Pretty sure you can't join a private channel without being invited.
Some channels are set so that new joins need to be unsilenced by an operator. I'd speculate that this was to cut down on RMT spammers, but I couldn't say for sure.
Scan the channel list for an operator and send them a tell asking to be unsilenced. -
I'm pretty sure you want to change that end redux in Practiced Brawler to a Recharge Redux... otherwise you have 19 seconds of no mez protection.
Also, the 4th Numina's in Physical Perfection is pretty much wasted, since the +heal doesn't help regen. You could pull a slot from there, and slot a couple of Blessing of the Zephyr in Super Speed, then change the Thunderstrikes over to Ruin + the Devastation quad. That would give you 45.1/45.8/45.5 (M/R/A). -
Unless it's changed recently, Ouroboros arcs and Flashbacks are not subject to diminishing returns.

Quote:OK. The basics of a bind are something like this:
<snip>
To figure out what people are talking about upthread: You can make a file that contains binds. It'll have a name like "Binds.txt" or "c:\Programs and Files\City of heroes\binds.txt" or "Myclevertrix.txt" or whatever. It will be full of lines like
bind g "say gratz!"
bind f "say I nearly autoran there! Good thing I had a bind."
bind h "powexecname inferno"
(I don't know if I got "h" exactly right. I'm a little out of my depth myself. If I set it up right it will trigger the power "Inferno", as we know and love it.)
Looks fine to me. Generally I would create a directory at the root (I use c:\cohbinds) for all my bind files, since there are times that spaces in the bind file path will really mess things up.
Quote:You can then, at your keyboard, type in "bind_load Myclevertrix.txt" and it will put all those binds in place at once. You can start a new character, type "Bind_load Myclevertrix.txt" and all the stuff you're used to will work.
Quote:
<snip>
1) You can bind a key to do more than one thing, as long as only one is a power.
It goes something like this:
bind g "say grats$$/em bow$$powexecname inferno" Which should, in some order I don't understand, say "Grats" AND do a bow AND trigger inferno. Explosive delight!
bind g "say grats$$em bow$$powexecname inferno"
I believe that power animations will interrupt and override emotes, so probably won't get the bow like you want.
Quote:2) A bind file can load another bind file. So "Myclevertrix.txt" can have a line in it like this:
bind_load Moreclevertrix.txt
This will load the bind file from the piggs directory of your CoH folder. For my normal folder, I use bindloadfile c:\cohbinds\Moreclevertrix.txt
Quote:
3) You can therefore create a text file that does something, then loads another text file to OVERWRITE THAT BEHAVIOR. Some people create "cycling taunts" this way:
tauntfile1.txt has a line in it that says
bind p "say yer mamma$$powexec taunt$$bindload tauntfile2.txt"
tauntfile2.txt has a line in it that says
bind p "say yer daddy,too$$powexec taunt$$bindload tauntfile2.txt"
Assuming those binds work- try 'em first, I'm pretty weak at this-
Code:p "say yer mamma$$powexecname taunt$$bindloadfile tauntfile2.txt"
Quote:<snip>
Likewise, you can have one key that alternates between (say) using Deflection Shield and Insulation Shield. If you're really cool you can have one key that uses Deflection Shield on character 1, then uses Insulation shield on character 1 and selects character 2, then uses Deflection Shield on character 2, then .... etc. It would take about sixteen bind files.
I think I got most of them. -
Perhaps try:
/bind G targetcustomnext teammate
/bind shift+G targetcustomprev teammate
/bind V powexecname <shield 1>
/bind B powexecname <sheild 2>
Hitting "G" will target the next teammate you can see, V and B cast your shields. This will only work for teammates within visual range, but that's usually good enough for me. Alternatively, you could create an up/down bind to cast both shields on one key, but I don't think there's that much benefit to it. -
Quote:Somehow I think you have the numbers backwards: Defender buffs should be higher than controller... although I skipped PFF on my defender so I'll admit I'm just guessing based on buff modifiers. Not that it matters a whole lot with the kind of defense numbers we're talking about here.Since we don't know what AT you are there are two base values for a PFF, 67.5% for Defenders and 75% for Controllers. You can double this with defense enhancements however the chance to be hit mechanics always gives your opponent a minimum 5% chance to hit you.

