I'm using /netgraph 1
I get the duplicate in, retransmitted, and lost in are packets
I certainly know what ping is
What is SEND and RECV? Over what time interval? -
we are both vip accts
this bug has actually been going on for some time, so it was before all this freedom stuff
neither of us are hidden from anything
additionally everyone else can see and contact him without a problem... it's only me that sees him as hidden -
I have a friend who I can't IM without getting the message ' is offline or hidden, but will receive your message when they login. '
They aren't hidden.
We've both tried hiding, unhiding, friending, defriending, I still can't im them without this message. What is wrong here? -
Time if anything seems underpowered on a power by power comparison
The fact that it dips in many various power sets lightly is a fun combination
Also, OP ...
Don't beg for nerfs
This isn't 2006 anymore -
I'm going to go with mind control/force field troller.
You don't do anything for damage. No pets even. The best part is even if you can do a little insignificant amount of damage, it breaks your controls and probably does knockback, bouncing mobs all over, possibly getting you more aggro than you can cope with.
On a team though, you bring a massive amount of control plus casting enough defense to give everyone a pretty much always on barrier. Can't heal really but who needs healing if they don't get hit? -
Hi all
I have a question about Seers.
See T3 Total Radial Improved Ally?
Two seers, 5 minutes, lame damage but the other one is invulnerable with a nice fort buff
Now I move up to T4 Seers Radial Superior Ally
Two seers, but the lame damage component is only 3 min 20 sec... the other is still invuln with a nice fort buff
Why would I ever go to T4? I mean aside from blowing away a VR, isn't this just kind of a sidegrade? Even if the T4 damage dealer is more powerful, the short duration just kind of takes it back down to the T3. Shouldn't an upgrade be like... an upgrade?
Bonus points: Show me the math! -
I really hate selfish posts like this
Okay, just jumping into the conversation here and really responding to the original post but, this sort of complaint is absolutely worthless.
If the devs are reading something like this sort of stuff, they must be scratching their heads. First they want the game easier. Now they want the game harder. Now they want it easier again. Now harder. Really, do these people have nothing more to do than complain?
While yes, it's quite possible with mids, a lot of money, and some careful thought to make a 'tankmage', it's not something most people are capable of. I know it's hard to believe, I mean look at who I'm stating this to, your average forum goer is quite able to opening a web browser and I'm sure able to read info about their class, studying what is the best way to build their toon. Many people just don't have the time, don't care enough to, don't want to for some reason.
While I would say most of my characters are min maxed, I play with friends every day who are just outright terrible at this game. We used to all get together on Sunday for 'noob night'.
And some of us still remember back in the old ancient days of CoH when everyone was pretty tankish, there was no ED, there was no penalty for fighting way in over your level, resistances were higher and stronger, etc etc. I can remember how over time all that got nerfed down until the whole game was at a pitiful level. Most of my toons could barely handle an even con spawn. So yeah, the devs have rescinded a lot of that and allowed us to build our toons up to very powerful levels. Levels where you FEEL LIKE A SUPERHERO.
Let's look at the current trials too:
BAF is pretty noob friendly
LAM is a little tougher, you have to know what you're doing
Keyes takes some definite teamwork and specific classes for certain tasks
To me it sounds like the devs ARE listening to those who want a tougher game and yet at the same time they're listening to Joe Shmoe who can't figure out which alpha slot to even take, or how this whole crazy incarnate system works. Mids? too much hassle, Joe just slots whatever he feels is good and can't afford anything better than common io's...
Before you post about how easy the game is, take a look at the big picture. I know you see the same confused noobs on Help that I do, who don't have a CLUE. Maybe instead of demanding a harder game you should take the time to deal with a frustration of helping them out. I'm telling you, that's the most hardcore part of this game. -
I could've been playing all day and then the moment I finally log on the servers go kablooie
FAIL -
Is there any way, possibly through GM petition, to undo combining items into a incarnate enhancement I just made with a misclick?
-
rather than boxing, tough, weave have you considered the other leadership powers? from what I've read they stack with the fortunata's own. I don't think tough alone is going to really be worth the resistances it gives you, boxing is kinda pointless, and a second maneuvers replaces weave plus bonuses for your team too. Kinda like...

I know mass confuse is kind of a staple just for the cheap io's and squeezing in some extra recharge but I kind of hate the whole confuse mechanic, so I'll live without. Also this build is rather cheap. -
Quote:nevermind then! slotting those kin combats!Actually, knockup will never turn into knockback. Knockup and knockback refer to the direction in which enemies are thrown (up or back) and this will never change. However, if the magnitude of either knockup or back falls below about .7 then enemies will only be knocked down and will not go flying in any direction at all.
Regardless though, what Stormy Darkness said about Psionic Tornado is accurate. Since it does knockup it is not subject to any of the problems usually associated with knockback powers.
