "us" and "them".

    Strange.

I CAN raise the gamma in the game and see at night. It just makes anything that's NOT a night in Sharkhead Island or Grandville horribly washed-out and unpleasant. I'm already seeing the shadow maps of many textures in places that are supposed to be dark.

Any game that has near-perfect darkness, or darkness on a background with a lot of blacks and browns yet does NOT offer a flashlight or other means of lighting your way is going to be hard to see in. I wouldn't mind darkness if I could light it up, but as it stands, my choice is between very dark nights and good-looking days, or visible nights and bleached-out days.

A couple of people have already mentioned it, but I also believe getting a new monitor will change your life. The same thing happened to my monitor awhile back.

    Cheers!

I am curious, can anyone name one super hero who has virtually no powers of their own to help themselves but great powers to help others? I mean if a super hero can make other people immune to mind control, shouldn't they also be immune to mind control? The same with fire resistance and cold resistance?
I am just curious where the devs came up with this concept and what super hero/heroine that they based it off of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's that Japanese guy in Heroes - not the time-traveling one, but his friend. In the previous season, he got red electric stuff on his hands that made it so when he touched somebody else it amplified their powers.
  6. Mm. Kudos.

One of the few truly funny humor posts I've seen on these boards.

I'd be surprised if Going Rogue comes out this year too, although putting a new box on the shelves prior to the holidays would be a huge boon IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I'm expecting it this holiday season, sometime between Black Friday and Christmas.

    Fingers crossed!

Did I hear something about a completely revamped costume maker coming? I think it was in the Going Rogue announcement. Did I just imagine that?

Maybe, just maybe, they'll finally expand the legs section and add a bunch more details all over. That would be cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously? This sounds amazing if it's true!!
  11. Seeing this thread was SUCH a refreshing change compared to the average caliber of threads lately.

I wish I had a FF-er at the appropriate level--I would totally help you out on this one!

It used to be pvp'ers that were the source of all evil in the game. The devs took that opinion to heart and ran them all out of the game.

Now it is the farmers that are the source of all evil and the devs are making a stand against them.

The farmers know that to kill them they need to drastically alter the game. Which, unlike the pvpers they were able to kill by changing all the rules in their confined zones and dropping a chemical weapon in there. It has no impact on pve.

The war against farmers will be long and bloody. There will be many casualties and the collateral damage will be extensive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my opinion, this was an extremely ignorant thing to say.

PvPers the root of all evil in the game? Are you kidding me? Just because somebody plays the game differently than you does NOT mean that they are evil.

The same goes for farmers. Some people just enjoy the game in different ways. This does NOT make them evil.

    Mystery Solved!

    LOL.

    This is a revolutionary breakthrough.

I think Reyne_Maker brought up valid points--there's no reason to get all COH IS PERFECT on us. We all know that isn't true, and that there has been some dissent recently.

That being said, I can say that I'm still very much enjoying this game, and that if you RP, not much has changed...except the addition of the wonderful story-telling tool known as AE. I think it's worth resubscribing even for just a month to check it out.

-A stage and an NPC band to go with them, either one for each side or one in the center and we'd get different bands made up of different enemy groups or sometimes just an original band.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Orrrr...guitar/bass/drum/singing emotes so we can form our own bands!
  17. Would more power slots even help? To me, it seems like ED would make having a 12-slotted power not very useful.

    - Enemy groups

Why wouldn't, say, the Council go after your natural whatever, Crey go after Science, the Freakshow start going after tech, CoT against Magic... not quite sure who against Mutant. Just so you have an occasional ambush leading to a mission or some such.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I like.
  19. I'm actually gonna go the opposite direction on this one, OP--

I think origins should just be taken out. Why? I see origins as an artifact of an interesting idea that was experimented with and eventually tossed out...except for the origins part that we have today.

As it is now, it's mainly an RP tool--but what prevents us from simply including a blurb about it in our character bios? This also solves the problem of multi-origin characters. What if I had a magic-user that also used technology?

AFAIK, the only thing in-game that origin determines are things like SOs and DOs. Is distinguishing between origins REALLY necessary for that? You could just as easily have 3 tiers of enhancements (basic, intermediate, advanced, or something like that).

I dunno, just my thoughts on the matter. On the other hand, I suppose it IS cool having the origin symbol thing by your name. XD

Maybe people that have been around awhile, but today alone some bratty little kser was going around 'helping' when obviously no help was needed and they didn't seem to understand the concept of 'don't ks people who aren't in your team'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is no such thing as "KSing" in this game. You get credit for the kill if you've done something like 25% of the damage to a mob. So does the other person. And the XP is divided based on the amount of damage you've done.

To the thread in general... after spending months of my personal time helping people out in game... I'm tired of all the people that get pissed at my presumption. I've seen way too many "noob newbs" out there.... too many people that act offended if you offer advice and information. So I gave up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, but by them interfering after a few misses, they take the xp for theirs and I'm left with none. That to me defines KSING.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. If I'm a lowbie and a L50 comes by and offs the guy I was trying to kill in one shot, it's a bit annoying because I have to go look for another victim.

    While not against it -

How would you handle making sure that it's actually something the SG (in general) agrees on, as opposed to just the super leader?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

There should also be a fee for changing an SG name. Something heftier than the price of a character name change because it can affect up to 150 players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And then who pays for it? Issues concerning real money can get quite prickly...especially if there are up to 150 members involved.

2, I opened the editor and clicked on the main mission setting page, aka the pen, and when to look at the suveiener and the text was just blinking and flashing soo i couldnt read it. I tried clicking on the text but it didnt help. this is the only text that has done this to date.

[/ QUOTE ]I have read that some fields that are close to the text limit (i.e. 3000 chars for Souvenir text) will do this - seems to be a bug with how the field resizes itself to fit the text or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm a bit busy at work, so this is a bit rushed - but to my understanding, here's what's probably happening...

I think it's because things like newlines are inserted afterwards - for example, if you have two newlines like so:
    Code:

Whereas it actually will look like:
    Code:

    <br>
    <br>

The newlines don't count as any characters (or it might count as one, I'm not actually sure) - but here's the kicker - the HTML for a newline is <br> which 4 characters - so if you're close to the character cap without the <br>, you might be over it with the <br> inserted.
