It's really not that bad, actually, unless you're standing at the market and waiting for things to buy and sell.

If I'm planning on going after the level 45 - 50 badges (which gets you the +1 recipe space), I'll usually place bids for the level 45 recipes I need (low ball bids and let them run for a few days). The 50s I can usually get from drops. Additionally, I don't go for all the badges. I just go for what I call the Big 6:

    Accuracy/To Hit Buff
    Damage/Knockback
    END Reduction/END Modification
    Recharge
    Defense Buff/Resist Damage
    Heal

The other Common IO types just don't sell enough and are usually facing a flooded market thanks to people trying to get all the badges.

If you look at Accuracy, Damage, END Reduction, END Modification, Recharge, Defense, Resist Damage and Heal -- you will be able to use all 12 common salvage types.

What I'll usually do is take a few minutes updating a character, and then either start running some missions with that character or switch to another character (letting things cycle over night). When you multiply this across 10 level 50s, INF can roll in quickly.

Also, I do craft and sell any decent recipes I find. I haven't started bringing in INF through A Merit farming as of yet (I just get burnt out on those missions), but if I decide that I need more purples I'll start running these across my various characters more frequently.

    .
It might be one of those episodes I need to see again, and I will. Again, I didn't say it was a bad episode, and maybe it was because it followed "Everybody Comes to Hank's" (which was freaking brilliant). I always seem to catch little details that make me appreciate episodes that I previously dismissed. Example: someone over at fark.com posted a screen cap of Mr. Polygamy, and I hadn't noticed that he has four arms (and four wives).

And, I loved the ending of "Bright Lights, Dean City," with Dr. Venture being kicked out of an alternate universe by himself.

    My favorite episodes, for comparison:

    Viva Los Muertos
    20 To Midnight
Ghosts of the Sargasso (first episode I ever saw...totally had that Scooby Doo vibe and I was instantly hooked)
    Everybody Comes to Hank's
Handsome Ransom (Kevin Conroy for the win!)
What Goes Up Must Come Down
  4. And here I was thinking the bad news was that they were actually going to make a live action Akira movie, which is a mistake.

I'm not a huge fan of the original, but I do understand its appeal to its fanbase. This is not something that will translate well to a live action film. It just won't.

Of course, casting an emo, causcasion prettyboy as Tetsuo would be a colossal failure.

    Go Team Venture!

    Maybe.

He said they have something of an 11-minute teaser that they've already been working on.

Yeah, it's unfortunate it takes them so long to produce new episodes, but I'll take that as a trade off considering the quality of TV they produce. Even their "worst" episodes have truly amusing and redeeming moments to them. After all, "Bright Lights, Dean City" gave us Nathan Fillion as Brown Widow, and characters like "Bear With Knife Super Powers" and Brick Frog (which cracks me up every time I see that clip).

Of course, that got thrown utterly out the window when Cole stopped being "questionable" and "Machiavellian" and was established as utterly and completely evil, and the main antagonist of two universes. His motivations originally were "create a utopia for the good of all, at the cost of some of their freedoms" which, while twisted, is something we actually see to a lesser extent in real life, and it's a good debate point. Is it right to sacrifice some rights (like in the Patriot Act and the privacy debate about the TSA) to protect our lives?

But now his motivations are "slaughter own citizens, kill everyone with powers in Primal Earth, rule all universes." All debate is gone, and he just ceased to be an interesting antagonist.
OR...it could be that at level 1 as a citizen of Praetoria, you've been spoonfed Cole's lies your entire life. When you begin your career as a hero or villain, you begin to uncover the truth.

It's like this: at this point, everybody in the game knows The Lost are just Rikti mutates that haven't gone full Rikti (you never go Full Rikti!). When the game was new, however, YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT. You discovered it as you worked through the lore and the story arcs.

The problem here is we already know Cole's a bad guy from the interaction with him on the hero side before Going Rogue ever came out, so playing through the content from a Praetorian perspective lost this bit of suspense in the storytelling. It's a problem with a game that's been out for 7 years.

This has been my experience. Knock your difficulty down to the basics, but make sure you're still fighting against level 50s so you still have that odd chance you can get a purple recipe to drop.

    Quote:
I was wondering what everyone else's experience has been with tip/morality missions. I know, I have not been able to run them at an average rate of 5 minutes. I have also seen people go 6 missions without getting a morality mission to drop.
The morality mission won't drop until you've filled your meter. Occasionally I've had it drop off the last MOB in a tip mission, but it's pretty easy to go to Talos and start hammering away on MOBs there to get the tip.

    Quote:
The other way to look at A-Merits would be someone buying them 1 a day at: 20 Million fin and 50 R-merits a day. After two days they have spent 100 R-merits (1/2 of what a lotg would cost with R-merits) and have only spent 40 million inf. That actually would seem to be not too bad of a deal, 40million to cut the required R-merits in half.
I find this inefficient, but others may think differently. 40 million INF + 100 R-Merits gets you an LotG. Or 200 R-Merits and 0 INF can get you a LotG. If you easily get 100 R-Merits, why not save to the 200 mark? (I'd suggest using them for rolls, but most of the recipe and craft IO prices for the roll rewards have crashed big time.)

    Quote:
So, I'm a little torn, I still think 'farming' A-merits for unique recipes may not be that effective but buying them maybe. What do you all think?
It depends on how patient you are and how quickly you get burned out on the tip missions. Keep in mind that if you're spending most of your time farming A-Merits, chances are you're not bringing in a ton of R-Merits.

