There should also be a fee for changing an SG name. Something heftier than the price of a character name change because it can affect up to 150 players.

And then who pays for it? Issues concerning real money can get quite prickly...especially if there are up to 150 members involved.
I run several SG's on Freedom, and all of them have high population. Theyn way I've handled it up til now is that the SUper leader (and main leader before that) is basicly the "owner" of the SG/VG and desicions are made by that person with input from the rest of the SG, but they get the final say.

Yes please. I'd love to be able to change the name of at least one of my SG's. I inherited an SG that had a bad rep and I'd like to change the name and rebuild the SG as I'm the only one left in it.
What of players who inheirt SG by default? Say, some player has their account banned and next player inherits it by default and wants to change SG/VG name.
(I know of 2 situations. One involded a friend who's VG leader had their account banned or deleted (whatever) and the VG was inherited. They'd like to change the name. The other is with me. I inherited an SG where the main player who started it has been offline for 1 year. Yeah, I'd say that's a safe bet that they won't be back some time soon.)

The SG should lose prestige since changing the name of an SG reflects its reputation to the public. If you are not comfortable with the name of the SG, do you think the public will be comfortable with your group as a whole. It makes the group seem unorganized or indecisive. Not to mention how are the going to know that the new group is actually the old group...it takes time to rebuild that reputation.

Although I like the idea of a prestige fee (in addition to a cash fee) how would you determine an equitable cost?
Too high and smaller SG's wouldn't be able to afford it.
Too low and it would be meaningless to larger SG's.
If it is based on a percentage of the total amount an SG earned, some SG's might have to sell off part of their base to pay the fee.

I'm not sure, but you are right. In fact I was going to suggest that it would be a percentage of the prestige they have left, but that is easily overcome by simply spending it until it is gone and then doing the name change then selling all the stuff you bought back...so that won't even work.
How about the fee being paid from the prestige that players earn while playing. So a percentage is taken from what all players earn until it is paid in full.

A percentage seems the fairest way to go (let's use 5% of the total prestige earned by an SG), but the problem I see with the idea of earning while playing is that the amount will always be increasing.
For example
The fee of 5% for an SG with 1,000,000 prestige would be 50,000
While the fee for an SG with 2,000,000 prestige would be 100,000
Unless there was a way to redirect all prestige earned from the date of the notification of a desire to change the SG name to an name change account.
Then again, what's to stop an SG from putting in for a name change when the SG is still new, and has very little prestige and not using it right away. Kind of like saving it for a rainy day.
Should the devs require an SG have a minimum amount of prestige earned before an SG name can be changed? If so what would the minimum be?
Should it be based on how long an SG has been active?
Should SG members be required to vote on it?
If so how are inactive members going to be dealt with? This could c ause a rash of people getting booted simply because they don't play frequently enough.
Also requiring a vote could cause a rash of players getting booted because they vote against the Super Leader that wants to change an SG name.

That's simple. It doesn't matter what the SG members think, it's what the leader thinks. As leader, you already make decisions that your SG may not necessarily agree with. You decide who has what rights, who doesn't. This wouldn't be any different.

If you don't like it and you are not the leader, leave. Form your own SG with the old name.
In many cases it is the leaders that founded the SG and theirs to do with as they please. If you are not the leader, you may still contribute to prestige but it is still up to the leader if that means you get acces to use storage in the base or not.
Yes please alow name changes. Just make it for 1 time per year or cost lots of prestige.

Exactly. Only times I've seen a rename be necessary is after a person's been genericed, or a names not available on a new server, and you get those renames for free.
If a person really feels the desire to change a name they can cough up the cash for it. The devs put the fees on name changes, server transfers, and respecs for a reason. To make people think twice before doing it.
An SG offers players many benefits and the fee for an SG name change should reflect those advantages.
You're (generic you're) not asking to change the name of a characters that could easily be rerolled. An SG represents a commitment of time and effort by many players and shouldn't be allowed lightly.

At best $10 and no prestige charge. B/c if its real money and coming out of ONE persons pocket. 10 bucks seems like fair cost.
