2.16.2012 - Management Edit: I would encourage anyone reading this thread for the first time to please spend some time reviewing the final version of the super packs. They are considerably different from what was reacted to when this thread was initially posted.
Thanks!

To recap for those who aren't aware: Coming up in Issue 22 (? that was the impression I got) in the Paragon Market, CCG-style Super Packs, containing 5 random items. Mostly consumables, there will also be a chance to get some stuff limited to Super Packs, like pieces of a new costume set, as well as the Archetype IOs we've seen some stuff about. These packs are said to be on the inexpensive side, but no approximate price point was given (considering how ludicrously expensive the Wolf and German Shepherd pets are, one does have to wonder how they're defining "inexpensive").
How may I put this?

It would be one thing if the costume pieces you could get were ones already available in the store. Say, the Barbarian Belt, or CoT gloves. Same with the Archetype IOs. But to limit them to a random roll is a godawful idea. Please don't let this go live. -
Really disappointed at the decision to lock a costume set behind a purchasable random roll. The only solace I take is that they'll probably reverse the decision after all the negative feedback they get.

I heard free players will have a constant debuff applied to them until they pay for something, confirm/deny?

I just wish they'd use loading screens that aren't loaded with compression artifacts. Seriously, they're just ugly. They had a chance to trade up to higher quality a few issues back when they revamped the zone loading screens and they blew it.

If it's your first time doing a trial you should announce that ahead of time so that the leader knows there's someone who doesn't know how it goes. By this point Lambda is so old-hat that leaders assume that everyone knows what they're doing. Same goes with the Mothership Raid, as well as any other TF/trial/raid content in the game.

Same here. Mapserved during a Keyes badge run (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), although thankfully I got back on before it finished. (Unfortunately, we must have screwed something up, since nobody got either of the badges we were trying for.)
I did a little research and apparently the issues are related to a bad firmware update on the 7th combined with a response to the original problem which only made things worse. I've never been enthused about Time Warner but I'm especially not happy now, I went looking to see if I could get Verizon internet in my area, but their availability page wasn't finding my address and I'm pretty sure when I first moved in I found that it wasn't available anyway. Aren't monopolies great? -
But god forbid they keep Community on.

Nothing.

Quote:Upon a second viewing it turned out to be the Fury bar.I'm betting that it was the Theft of Essence proc that triggered a few times when I hit Dark Regen, but the build also has three separate Performance Shifter procs which could technically trigger at the same time.
If you could point me to the timestamp you're talking about, I'll probably be able to say for sure. Was wondering how your endurance got to be so low before the fight even started, Dark Armor isn't that bad of an endurance hog.
I'm guessing you went with Energy Mastery then. That's probably part of my issue, since I went with Soul Mastery for concept (and no, I haven't even dared to try running Darkest Night). Sigh, maybe I can grind him to 50 one of these days and get Cardiac Alpha unlocked... -
Quote:Or maybe I meant it as a joke that you shouldn't think too hard about.I'm not sure you can Ragequit an MMO that has vanished so abruptly... Since there is nothing left to quit...
Or did you mean the MMO itself ragequit?
Or Maybe it was the server maintenance tech that made this his 2 weeks notice, as a rage quit?
Should have given that guy a holiday bonus last year.... -
Quote:This entire post should be a sticky unto itself. This cannot be stated enough. The pros also won't do it right away, that would be way too obvious. They'll wait a while after the purchase, hoping you won't notice the additional charges on your bill, or even hoping that you'll make more purchases from them. As soon as the money stops flowing, though, they have exactly zero incentive to not use what you've given them to empty out everything you have.
The worst part about it is that the billing is coming from NCsoft, which masks the RMTer behind a reputable company. RMTer gets more money and accounts to ply their irreputable trade, legitimate customer gets ripped off, NCsoft's reputation gets a black eye. It's win-lose-lose, and yet there are people out there who 1) continue to subsidize this trade, thinking, "What does it hurt anyone?", and 2) think that because their card hasn't been dinged after a month or two, they've hit upon the one "honest" RMTer out there among the pile of bovine fecal matter.
Power leveling services are even worse, because that typically involves actually giving someone your account information, which is Darwin Award stupid. Then the RMTers don't even have to bother with stealing credit card numbers, they can just outright get your account banned. Oh, and don't think for a second that your username and password isn't tried on sites like Bank of America, Amazon.com, Gmail, etc. to try to get even more stuff from you, or that your credit card number, once you've figured out you're being scammed, isn't sold on the black market to people like, say, the Russian Mafia.
Like I said, this cannot be overstated. RMTers are NOT just harmless irritations that flaunt the EULA and ToS. They're thieves; professional criminals who WILL screw you over in ways that you probably haven't even thought about, and not just related to the game. Part of me relishes in the thought of your bank accounts being cleaned out and your identity stolen, but the only bitter pill to swallow is that the funds are used to round up even more people as naive as you.
So please, people, as you encounter these RMTers, report them with extreme prejudice. You're not just stopping them from pestering players, you're helping NCsoft cut off the income of organized criminals. -
I keep wanting to believe it. I really do. My Dark/Dark Brute is level 44, created him shortly after CoV went live, and he's had quite a bit of downtime obviously.
I've tried OG, I've tried CoF, I've tried recharge set bonuses, recovery set bonuses, defense set bonuses. He has his moments occasionally, but otherwise he's just kind of crummy when compared to some of my other meleers.
Maybe the playstyle is just too active for me to get a handle on.
Also, holy crap what kind of stupid crazy recovery do you have that your blue bar went from nearly empty to nearly full in a matter of seconds? It didn't look like you used any inspirations. -
Quote:So you're saying the animation isn't that matters, it's the visual effects that define it.You can only attack the ground so many ways. You can stomp it or punch it, and only in a handful of ways. Double fist, single fist, single stomp, hop-and-stomp, none of this really matters, as neither is "better" than the other. What would define a "super ground punch" would be the visual effects, the sound and the camera shale, as well as the power stats, obviously. That's why Reichsman's Foot Stomp is so much better than what we get in Super Strength and why Romulus' Nictus Stomp, while not as good, is still better than ours.

Quote:Stop. Stop right there. This flabbergasted me, as well. We already have all the animations in the game
I don't just want a more powerful version of (alternate animation) Foot Stomp. That would be the cheap way out. Incarnate powers deserve unique effects. Instead, how about a classic Hulk two-fisted ground slam?
Now, the real question is: PBAoE, targeted AoE, or a new hybrid type where the area of effect is a targeted AoE as well as anything that happens to be between you and the targeted area? -
No, but you have to be at least level 35 in order to join Vanguard and get Vanguard Merits from the raid.

Well first of all, there's no such thing as "slashing damage" in the game, but I'm assuming you mean Lethal. Anyway, the attack is essentially a Nightcrawler-like teleport attack (your character "bamfs" away, shadow images of your character appear next to all enemies in range and leaping roundhouse kick them, vanish, then your character reappears where they originally vanished from). So definitely smashing.

Quote:I've never really read the comics, but on Batman: TAS he seemed to receive any medical treatment almost exclusively from Dr. Leslie Thompkins, an old friend of his parents.Ironically, Batman would need something akin to a mob doctor, with his own private medical facilities, to help mask his numerous injuries from the public. Still, if Bruce Wayne were to be injured while traveling, for example, a doctor who wasn't under his thumb might find some very interesting things which would be detrimental if released to the public, lest some sort of compensation or persuasion were in order.
As far as a doctor blackmailing Bruce Wayne when they find out that he's Batman? You don't blackmail Batman.
