  1. Those top issues you listed are important, but I wanted to ask this will Pet A.I. issues ever get touched on at all in 2007? 2008? Honestly will it take me going back to school for video game programing just so I can get a job working at Cryptic Studios for free just so I can fix the Pet A.I. myself? I can promise you this, if Pet A.I. ever gets fixed you will see healthier numbers of people playing different powersets instead of the constant FoTM builds.

    This video clip just disgusts me. I get tired of all these folks saying video games are corrupting kids, when the truth is parents need to teach their kids good morals. If the parents dont instill these morals then those kids would be bad anyways whether it was movies, video games, or even music. Parents are to blame not the kids. I am a firm believer that parents should beat their kids as needed. If you dont put the fear in your child at an early age they get out of hand way before you can put the morals in them. In some individuals will just not have it in them to be bad people no matter what stimuli or morals are taught, just as there are folks that are bad no matter what you teach them. For those bad individuals they need psychological help.
  3. I re-installed windows and coh so everything is fresh this go around. I will try some teams tonight hopefully they wont turn out bad from all the crashing.

    Our holds have pathetic, minor to moderate damage. Even at a blaster base damage they would do very, very little. Compare that to Fire sword Circle or Total Focus or several other blaster secondaries.

    Blasters have an entire set devoted entirely to damage. 5-8 damage abilities at range, compared to maybe 4 that a dominator gets outside of holds. The damage of our ranged abilities doesn't come close if we stick to a ranged chain (and I constantly gripe at dominators that refuse to melee)

    No final-tier nuke. trust me, even at blaster base damage, that final tier nuke makes a HUGE difference.

    No Boost. Most get aim. Most blasters get aim+boost (and there is no way in heck a dominator, even under the effects of domination and an aim, and even a couple of reds, can pack the punch of a boosted nuke)

    So, in short, even if we got the base blaster Damage we would still not be outdamaging blasters at range, and doubtful we would be outdamaging scrappers at melee either (except dark, but that's a special case cause dark scrappers have better controls than dominators)

    If you want to 'even it out' then make domination not affect your damage output. In fact, a lot of people would love this change as it would allow them to work out a more 'stable' style of fighting, particularly against minions.


    But I don't think giving Dominators a blaster's base damage would negatively impact blasters or corrupters in the slightest, and at least on LRSF and other SF's they would be desired for their nice damage output, even if their holds are... less stable than desired.
    Blasters would still outdamage in range and melee, controllers would still out-control, Scrappers and brutes would still outdamage in melee and outdefend, stalkers would still pick off the bosses better, corrupters would still outbuff, masterminds would still outtank, Kheldians would still do...whatever it is Kheldians do.

    I agree with you 100%.
    For solo missions dominators are just gimped ice/* blasters. A few holds and weak damage. If ice blasters can get good holds and great damage why cant we? I dont think that it would be overpowered. For the most part I think it would balance out the aggro issues we have, mobs would have an actual reason to go postal on us instead of going postal when being tickled by an aoe immobilize.
  6. The only npc hostage that follow you in stealth are the ones that can possibly die. These will be the npcs that have powers to defend themselves.
  7. I finally had a chance to do one of these missions, they are just not fun when compared to mayhem missions. My VG would run the upper level mayhems for mad xp and totally destroy everything on the map. Hero side you just dont have the same feel. It is human nature to want to destroy stuff which is why mayhems are so much better. Had they told us to go to rouge isles and destroy stuff there I bet people would have taken a liking to safe guard missions then.
  8. I think that alot of you are just not getting what EG is saying. The problem is that alot of the other ATs can easily do it not just scrappers. Doms should be able to solo alot better before pets. But for the most part that is not the case. We end up having endurance isses or it just flat out takes too long. I can struggle thru a mission on relentless but I choose not to keep doing this because the time and effort to do it at that setting is just too much. For me the buff did change my solo experience. There was enough uptime of the domination to make difference in how well I can take down mobs now. Mission no longer take forever and a day to do. Doing missions should never be like having teeth pulled. If they are like that then an AT becomes no fun.

  10. This buff does solve alot of the teaming issues, namely not being able to build domination on teams due to things getting you killed, people who constantly go afk. I just wish domination lasted at least twice as long. I still feel that teams will still undervalue doms till the PToD thing is addressed. If the Triangles are not going away then for the love of all that is evil in the game MAKE THE TRIANGLES VISIBLE 100% OF THE TIME!!!111!!eleventy-one!! That one change would go along way with doms and trollers to a lesser extent.
  11. I join a villain PUG. This was a low level team around level 10. The mission owner had their rep jacked to the max so everything was red or purple to most of us. So I made the suggestion that one of the corrupter should pull. So the fire/rad guy says ok he will pull. Guess what this guy uses to pull with? FIREBALL!!! I am like omg why would you pull with an aoe? The team ended up wiping. When we all got back from the hospital I pulled this time. Everything went well after that. I soon left after this mission was over. Anyone else care to share some crazy noob stories?
  12. If electric was out back then this thread would have gone very different. For me I pick electric for pure aoe killing. It works great for me. Mayhem missions with lightning rod is so uber.

    I do see one needed change to make it more melee centered. Inertial reduction should give at least the caster knockdown, knockback resistance. It is hard to take advantage of Fulcrum shift when you get knocked back before you even get your buffs.

    I would not recommend upgrading to the GVE goodies if you are inclined to think the Jump Jet Prestige power will be useful for a lowbie.. or in general.

    The power is designed to augment travel powers and give them a little more speed while adding vertical ability. I wish I'd known just how "little more" it would add beforehand.

    It's useless for lowbies (less than 14) unless you consider travelling at the speed of 3 slotted Hover for 30 seconds as useful.