Although TK is the only non-psi damage in /psi I find that you can get by without it by relying on vet attacks if you have them (black wand and Nemesis Staff). If not, some of the robots may become quite painful. Subdue, Will Dom, TK Blast is a nice attack chain though. -
6 slot with Kinetic Crash or 5 slot with Positron's Blast?
For a targeted AoE it seems fairly weak, but Kinetic Crash has some damage bonus in it anyway, so I'm not worried about damage. The real problem is if I enhance the knock back, is it going to be throwing mobs all over the place? Normally it just hits and they kinda flop on the ground but they don't really move around. -
I hate it when people post really ancient image macros as a response.
People who tell others 'if you don't like it quit' should die in a fire. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Those two points clearly stated, I say Johnny Butane, you are complaining for the sake of complaining. The descriptions have been noted long ago to not entirely be 100% accurate about everything in the game, long ago, by several devs who have posted here. People like you complained, their complaints were heard and responded to, you have taken it upon yourself to continue. There is little point to this thread and I wish I could respond without bumping it. -
My main toon is the best farmer, solo's avs and giant monsters like minions, and can solo most of lambda (can't quite do both sides by myself)
I won't tell you what it is, how to make it, or how to play it.
Play the game yourself and find out. -
I want the next incarnate abilities to improve my character in some way. So far, all of them have. Considering the devs probably thought out exactly what all the incarnate trees would be like when finalized, I really don't care what they do specifically.

I was considering rebuilding my ill/ff controller, shelved long long ago.
Not after reading this. I think many people have made valid points here, that FF is too overspecialized in defense. It seems with each new powerset in any class, older sets are often made obsolete. That's not all bad, new things kind of have to be better sometimes to keep the old players around. To make you want to stop playing you force field character and roll frost, at least if you're interested in things by the numbers.
For those that continue to play bubblers, it's no awful thing. My regen scrapper loves ya, my FA melee types like the rounded out defense, and certainly my defenseless blaster. I might like having ice around a bit better, but I'll certainly take what I can get.
I however am willing to reroll my support toons to find a better set. If nothing else it gives me something to do. Maybe someday the devs will go back and fix some of these antiquated power sets, but I'm not counting on it. Maybe if that day ever comes, I'll unshelf my bubbler. -
hey listen guys if I can't bring my nrg/nrg blaster just hold on and let me log on my ill/bubble troller
-
I was on this team with a guy who only wanted specific powersets and spent about 1 hour leading up to an ITF speed run. Why you need anything but stealth for a SPEED RUN is beyond me, I nearly blew up at the guy.
But anyway, stop whining about getting kicked for playing your energy/devices guy. No one likes you kid. -
I like dark armor, having a dark/dark scrapper and having played a dark/dark tank.
It takes a lot more thought and making decisions based around your positions with mobs, powers that are active, that sort of stuff... so it is a much more intense set to play than say shield or invuln where you run around and just shrug at about anything.
I think dark really shines when you consider IO's and the wide variety of unusual IO's it makes availible for any class with dark. If you can't handle IO's, I have to wonder what you're doing playing at all. It's like playing chess with nothing but pawns. Monopoly with nothing but $1 bills. Gonna be a long slow haul for sure. -
Blasters are not support.
Here, class, let us look to the Holy Trinity
Tank. Damage. Healer.
Healer is one that has the job of flitting about doing little but making sure their allies stay alive. You might also call this support.
Damage focuses on killing things.
Now, remember, our last class on BIG NUMBAHS? Big numbahs are what people look at when they verify how good you are at damage. Big numbahs don't always mean you're doing the most damage though, just that you hit very, very hard when you do.
Some would say that blasters do less damage, but in fact they do equal or more damage to some of the classes that get BIG NUMBAHS because they get to flit around overhead or hide far away and hit things, lots of things with lots of different powers that all focus around doing damage.
There are also some blasters who sacrifice all their cool damage bonuses and recharge bonuses for defense, because maybe they thing they are scrappers or maybe they're just bad at staying alive or maybe they couldn't find their rise of the phoenix button.
There are also blasters that play /devices and they will never get big numbahs or even really do much of anything but fly around hoping to summon pet or bombs or something and getting punched in the face instead, never summoning anything and in general being useless.
Edit: Just kidding, I've actually found a reason for device blasters and it's so they can throw caltrops down, slowing mobs for me to kill in nice groups while they wander off and be otherwise useless. -
I don't like event titles, I just like Avatea and want her costume available at the tailor asap
-
Thanks for replying ultrawatt.
Just to be clear, you're basically saying there's not really much point at all to melee defense? -
The layering I'm talking about though is specifically melee defense. I can't think of any attacks that are melee that doesn't have a smashing/lethal component and wouldn't be avoided by that before falling to melee defense.
So that kind of makes me wonder what the point of melee defense is. -
I mean I get what you're saying but I've played one too specifically DoT class in other games to get saddled with a DoT effect.
Even if it does more damage in the long term. 90% of CoH is trash mobs it would not be effective for.
