non-combat and combat petsexclusive now?
can a mod move this to general please? posted in the wrong forum
Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.
The devs said that having both out was server-intensive.

well i can see why they made vanity pets mutually exclusive since they do plan on adding a lot more, and if they werent exclusive poeple could be running around with half a dozen or more vanity pets and when multiplied across 10,000+ players that gets server intensive lol
now i dont fully agree having the combat pet as a toggle since it has functionality
Frankly I'm starting to think that "server intensive" is just the go-to cop-out answer for things as much as they've been using it lately. Either that or they've been downgraded to hand-me-down 386s to run the game servers.
Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
In order for them to follow you, including navigating terrain, they require an AI. And City's AIs are historically not exactly sophisticated and optimized.
Think twice before you make such silly, uninformed comments in the future, lol.

I just want to point out how silly a statement like that is. If they had no AI, you would summon them and they would be a statue that did not move and did not go anywhere.

He might want to state those types of comments in the form of a question.
I'd like combat buff pets and non combat buff pets on different toggles.
I'm hoping to see more of both released, and can see the 'only one at a time' a good comprise for not having lots of pets buffing you (paying to win easily) and allowing a purchase to be account wide instead of per character.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

As it stands right now with the toggles going down (unspawning the pet-) during the shift and then being completely greyed-out afterwards, they can't. No buff pet, no vanity pets... and that sucks.

Even if we accept this argument as the "real and truthful" reason for why the Devs made this change I still think the Devs could easily limit us to one vanity and one combat pet at the same time and still satisfy the intent of "reducing server load" without overly restricting our freedom in this area.

i dont know why they lumped the combat pet in there since they have functionality
for vanity pets i think they are mostly considering the future, cause right now we can have up to 3 vanity pets + the buff pet, on the list of the pets affected there are 2 on the list that we dont even have yet, imagine a year from now if they did not implement the mutual exclusivity and everyone was running around with 10 vanity pets + buff pet, with 2-3 of them i dont think its a big deal but with 10+ per person that gets much worse with fewer poeple
agreed

I tried to summon both my shield oscilater and clockwork pet, and one cancels out the other now? Why change that? We have always been able to summon both before.
