Moved 2 toons from Liberty to make room. Both transferred to holding server fine. But still stuck with ghosted hold outs from those 2... Moved from Protector and Infinity with no ghosting what so ever.
Did they mention a limit to transfers that I missed? Only 6 (while still nice) isn't quite enough to make the room I need/hoped for my home servers -

Last guess 921,500,000... My first guess was woefully inadequate, perhaps based on my own craft & sell bias from drops/tix (which beyond a fantastic supply of Plasmatic Taser has been a tad mediocre). Kudos again on a great thread!

I love this thread... Very curious about the results (I guess 542 million). Kudos for the due diligence.

Quote:All I've noticed is that it's filling my recipes up quicker. I ran only 2 trips on my Unai/Freaks map. I got 4 Pool C drops, 2 Purps, 2 Yellows, a ton of vendor trash (VT). I would have done more more except that I didn't have ww's to operate normally. I've had more 'quality' recipes drop of late. The new Temp Powers have messed up other IO drops. I've spent about an hour farming the wall, and nearly every drop was the temp power or a regular invention recipie. It needs to be looked into. In the hour I farmed I only gotten two yellow IO drops. Something is deffinently wrong.
In two/three hours or less I usually get a purple/high value IO, but now it's just one oranges and four yellows, and so many standard IO's/temp powers I'm just deleting them. Though I am keeping the useful temp powers. -
Quote:Wait for it... wait for it...25 mil for a karma knockback
50 mil for a steath (running) ?????
am I to assume getting I/O's involves farming drops and merits>? Too expensive to buy with influence?
Be patient put up a bid for it. Chances are it will sell cheaper than buy it nao... It's a market. When things are plentiful, they tend to go cheaper (not always maybe it's highly sought after rare item). 25 mil for a Karma KB isn't as high as some of us has seen it go for. Learning to use the markets really will help you IO faster than just grinding missions or merits. If your bid is there you might get it for much less. -
I routinely play between Liberty and Infinity... and usually when the drama of one server kicks in, I find time to play on the other, with Protector being my fallback server. I wind up checking globals from all 3 servers, and really only used free server transfers to clear up space or find better fits for current projects. On one channel a few players moved to Freedom/Virtue for the larger player base, but still come back and chat on their original server, going so far to even recruit (poach) for teams on the other server.
Some of the once-hopping channels from Liberty I dropped when most of those players moved to Virtue. It didn't make sense to keep them even though those players really did focus on the game more so than the server associated channels (IMHO YMMV). After AE, I turned to the globals to find teams rather than hitting broadcast... After all the changes in server population, my SG's/coalitions seem deserted. The server channels feel more important now.
It's been a much better gaming experience (despite silly dramas), run into a LOT of quality players on 3 servers, plus my alt-aholic tendencies flourish with all the choices. -
That is so full of win. I'm kinda shocked I never thought of doing that. Might just change the way I play the game from here on out!

