Seers (maybe others too)

Hi all

I have a question about Seers.

See T3 Total Radial Improved Ally?

Two seers, 5 minutes, lame damage but the other one is invulnerable with a nice fort buff

Now I move up to T4 Seers Radial Superior Ally

Two seers, but the lame damage component is only 3 min 20 sec... the other is still invuln with a nice fort buff

Why would I ever go to T4? I mean aside from blowing away a VR, isn't this just kind of a sidegrade? Even if the T4 damage dealer is more powerful, the short duration just kind of takes it back down to the T3. Shouldn't an upgrade be like... an upgrade?

Bonus points: Show me the math!

I believe you can summon them more frequently, but I don't recall the specifics.

The T4 has a 10 minute, as opposed to 15 minute recharge, so the buff pet would be out for a higher percentage of the time (1/2 instead of 1/3). The damage pets are out for the same percentage of time (1/3rd), but at the very least, it also does quite a lot more damage.

Diviner Essence:

  • Mental Blast - 4s Recharge - DPA (101.34) / DPCC (21.39)
  • Dominate Mind - 6s Recharge - DPA (262.39) / DPCC (37.48) - 25% chance Mag 3 hold

Auger Essence:
  • Mental Blast - 4s Recharge - DPA (216.18) / DPCC (45.62)
  • Levitate - 6s Recharge - DPA (535.67) / DPCC (46.47)
  • Dominate - 8s Recharge - Mag 3 hold

Since the pets won't have a gapless attack chain by any stretch of the imagination, I'd consider the DPCS (damage / cast cycle) to be the most useful number, as opposed to the DPA, which are both larger for the Auger. Plus, the Auger has a guaranteed mag 3 hold. Definitely a nice enough improvement, I'd say

They cut five minutes off the recharge time. Tier three was fifteen minutes, tier four is five minutes less (Ten minutes).
This is only true for the support side. The 'damage side' of tier four is still fifteen minutes. It was an incentive for more people to pick Support.

Except for the fact that the Boss pet cuts out 2/3s through the escape phase of the BAF.

EDIT: Why does the untouchable pet feel the need to leave my side and close to melee of a pylon that's shooting at me? It can't attack, so why does it leave my side EVER?

Speaking of which, my Rularuu Overseer is the most cowardly lapdog I've ever seen in a pet. Though I stopped at T1 due to my disappointment.

Why did you bring support pets to a BAF? The second is 100% worthless. Swap out for something that attacks and use the support on a mission where they matter.

I don't think it knows it can't attack. I suspect it uses the same AI code as all other critters and thus it is waiting to unphase and attack not knowing that neither of those will ever happen.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Why would you waste your time building a second Lore pet?
Granted, if you already have a VR Lore, there's not much reason to be on a BAF anyway, I guess.

You could do it for fun...

But, quite frankly, the BAF is no where near hard enough (including the prisoner phase) that this is too big of a concern. If you have a VR Lore, you're likely already built out to the gills and having the Lore pet out for only part of the time shouldn't make a massive impact on your likelihood to succeed.

Bug it. The Veteran Buff Pets used to do that do. I've seen Light Fairy Pets charge AVs... and do nothing but intently stare at them til squished... until it was fixed.