Sort of depends on what you consider a reasonable solo pace. As a tank, you have the freedom to herd large spawns of minions together to take advantage of the AoE output - and Ice Slick by itself is probably enough to allow you to recover from an alpha strike. Bosses and EB's are rather painful as Ice Melee has pretty lackluster ST damage, but it's more than enough to get the job done - it'll just be one you want to be paid by the hour.
I solo my Dark/Ice and WP/WM tank fairly regularly at +2/x8, and they're actually pretty close for solo speed; Ice's lack of single target damage against bosses is offset somewhat by the scarcity of mobs that resist cold damage. Being realistic, you'll do fine surviving solo, but the pace is not for everyone. You can certainly mow through minions and lieutenants pretty well, but bosses and other hard targets are going to take time. -
Just a few things I'd look at:
- The last 3 slots in QR are buying you a grand total of 0.1 eps. I think there are better uses for these slots.
- You have Jab 6-slotted with Crushing Impact. I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea, but if you're only going to 6-slot one attack, Jab is not the one I'd choose.
- I'm not a fan of 6-slotted Numina's Convalescence (Fast Healing). Partly it's a waste of enhancement bonus, but mostly I find it's a waste if you don't have significant ranged defense to stack with it. Consider changing 3 of these to Miracles (non-unique) to get some more hitpoints and recovery.
- 6-slotted Titanium Coating in Mind Over Body: see above. Consider using some of these slots to round out your attacks.
- 6-slotted Aegis in Strength of Will: see above.
- Rage really needs more recharge.
- You're attacks, other than Footstomp and Jab are woefully underslotted for accuracy. I'm not seeing any To Hit buffs, other than Rage, which is down for about a quarter of the time, so adding accuracy is a virtual must if you want to be fighting plus level enemies. There are many unwanted sets that can be franken-slotted to boost damage and accuracy as well as endurance usage. I'd probably consider Focused Smite and maybe 2 Pounding Slugfests (for the regen bonus).
- Rise to the Challenge is slightly overslotted for Healing. Consider changing one of those common Heals to a Numina's: End/Rech, which I believe is the cheapest of the set: you lose about 9% enhancement, and gain 35 hp.
- Heightened Senses is slightly overslotted. LotG: Def/End can usually be had for under 5m with a little patience... probably less, but I don't usually deal in level 50 IO's.
- If you're using Hover in combat, you really need some flight speed to give you mobility. Also, Fly is slightly overslotted: you can reach the fly speed cap with just 2 IO's.
Undoubtedly there will be many more suggestions posted, and probably a few builds, while I've been typing this, but hopefully you find this helpful. -
Quote:Add in the purple patch for +2's and you'd be around 4.75%. +3's would be under 4%.3.75% base tohit debuff for scrappers. 3 slots should put it near 6% debuff.

Quote:(Not sure about the pattern, though. I mean, he's dressed as Anti-Matter, not Posi, and last time I saw him A-M's texture was just the grey-to-blue Blend. Mind you, I haven't seen him in a while, maybe they've updated him like they did Posi?)
I think if they're going to be updating Praetorians, they'll start with Mother Mayhem. -

Note 4: You can also swap the secondary and tertiary trays: gototrayalt <#> and gototrayalt2 <#> should work for those.
Quote:There isn't a way to have the macro change the second tray is there? As is, it changes the first tray, but I don't change that one on any of my characters.
If I can get this to work the way I want, I would totally use this. It's pretty cool
/macro dwarf "powexectoggleon Black Dwarf$$gototrayalt 4" -
Most of the defeat Carnie missions are not zone-specific - actually, I can't think of any offhand that are. As such, if you can pick up a radio mission against Carnies, they'll spawn at your level range (or whatever you've chosen with 4XP), and any kills will still count towards the hunt mission.