Quote:Fire, my first love has always been fire/fire/pyre tanks... in fact, i've quoted your take on how to play a fire fire to many who are interested in that type of tank... my comment and take on the slow *** tank, was only to infer that sometimes the "tank" in question, demands SB every mob because their build is so ineffective w/ end and recharge that the kin's real power is lost... Also, the mentality, that their taunt, herd, move around a wall method of tanking is always appropriate... and suggesting otherwise becomes an affront...I can see your woes with being back up for a slow Tanker, but youv never teamed with a real Fire/Fire/Pyre Tanker. With, or without your buffs, they can whipe mobs faster then any Tanker you normally play with.(Thats not counting SD/Elec Tankers.)
My point is, dont bother with pandering to that Tank if its a known Stand and Deliver Slow Killing Tanker.Just annyalate the map anyhow.Pointless to allow your self to be played second fiddle.
To the OP, many people play a Fire/Kin because they like speed, and have little, to no patience when it comes to farming, and I cant say I blame them.If you had to stare at the same mobs day after day, id want them dead quick too.
I just perfer other ATs and builds to get that job done.
I would rather kin behind a fire tank ANY DAY compared to a stone tank... What prompted me to play a fire/kin was partnering up with a fantastic player. Fire tank/kin/blaster ftw. I found that I became a better controller once I got away from the farm mentality. My second build reflects that better. -
Quote:THIS... build for speed. That heal needs to be up. Think of your damage chain. I added Tough n Weave. I like fire tanks. They move fast, can herd into tiny groups fast and destroy them. I had no problem solo'ing AV's before I purpled her. But you have to be on top of everything. Melt Armor in the epic pool also very helpful. Plays way different than my stone (too slow) and less robust than my electric. Fire Minded's synopsis should be stickied.
A Fire Tank, requires your Attention, and if you treat it like a Live Grenade, itll do way better then you belive it will. Its the Blaster of Tanks, except it's not shooting a Fireball, it's the Fireball!(Well, technically, you can still get the Pyre Epic Pool and get Fireball, but you get the idea.)
The best way I have found to IO a Fire Tank, is to give it Global Recharge, Accuracy, Regen, and Recovery. It needs nothing more then that.Well, maybe a Knockback IO or 2 couldnt hurt.
This is just my take on it. -
Quote:This... But I happen to love my fire/kin. I just finished a build I can team with. My solo build helped me afford this... I really dig the play style. It's a challenging set in that holds usually come from the immob and stun rather than one "hold". What I find amazing, is that people love fire/kins and want them on the team, but then waste what they do best by chaining them to buffbot/speed boost so the slow *** tank can clear...They're overrated.
The "best" character is the one you find the most fun. And the people who turn down a kin controller of any type aren't people you'd want to team with anyway.
Both builds/versions of my kin play differently. One doesn't need the rest of the team, and the other hides behind the tank in a traditional controller back up. You're better off not being on that team... Usually those teams want you to play a certain way, will tell you when you are 'wrong' and are blind to better ways of doing it... -
Quote:Almost immediately after the Devs posted new information, I saw lots of activity across my usual haunts. Friends back on Liberty... Seemed busier and hopping... Lots of people holding their breath for GR...
Lack of teams isn't a problem with the game, it's a problem with how you look. The population isn't "dwindling", it has stayed pretty steady for a while now, and is showing signs of growing. Going Rogue will probably increase that even more.
If you are listening to broadcast for teams, you probably won't find much. I stopped listening to/for broadcast during the flame wars of the "great satan AE/Farmers suck/don't suck/lvl 1 looking for lvl 50 to carry me to 36 whine fests". My SG & coalies hit the more populated channels for teams and task forces. I have experienced the opposite. I have choices on task forces, servers (Protector & Infinity) almost all the time. I can't check ww's without being hit up...
Teaming is out there. Go find it. Filling spots for your team/task force/gm/badge hunt is pretty easy if you know where/how to look. I won't say that some of the channels have their own clique/drama/stupidity... Yes, I think it has been harder to find teams consistently, but merging the server? This is discussion reminds me more of "AE is the devil, farmers evil, fix the market" retreads than anything... server merge?
No. -
Quote:It isn't... I sweep the cimeroran walls faster than some 3 man teams with my fire tank. Every tank can be taken down by the right circumstances and has different strengths... I like my fire and electric better than the other types because their play style suits me...
Mainly about power set choices that i perfer to play with, and was refused a team spot.
These 3 decided to berate my choice to pick Fire Armor for a tanker and a scrapper that im starting out from scratch with on my new account. They spattered me with geek talk, sighs, and attitudes that any Treky,or Star Wars Geek would understand, about mids, and the math on paper, and this and that, and how i should just shoot my self for picking the most pathetic and underperforming armor set in the game.
When did FA become this weak armor set i keep hearing about and just dont see?
I have a stone that is so boring to play. I see too many that can't do their job without a kin attached to their hip. The so called 'elite' are ignorant though, that's the problem... Just because you can spam heal aura doesn't make you a great empath. Just because you have granite armor doesn't guarantee good tanks... Played with a frequent forum poster's tank that griefed my AE team and another 30+ month vet's dark armor tank that single handedly put me off ITF's for weeks. Pretty much enshrined them all as one star wonders among my SG and coalition members... We just don't play with them... and we don't team with them... The last time I ran with the ITF clown was purely by accident. We had a core team for STF and someone suggested was turned out to be one of his alt's... Sure enough One Star Wonder Boy lived up to his name... and we all got a big reminder to check player ratings...
My solution? One star them and avoid them... We aren't just talking about the nerf to fire armor way back when, it's some holier-than-thou attitude that's more of problem in this game than what toon we bring to the fight. Fire tanks are fine. -
Quote:Craft them? sg badges? Power supply? No...Been playing CoH since July 2004; first time trying to build a simple SG base for my buddy and I to store stuff and craft enhancements...nothing more.
I've spent an hour on wiki and still can't figure out how to get storage bins, etc.
Do I need to craft them?
Do I need to earn SG badges first?
Do I need a power supply?
We have the 300K initial prestige from placing 15 toons in our SG. I added/bought one 2x2 workshop. Where on Earth do I go to buy an invention crafting table? Salvage storage bins? IO storage bin? Inspiration storage bin?
Thanks for any and all advice.
any room that can take storage items, will be able to let you choose what you need, provided adequate prestige and plot/room size restrictions, to be dragged and dropped from the appropriate tab.
To get there, Edit base button while in your sg entrance. Choose place item... and move your toon around to your work shop. Choose from either tech or arcane workshop tabs and you'll see. Everything you need is right there in those workshop tabs (place item tab and be in the correct room).
My base started as a craft/store only base. You'll need to add power and control, if and when you want to add the personal access to your vaulted items. -
Happens to me on my tank in Pocket D... I have 6 toggles and one drops on entering BNY outside zone. I lose one, seemingly random, zoning inside cave, then again back out...
Just one. My tank is elec/elec and I use my power sink for taunts. My end NEVER gets below half way unless I've been playing for hours and I get tired...
Just as frustrating, is zoning into a map, and having the second tray (usually where all my toggles are) become the number one tray. Instead of attacking or buffing, I'm actually turning off my defenses in rapid order just in time to face plant... That one doesn't happen often to me, but when it does, it's spectacular, usually my fire/kin solo opens the map up with a nice dirt nap. I've petitioned that one a dozen times it feels like... -
Quote:THIS THIS THIS!Right click them, Player Note, one-star them in case you run into them on other characters later, and wander off in search of non-tools.
One star wonder these d-bags. You're overall gaming experience will rock. My current one star wonder is a very good player but a lousy person to play with... We could be having fun and all of a sudden it's like "why do you play like that? That move you just did totally sucked and you're stupid for not doing it my way." If he asks what he meant or who the offender was, he sulks and says nothing for the rest of the TF. "One Star" grief'd us once during an ITF, by herding a hoard of angry cimerorans down on us, leaving us to die. A rock solid Ned Flanders type player cursed, and quit after "One Star" told us WE were the bad players and refused to answer why he brought the whole mountain down on us... 6 months playing with "Ned" and he NEVER quit on anything until then. G D Diddly to paraphrase...
I wind up playing a ton of pick up task forces with plenty of coalition members that always seem to pick his main or an alt up, usually through a fringe connection to us (oh I know this guy LFT type thing), that I look forward to adding to his player notes. He's become caricature to me.
I have two SG's that totally won't pick him up when he's LFT, even though he's on our server forums, a good tactical player and well liked by "other" players... He's just not our cup of tea for many reasons...
Player notes will help you find the good ones... That great tank you just ran with, will probably have an excellent toon 2 months from now that you will easily notice in a crowd. -
This is a big bag of win for me. Thank you devs for the awesome sauce in Xmas stocking!!!

