Did they nerf cloaking device in I8 too?

My gadget cloaking device kinda sucks now. People I rescue no longer follow me while cloaked, I don't really have a major issue with that, that makes sense.

BUT, it seems like everyone can see me now! I will be flying along and everyone is shooting at me or otherwise attacking me. This wasn't happening before. Anyone else notice this with cloaking device

You need to be a bit more empirical with this post.

What's shooting at you? If it's snipers that's normally. They have extremely high perception. If it's normal mobs and you're a good distance away, then I'd bug it.

But the devs will need you to test it a bit more thoroughly.

Sorry, I should have elaborated. No, not snipers, just regular mobs. Snipers have always been able to get me. Now, as im flying along Nemesis or Malta or anyone standing around just starts opening fire on me. I haven't tested out various distances yet, but I didn't have this problem pre-I8

Pretty sure rescued hostages lose you when Cloaked. Can't really say as I stopped bothering with CD. I know they lose me when I'm running a Stalker. It might be the same with CD, but since it's not total invis, like Hide, it's hard to say. As far as non-snipers taking shots at you, are you stacking CD with Superspeed? Are you stacking it with Smoke Grenades? CD doesn't give you total invisiblity and needs to be stacked otherwise mobs will fire at you when you get too close.

That isn't to say that there wasn't a CD nerf. There've been nerfs to powersets (including to Devices' Trip Mines nerf of I3) that don't get announced in the patch notes.

There *shouldn't* be any negative changes to Cloaking Device. In fact, you should not be seeing any changes at all to the power.

There you go. Which brings us back to the questions of stacking. Are you stacking? Also, there are certain mob-types (in addition to snipers) that can see thru your cloak. Are you doing things you've always done against mobs you've been fighting before TheAedile?

I noticed today that all Malta minions have enough perception to see through cloak+SS. They can't see through cloak+SS+smoke grenade.

I haven't played high level heroes lately so I'm not sure if that's new.

Ah, maybe they could see thru a 2-stack of -Perp but not a 3-stack and CD was brought inline with other -Perp powers? Technically, this wouldn't be a "negative" change in that CD's not worse than Stealth, in regards to -Perp, but now at the same level as Stealth. Just a guess. Someone with more experiance with Stealth or CD or similar will have to check things out.

I noticed malta were seeing my /dev easier when I went and mucked around with safeguard missions a bit ago. I used to be able to run up into them and lay mines, and in the safeguard mission I might as well not have had any stealth power up at all for how easily they saw me. (Or perhaps not that bad, but it felt like it ya know.

Wait. Malta, minions or otherwise, have +preception? Since when? I've never noticed that they were noticing me more often and I usually only run around with Cloaking Device. I don't use Smoke Grenade unless I intend lay down mine field at close range.


Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Aah, I suppose hostages no longer following me around while I'm using Cloaking Device isn't considered negative then? Because prior to i8 I was running Warburg codes, and all I had to was "arrest" the group around the scientist. Then I could lead him to the destination while cloaked (No, I don't stack) - a piece of cake. Not any more.

I always assumed that CD would be brought into line with the other stealth powers (in tearms of escorting, anyway) eventually. But I was trying to get this one hostage in a Police Band Mish to follow me for 10 minutes. I was just about to petition a broken mish when I realized that it was my CD. Was definately surprized, as it was not in the notes.

As for the cloak being less effective; no idea, Ive ran a couple mish's against CoT and Council, and they both seemed to only detect me at the normal ranges so... dunno...

Working as intented. The Warburg scientists are different then hostages in missions, always has been that way.

Beats me. Like I said, I don't mess with CD anymore. Maybe Malta got a +Perception bump? Hate it for toe-bombers. Now, instead of CD+SS or SG, you need CD+SS+SG.

The only reason it really bothers me is malta are the main mob type in the highest range safeguard mission and they seem to really see through CD fairly well there, so every five feet I get hit with a web grenade.

In Safeguard missions the mobs may be working like ambushes.
If Cryptic could trigger and ambush to go after Jimmy Hoffa they'd find him in a minute.

Update: Doing a Malta mission, not a safe guard mission: SG + CD (unsuppressed) + Trip Mine = BOOM!. Walking up to a Malta = aggro about about 10-15 feet, which is the norm I encounter for CD and Stealth.

Okay then. Post-issue "there's a nerf behind that rock! And that one! And that one!" jumpiness? Or is this only going down during escort missions with different mob AI, "ambush" AI?

Different mob AI. Warburg scientists follow you when stealthed, escorts in missions don't. As for Safeguards, I didn't notice any ambushes, the villians seemed focused on their objects, meaning they don't go directly after heros.

The only powers i have active when I noticed was CD and fly. I was zipping through PI as I usually do. That's it for stacking.

A lot of people (myself included) felt that Safeguard enemies had an unusually high perception, although I don't think any hard data came of it. Sure seemed like the Council could spot me from a lot farther off than they should have. It might not be Cloaking Device so much as the enemies in there being able to see farther than they should.

Were they mobs that shoulted something like Longbow do in villian mayhems? That indicates its an ambush and they know where you are. Are the standard group standing around not doing any thing attacking you as you walk up to them? I haven't had the chance to do hero missions yet, but I assume every so often your going to get Resisted Arrest!....0:30 Seconds! type messages which do occur at random intervals I think. You don't have to kill anything, when I have reached certain distances with my stalker it would trigger the mission or it was a certain time persoid.

The original poster sounds like they're suffering from PIP or Post Issue Paranoia.

You always get those people that post, "Oh no! What happened to [Insert ability]. The devs nerfed it without putting it on the patch notes!" right after a new issue/patch comes out.