    I'm less than impressed using at higher levels too. I had anticipated more umph and less "is this thing on?" when using it. Lesson learned.

    Dude this is the one thing that makes places like terra volta and grandville somewhat bareable now. Till then I was expecting to need to respec into fly. This will help super speeders get over the walls in perez park. I am not really concerned about it being a travel power, it is most to prevent me from every having to take 2 travel powers.
  15. Just so you guys know there are players out there that have extremely gimped builds, that would not survive the respec trial. Believe me on this I seen it first hand. Once I realized their builds I had to quit because there is no way we would survive that.

    Heals only help when it comes to sleeps, but it does nothing against disorients, immobilize, holds, terrorize, or -preception powers. You made a huge mistake respecting out of clearmind. If you can keep your team mez free they can kill stuff faster and not have problems which in turns helps them protect you better.
  18. Tankers and healers are 2 different things, after all the nerfs that have happened tankers dont have a place because they have to be babysat. All non-granite tankers will face this at some point if they fight against non-smashing lethal mobs. Due to those changes the tanker ends up taking up most if not all the heals just to keep him going. In his case the buffer would work better to get him back up to his original strength pre-issue 5. Now as far as situations where healing is neccessary, their will be mobs with insanely high accuracy(gunslingers, DE quarts, shadow shard mobs,hamidon), there will be mobs with defense debuffs(cot quicksand, croatoa mobs), mobs that lower resistance(council sonic guys, gold brickers). In those instances a heal is going to be your best choice. Technically the only thing that will Always be better than a heal is 2 things. These 2 things will work better than the other forms of damage mitigation as well. One is this crowd control. Held mobs dont fight back. Its only drawback is availability. Second is extreme damage, dead mobs really dont fight back. 2 blasters using inferno will mitigate more damage than any defender could because the threat is gone.

    Scourge never said Empathy/Thermal weren't good or useful sets. The rant was about the attitude that Empathy/Thermal is NECESSARY, or that you CAN'T SUCCEED without them, which is patently ridiculous, and has been proven wrong time and time again by many players' personal experience.

    But there are some case where you can't succeed without them. Honestly do you really think a trick arrow defender is going to be saving more people from the carnies, cot, arachnos, and devouring earth mobs than an empath or thermals will? Empathy/Thermals is the catch all net when it comes to these given situations, nothing short of getting 1 shotted is going to kill you with these powersets if that healer is doing their job.
  20. Your faq is good but it is lacking something. I know alot of you will not want to hear this but you do need to put in the faq the situations where having a healer is ok. Alot of the Empathy/Thermals hate I have been seeing is that alot of people will not give credit where credit is due when it comes to those powersets. There are just as many situations where those 2 powersets will out do the others. And there are a few situations where based on your team make up those debuffing powersets would actually slow your team down quite a bit.

    For example, this past weekend I joined a team with a rad corrupter, this team had 3 electric melee brutes. I had asked the corrupter to invite another corrupters that can buff or heal but he said no, that the group was fine with just his powers. I had to explain to him that electric melee's single target damage is very very anemic when it compares to the other brutes and having 3 of us would make it even more slow. He still did not want to add another corrupter. After about 2 missions this leader left and someone else got the star and invited another corrupter to replace this guy. It was like night and day. By having a thermal corrupter to heal and buff, I was able to herd up some enemies which allowed all 3 electric melee brutes to use alot of aoe smash. We went thru missions about 4 times as fast. Had we had just rad or dark there is no way we could have done as well on clearing speed. If we had both thermals and rad or dark it would have helped on clearing speed much more.

    Lastly I want to say this, you should be allowed to ask the powerset prior to the invite, especially if it is the last spot on a team. If I am going up against some mez heavy mobs a dark defender is not going to do us much good unless it is like fear or something. In these cases all the buffs/debuffs in the world is not going to save the team when everyone is perma held. So why waste your time and theirs by letting them on the team anyways? Sure their are sonic players with clarity but look how rare it is to see someone with that powerset. My post is not to take away from what the non-healing powersets can do but to help curve some of the empath/thermal hate that is out there where people dont give them the credit they deserve.
  21. I have noticed that those who use flash arrow before the tank runs in are almost always insta-killed by trolls throwing rocks in the hollows. That one thing is what keeps me from trying to level one up. That kind of death is scary.
  22. I know there are different ranks for mobs. AV/Hero>GM> Elite Boss> Boss>Lueitenent> Minion and Underlings but where do pets and henchmen fall under?

    If it is not too soon can you at least tell us how this will work. I know the concern would be to drop missions just to get the story arc bonus at the end but that could just be prorated based on the missions we actually finished. I hope that there wont be too many limitations on this. There are times when contacts give awful missions back to back like the dreaded hunt the cot mission in perez park followed up by a hunt in boomtown.

    Also I wanted to know will there ever be anything done for making contacts give out the phone number asap. I know this has been tweaked once before but honestly other than just being a huge waste of our time there is no reason for the contact not to give us the cell phone number after we initially talk to them. There are a few contacts that dont ever give the phone number out no matter how many missions you do for them. Lastly for the contacts that send us to contacts in other zones I think there should be a higher xp reward for talking to these folks, most of the time it is not worth our time to even do missions in those zones.

    A build up power on a 3 minute timer is not good enough for someone to have those penalties. I could see if it had psionic resists or defense but that is not even the case. If burn was how it use to be pre-issue 1 then I could see the knockback thing being the way it is but burn is flat out useless without the help of someone else as a form of offense. Brutes on the other hand not only get the shorter recharge but they get the aoe immoblize from the patron pools to hold multiple opponents so they still get the full benefit of burn plus it is buffed by fury. Fire tanks do not get this, and even if it did it does not justify that penalty for melee class fighters.