So my coalition ran a three 'troller team on a light teaming night. We had an illusion/kin, plant/kin & my fire/kin...
EPIC confusion and fun with my pets causing the most problems... bitey, stabby and grabby definitely got squished like grape on more than one occasion. (when do we get to name OUR pets???)
Even before I got my first 'troller to 50, I really loved running with illusion & plant trollers more so than the others... Fire imps always seemed to mess up my tank's aggro management by bringing down more mobs. Much more pain than KB from any illusion pet caused.

I am really enjoying the recent raids Herc. I would've liked to have done the Hami raid even with the 'thud' involved since I've yet to do one. Looking forward to Sunday's already.
-
On Infinity, just Saturday night, the badge 2.0 channel ran 3 raids back to back for badges, alts or whatever... I wound up getting 1200+ VG merits on top of what I had already. Then the AE Anonymous channel also ran it's regularly scheduled raid on Sunday evening. That regularly scheduled raid has always been a blast. The channel hosts spend some time promoting and running the events.
It was an absolute blast... Lots of players, new connections since a lot of my old ones have taken breaks or moved on from CoH... Plus, I had merits for the costume pieces, bombs to contribute the raids, and my first VG Heavy. I got BOATLOADS of merits on the first run. I didn't have to do the other runs to get the costume pieces I wanted, that was all just extra gravy.
Protector and Liberty also have sponsored raid nights. I think on Protector it's Rush the Rikti on Wednesdays... Scope out a channel or two, add them to a tab or two and you'll find those raids... -
Family is possibly being transferred to the Philippines next year. Am I still going to be able to play if I'm overseas? I remember playing with a great group of Australian players but I'm not sure if they weren't logging across a few ponds...
I can give up most things but I'm gonna go kicking and screaming if I don't get my CoH time... -