I had never really used the LotGs before, but now with the inherent Fitness sets I've found a lot more room in my builds for them. Over the course of about a month I managed to get all of my level 50s updated by running tip missions. (I still need a couple of LotGs here and there since I just did a couple of respecs over the weekend and found more space for these.)
  9. Defenestrator

    Purple

This is not my only method, but I've actually made a TON of INF just by crafting common IOs. The key is first learning the recipes (which will cost) and learning which recipes more frequently sell (Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, END Reduction, END Modification, Defense, Damage Resist and Heal). Instead of selling that common high level salvage for 250 at a store (or for less than that on the market -- if you can sell it at all), craft the common IOs and put them up there at a price that will guarantee a profit (remember, it's your cost x 1.1111).

These are not big profits that you will get at once, but something that you will have over time. Though, thanks to a typo I cleared about 500 million on the last double XP weekend by selling these things (the prices shot through the roof while the costs to make them stayed stagnant).

Keep in mind, I also use the methods listed above to gain INF. This is just an extra thing that I do on top of my other methods. Seriously, once you have the recipes memorized it takes about two minutes to assemble and dump the IOs on the market.

Also, I'm certainly not one of the richest characters in game (not even close), but in the past month I've assembled an Armageddon set and two Ragnarok sets, and still have plenty of funds available for whatever else might come up.

Also...despite what Masque said, I will actually sell purples I know I won't use. But also keep in mind I don't go full purple, instead putting them in strategic powers I think could benefit from the boost (blaster nukes, for example).

PvPers. People looking to have IOed builds if they frequently do lower level content.

In fact, because so many people are running on their 50s, those sorts of things are actually in demand because the supply is so low.
  11. Dragging the Rikti into the clutches of Hamidon during the Lady Grey TF is always fun.
  12. I need to add:

Y: The Last Man -- would make a great TV series. If they can come up with the budget to make The Walking Dead, there shouldn't be too much trouble making this. It would definitely have to be on a more Adult-Friendly TV Network (like FX or AMC or HBO), but it would be awesome. (Just started reading it, so I'm not too far into it, but WOW.)

    Fairly simple, I think?
Takes more effort and longer to code than simply slapping an "EU" onto an account name. I'm sure they looked at the easiest way to approach what on the surface seems to be an easy problem but probably isn't.

Maybe the people complaining would be happier if they didn't combine the servers at all?

Seriously. If NCSoft offered every player a $100 dollar bill, there'd be people complaining that it wasn't in smaller denominations.

Spend some time on some level 50 teams. Get lucky and get two of the "good" purple recipes.

    BAM.

    1 billion INF.

    Its a minor worry though.
I've been here since the game was in beta. I can literally count on one finger the number of times I've been booted from a team because I wasn't the "proper build."

A team booted my dark defender because I "wasn't a healer."

    Yep. You read that right.

The stories of things like this happening in this community are few and far between. They always have been, and I can't see them starting up now.

I'll take a good player with a "bad" build any day over a terrible player with a Flavor of the Month.

Not pressured and not frustrated with it.

I've been leveling up some low level characters. I've been rediscovering the awesomeness of some of my level 50s.

The playerbase has been wanted some form of end game content essentially since the game launched. We got bits here and there (Lady Grey TF, Statesman TF, Lord Recluse SF, etc.) but it's hardly enough.

Now that we actually have and end game, it should surprise nobody that people are actually playing it, especially since it's the new shiny thing in the game.

    So far I'm loving it.
  19. Preacher -- yep...I'd finally get this one off the ground. Would have to be a TV series and would have to be on a network like Showtime or HBO to get around the content. If you toned it down a bit, you could probably get it onto FX, but where would the fun be in that?

Planetary -- would love to see this as a TV series. Set it up to run for only a couple of seasons and get the whole story to play out. There are also enough pop culture tropes that Warren Ellis didn't touch during this series that a clever writing staff could probably extend the life of the series even further than that.

Major Bummer -- loved this series for the little bit that it ran. It would make a good teen slacker movie.

Hitman -- the Garth Ennis version, of course. Rework the origin a bit to get rid of the goofy Bloodlines stuff, and you could end up with a pretty fun movie.

Quantum & Woody -- a well-made non-buddy buddy show would work. The only problem would be the need of a trained goat to play H.A.E.D.U.S.

Poison Elves -- "Desert of the Third Sin" would make a great movie.

The recent "True Grit" was also an adaptation of the novel, and not an adaptation of a previous movie. There is a difference between those two things.

Additionallly, the new version is indeed brilliant.

Actually, they should have aimed to make it more like Raiders of the Lost Ark.

    1) Jolie was a perfect fit for the role. She had the look and the physical ability to do the stunts. And she can actually act.

    2) National Treasure sucked. So did its sequel. It was a dumbed down version of "The Da Vinci Code," which was already pretty stupid to begin with.

They spent all that money on special effects and big sets and stunts for the Tomb Raider movies, and forgot to come up with a competent script. Sad, really.
  22. They better not mess with my Crunch Berries!
  23. This is actually a very comic book inspired idea. Look at the heavy hitters of the Marvel Universe -- Thor, Hulk, etc. Then read "Infinity Gauntlet."

Or look at the heavy hitters of the DC Universe -- Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. Then read something like "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

Teaming up with 20 - 50 heroes (and villains on occasion) happens in comics for their big event stories all the time. If that's the type of thing COH is headed towards, I'm all for it.

Give me giant robots. Give me a madman with truly godlike powers. Give me something like Galactus to fight.

    This is excellent advice.

Purples are by no means necessary and are mainly a luxury item.

But when you find something to put them in, awesomeness can ensue. (Just got a Ragnarok set for Thunderous Blast on my electric blaster...whoa!)
