Maybe.

He said they have something of an 11-minute teaser that they've already been working on.

Yeah, it's unfortunate it takes them so long to produce new episodes, but I'll take that as a trade off considering the quality of TV they produce. Even their "worst" episodes have truly amusing and redeeming moments to them. After all, "Bright Lights, Dean City" gave us Nathan Fillion as Brown Widow, and characters like "Bear With Knife Super Powers" and Brick Frog (which cracks me up every time I see that clip).

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

What takes so long to make them, is iirc, they use traditional animation techniques rather than computer animated. If they could get the CG to look like the hand-animated, I think they should go for it. I mean, this isn't 1990 anymore and the long wait times between new season for, let's be honest, obsolete forms of animation, makes for unhappiness.

If they are sticking with hand-drawn, then I wouldn't bet on new eps before summer 2012. (Teaser and the one-off notwithstanding.)

The Venture Brothers' pilot, The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay, was animated in Flash, with all the quality you'd expect. That experience probably turned them off computer-generated animation. Besides, cell-shaded CGI wouldn't recall the Johnny Quest-style animation from the 60s that grounds the show.

That episode is also 8+ years old. CG has come a ways since then. Besides, they aren't exactly a "new" show trying to get their foot in the door and having to scrape by (IMO).

This. I'll take quality over quantity every day of the week.

I share your opinion that even the lesser episodes have a lot going for them, but you consider 'Bright Lights' to be one of them? IMO it's one of the best ones of last season.

However, everyone but me seems to love 'Tag Sale – You're It!' and 'Twenty Years to Midnight', although I value them both for character development.

They do use CG sometimes. Like when the jet is taking off or Hatred's Hover Tank.

It might be one of those episodes I need to see again, and I will. Again, I didn't say it was a bad episode, and maybe it was because it followed "Everybody Comes to Hank's" (which was freaking brilliant). I always seem to catch little details that make me appreciate episodes that I previously dismissed. Example: someone over at fark.com posted a screen cap of Mr. Polygamy, and I hadn't noticed that he has four arms (and four wives).

And, I loved the ending of "Bright Lights, Dean City," with Dr. Venture being kicked out of an alternate universe by himself.

My favorite episodes, for comparison:

Viva Los Muertos
20 To Midnight
Ghosts of the Sargasso (first episode I ever saw...totally had that Scooby Doo vibe and I was instantly hooked)
Everybody Comes to Hank's
Handsome Ransom (Kevin Conroy for the win!)
What Goes Up Must Come Down

I have just one thing to ask:

Is anyone up for a Rusty Venture?

That might have been the best conversation that ever happened in the show.

Hell, it even included a reference to the USS Indianapolis!

Oh, it was a great series of conversations (although Brock's answer was a little on the mundane side). Still, I wouldn't want a Rusty Venture in any of its permutations. Ever.

I need to pick up the second half of season four. Although I'm not sure if the Rusty Venture question will be as funny if it's uncensored.

You're right, it probably wouldn't be even half as funny uncensored. (also why I keep my language filter ON in-game.) I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time, my favorite Venture Bros. scene ever.

And Brock's answer being mundane seemed like an ironic twist (since he easily gets the most action in the show - at least I hope that's how it is...)

The vol. 2 commentary sheds some light on the episodes. Everyone Comes To Hank's and Bright Lights, Dean City were originally one episode, but Jackson got overtaxed and Doc wrote a lot of for the Hank part, so they split it. Assisted Suicide plot was first conceived in the season opener, so when Brock and the boys go into Rusty's body, Orpheus would go into his mind.

Also, the "Leviathan" was going to appear in the episode, but cut due to time restraints. Doc said in the commentary that it would have been Rusty as a baby. A normal size baby that was making the thunderous footsteps.

GO TEAM VENTURE for two more seasons. This makes up for losing GI JOE RENEGADES. Series 4 took a big risk this past year and it paid off big time. I like volume 1 and 2 of series 4. Character development was great and unexpected. Especially with Henchman 21. Great evolution of the character. I don't care how long it takes to make, as someone said Ill take quality over quanity anyday.

I wonder if we'll ever learn if Moppett Kevin actually does have secret door-opening powers.
