Drop rates for new stuff really high

The various positronic tasers, envenomed daggers and so forth are dropping WAY more frequently than I would have expected. I got, on a three hour Sister P (we did a LOT of killing) about as many deadly gadgets as common IO recipes. That may be off- I had to delete commons- but I got 7 items.
Plasmatic Taser
Envenomed Dagger x2
Revolver
Hand Grenades
Recovery Serum
Power Analyzer Mk II

Does this match anyone else's experience?

Matches my experience.

I have gotten many more of these temp power recipes than ever before--not just the new ones.

Ditto. Including both the old and the new Temp recipes, I've had about thirty drop across the 3-4 toons I've played most since Wednesday. I'm definitely liking the drop rate, but I'm wondering if its only temporary in an effort to build up a supply of the new ones before the drop rates get returned to where they were prior to i17. Hopefully not, but the thought has occurred to me a couple of times...

I've received more than I can use, let alone sell (if the market was up).

I hope these aren't taking the place of other drops. Is this a separate pool?

My only fears with the drop rate this high:

Are the temp powers dropping instead of other Recipes, or in addition to them?

Will the temp powers drop so much, they won't sell for anything so no one will put them on the market (and just vendor/delete them instead)?

P.S. I wouldn't mind getting whole stacks of Recovery Serum for cheap. That stuff is game changing pre-Stamina.

i forsee that happening for some of the temp powers, but others i could see poeple always wanting them

a few i could see to be "high demand" items would be IMO:
  • backup radio
  • envenomed dagger
  • recovery serum
  • med kit
  • stun grenades (maybe)
most of the other ones will just sink in price most likely

Excellent analysis. I agree.

If I can get my stacks of Recovery Serum quickly and cheaply, I'll have no complaints.

I did both parts of the new Posi, a Moonfire, and a good part of the freakolympics arc and got a total of 1 of the new ones to drop, the jetpack. So, completely different exp here.

I wish I would have saved my results, but I was getting the Banished mask badge for Archmage on Unai's first map. Set to +0/+8 and would regularly fill up on recipes 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through the map. Obviously thanks to the new temp power thingies.

Prior to this I was lucky to get 20 recipes for clearing the whole thing.

I'm going to go with the assumption that they are a separate drop pool from standard recipe drop pools. My reasoning for that is the fact that three times now I've gotten a regular recipe drop and a temp power recipe from the same mob. Unless something about the drop pools isn't WAI, that would lead me to believe that they are in a pool of their own.

I think that was the Sis P that I was on with you. I didn't get a single one. You were playing at level and I was exemplared down. I wonder if that made a difference and if it was supposed to have made a difference.

I noticed this on test as well as live, i think they are pool A I just finished an arc and upon killing the "boss; clone" I got a temp power (pool a?), an insperation, a salvage, an enhancment, merits a pool b drop and mission complete xp/inf.

I suspect that temporary powers are part of Pool A. The reason we're seeing so many of them is that many of the new recipes are in the "common" and "uncommon" classes, where the old temporary powers were in the "rare" class.

I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it that could very well explain it. But still, getting a temp power recipe and a regular recipe from the same mob defeat seems odd if the temps are part of one of the regular pools.

The new Temp Powers have messed up other IO drops. I've spent about an hour farming the wall, and nearly every drop was the temp power or a regular invention recipie. It needs to be looked into. In the hour I farmed I only gotten two yellow IO drops. Something is deffinently wrong.

In two/three hours or less I usually get a purple/high value IO, but now it's just one oranges and four yellows, and so many standard IO's/temp powers I'm just deleting them. Though I am keeping the useful temp powers.

I've only played about 8 hours since I17 hit, but I have yet to get a new temp power drop.

Could you run your logs through Dropstats to get some hard numbers on this? Vague feelings and anecdotes are of limited value, and are worthless for getting developer attention.

Temp powers are, indeed, their own drop pool. As you observed, this is what allows you to get a temp power and an enhancement recipe from a single defeat - something I have seen and even have a screenshot of happening to me solo.

They are not part of pool A. Both in beta and live I have gotten pool A and temp power drops from the same mob.

My theory on this new glut of temp recipes is that it may be intentional. Here's why I think that may be the case.
  • There are a lot more temp power recipes now. To keep the odds of getting any one comparable to before, the overall drop rate needs to be increased.
  • Temp powers now have clearly marked rarity. There are yellow and orange temp powers now, which was not the case previously. In order to meet some desired level of availability for these presumably more rare recipes based on their rarity in the overall pool, the total drop rate may have been increased. (This increase and the previous one need not have been unrelated.)
Edit: My anecdote does not match the one above about screwed up drop rates. My drop rate for regular enhancer recipes has been fine. I know someone else who's farming this weekend (down market be damned) who's gotten three purples since Thursday.

Where do I get Dropstats? I've never heard of it actually.

Edit: I think I found it.

Yeah, I've had about 16 of these drop now in only 4 hours of play. It's ridiculous ESPECIALLY if it is replacing set recipes and/or affecting drop rates of rares/ultra rares.

Give me something I can use.

ive noticed far less generic recipes and more temp recipes..... which is only a good thing or at least more interesting

I am averaging 2 Temp powers a run. Night before last I received 5 Temp Power drops in 1 run. I have sent a bunch to alts but now I'm getting so many I either vendor or if my recipes are getting full I just delete them.