Quote:
/macro Nova "powexectoggleon Dark Nova$$gototray 4"
/macro Dwarf "powexectoggleon Black Dwarf$$gototray 5"
/macro Human "powexectoggleoff Black Dwarf$$powexectoggleoff Dark Nova$$gototray 1$$powexectoggleon Gravity Shield"
Note 1: Change tray numbers to suit - these are the trays I use for my WS.
Note 2: Do not copy and paste from here. Windows tends to change quotations to smartquotes which are not recognized in game. The quotes in this case are necessary to tell the game to execute more than just the first command.
Note 3: Obviously change Black Dwarf to White Dwarf, and Dark Nova to Bright Nova if you're a Peacebringer.
Note 4: You can also swap the secondary and tertiary trays: gototrayalt <#> and gototrayalt2 <#> should work for those.
Note 5: You can drop the powexectoggleon part for the human macro if you don't use the shields. I can't see a reason not to use them, so switching on my Smash/Lethal shield when out of other forms is helpful.
--------------------------------------
Bonus: /macro costume "cce 1 <ccemote>$$s <witty saying here>" -
This sounds a little like an issue I used to have running ZoneAlarm. Basically, I set the permission for CoH, but everytime it updated, ZA would ask to authorize it again. Unfortunately, the popup window for ZA would come up behind the CoH screen, and would not be accessible.
If I recall correctly, my short term solution was to open any other application before launching CoH (generally Firefox since I like to play with paragonwiki open), so I could alt-tab and get to the popup. -
You've got a real grab-bag of defense, some ranged, some smash/lethal, some melee, etc... I usually prefer to focus on either positional or a couple of types like smash/letha and energy. Mid level defense in all categories isn't worth as much to me as high smash/lethal/energy, or high positional. Since WP has a bit of typed defense to begin with, I like typed defense, especially smash/lethal, and push that as high as I can, while throwing in some energy as well.
You might consider changing the common IO's in RttC and Health to Numina's Heal/End, Heal/Rech and Heal... you'll lose a little bit of enhancement value, but pick up 24% regen from the sets, and about 50 hp. Same with the common Heal in Fast Healing - replacing that with a Miracle Heal/End will lose a bit of regen, but gain some hp, which should work out at just about a wash, but will give you a bit better ability to soak an alpha. -
That setting affects all mouse scroll options, I believe, including camera zoom.
-
I see you saying "no set IO bonuses" - does that mean no set IO's period? Because IMO, if you slot 3 to hit debuffs without franken-slotting set IO's, you're giving up a rather substantial amount of damage. There's quite a few recipes nobody wants that can be used in ranged attacks (like Ruin, for example), which often can be bought for less than common IO's.
Even with sets, 3-slotted to hit debuffs are going to leave you rather far behind on one of damage, endurance, recharge, or accuracy slotting.
Dark blasts for defenders debuff 9.38%, so 2-slotted, you should see something like 13.5% debuff, vs 14.7% for 3-slotted blasts. A single slot would get you about 11.4% debuff.
Bear in mind that these numbers would be affected by the purple patch, so plus level enemies will feel them less. However, I think 3-slotting blasts is a bit much - I'd probably go with a single to hit debuff; 2 at the absolute most. As always, YMMV, and IMO and such, but even with defender modifiers, I really think I'd want more than just 3 slots for accuracy, damage, recharge and endurance. -
Can you get to the Server Select screen, or does it hang on the login screen? Is there an error message of any sort, or does it crash/hang?
Hanging at the login screen is probably a firewall issue.
Crashing on the server select screen might be a number of things, but I think the first step is to delete the checksum file and run the updater again.
Anyway, good luck. -
I'd second the wiki - specifically Stores. As you can see, the Tech store is Mark IV in Founders Falls, who will require you to run a short mission. Mark IV will sell enhancements up to level 40, and can be accessed at level 30. If you have access though, the Midnighter's Club, Cimerora and the RWZ all have stores that will sell you enhancements of any origin, from level 35 up.
You can of course choose to fight enemies that drop enhancements of your origin, but it's far easier to just sell your drops and buy from the stores. I don't recall offhand who drops Tech enhancements between 30 and 40, but I suspect Council and Freakshow are your best bets.
Good luck. -
Quote:My current setup: /bind <key1> beginchat /bind tilde targetcustomnext enemy aliveExcellent. i still prefer to use macros because otherwise you have to retype the bind every time you need to find a new enemy type. Also, my macros get pretty large after a while since at the higher levels i have a lot of secondary targets i set and forget beyond the target of the moment. Things like sorcerors, sappers, surgeons, cysts, quantums, voids, meat doctors and the like. i may be searching for "bomb", but i like to know if there's a sapper or the like around as well.
This uses <key1> to open a chat line with the beginnings of the bind to the tilde key for whatever enemy I want to look for. I can edit on the fly pretty quickly, and since the tilde key is right next to my tab key, it's not that hard to look for specifics first, then switch to general targeting. -
Quote:Pretty sure that Sprint does not take Universal Travel sets, but it does take Running and Jumping sets.1) The +Stealth IOs are not in the Universal Travel sets (Winter's Gift and Blessing of the Zephyr), but rather in individual travel sets (Celerity, Time & Space Manipulation, Unbounded Leap, and Freebird)
2) Sprint does accept Universal Travel sets.
Swift and Hurdle do not accept any sets.
The +Stealth IO's should work at any level that the power is available, regardless of the level of the IO. Unsure why it's not working for you, as it does work for me. -
Quote:Just fyi, the minimum recharge for any power is
base recharge divided by 5.
so at MAX recharge(400% recharge bonus)
neutrino bolt would recharge in 1.5/5 = 0.3 secondsQuote:you forgot the 100% base recharge (enhanched in the power) so its 1.5/6 = 0.25 seconds
No, he's correctly noted that the maximum +rech you can get is 400%, so added to the base recharge 100%, you get a total of 500% recharge. -
In my experience, FBZ is better for Fake Nems than PI.
At Point Tango, there are about 10 spawn points for Fake Nems, which often spawn 2 in the same group. I can't recall the exact frequency, since it will also depend on how fast you kill them, but one additional benefit is not having to worry about other people stealing your Fakes, since no one ever goes to the Shard. -
Based on the error message, it's probably not anything inside the file, but the name or the path of the file that's causing the problem.
Double check the name of the file and the name of the directory that you've created for your keybinds. Wild stab in the dark: you are using the "C:" drive, and not some secondary real or virtual drive "D:" or some such?
That's all I got. -
Just to be clear, the above macro will change you to costume 3, since costumes are identified from 0 (original) to 4.
If you are currently in your third costume, the macro will have no effect.
Also, I prefer the SunGryphon's macro, since having weapons drawn, or being in a combat stance will cause the costume emote to fail.
