At 50 common IO Recipes are worth a lot of Inf', so I hope that isn't the case.

I've been getting plenty of commons. There's no reason to expect anything about common drop rates to be different. Again, these things are different drop pools.

Ive been getting a lot of them as well. I mail off the ones I think will sell when the market comes up, craft one of each to appease one of my many many CoX addictions (temp power? must keep it FOREVER and NEVER use it! Vial of BEEEEEEEEEES), and vendor the rest.

It's wicked awesome. I just googled it.

I hope this guy is able to start publishing some of his findings soon.

Also: I have a question about something he brought up on his site:

Quote:

If you use DropStats when you're part of a team then the drop rate calculations are invalid. (All the other figures are correct though.) For example, if you're part of a duo and you land the killing blow on most of the mobs, then drop stats will think that you received about 1/2 the drops you should have received.
Does that mean the person who lands the killing blow is more likely to get a drop? I have always suspected this, but I've never been able to confirm it. It makes me want to focus my playstyle more toward blasters and scrappers.... rather than defenders.....

I believe you're interpreting this backwards. If you are in a duo with an AFK force fielder who has you on follow, for instance, you will be committing 100% of the killing blows. Dropstats will see the "you have killed" and the "you have drops" messages, and do the division. Because your friend the forcebot is getting half the drops, though, dropstats will think you are getting half what you "should" have gotten.

Off hand, for every 3-4 IO recipes I drop, I get a temporary power recipe. So something like 3:1 for me, I guess, I've ran out of room for recipes on most of my toons, so most of the time I just delete temps that I already have.

They are not part of pool A. Both in beta and live I have gotten pool A and temp power drops from the same mob.

My theory on this new glut of temp recipes is that it may be intentional. Here's why I think that may be the case.
  • There are a lot more temp power recipes now. To keep the odds of getting any one comparable to before, the overall drop rate needs to be increased.
  • Temp powers now have clearly marked rarity. There are yellow and orange temp powers now, which was not the case previously. In order to meet some desired level of availability for these presumably more rare recipes based on their rarity in the overall pool, the total drop rate may have been increased. (This increase and the previous one need not have been unrelated.)
Edit: My anecdote does not match the one above about screwed up drop rates. My drop rate for regular enhancer recipes has been fine. I know someone else who's farming this weekend (down market be damned) who's gotten three purples since Thursday.
I can echo that I am getting the temp powers along with Pool A drops. They are either in Pool E (with the costume recipes) or in their own pool.

In two/three hours or less I usually get a purple/high value IO, but now it's just one oranges and four yellows, and so many standard IO's/temp powers I'm just deleting them. Though I am keeping the useful temp powers.
All I've noticed is that it's filling my recipes up quicker. I ran only 2 trips on my Unai/Freaks map. I got 4 Pool C drops, 2 Purps, 2 Yellows, a ton of vendor trash (VT). I would have done more more except that I didn't have ww's to operate normally. I've had more 'quality' recipes drop of late.

Okay, I have a Dropstats log. And its a little weird. As it says that no "Rare" recipes dropped. I did get only one Rare recipe, and it was for the new temp powers. Apparently purples (Very Rare) are more common than oranges (Rare). The reason why I have no salvage is because my salvage is full.

Hope that helps a little.

PS: What I might do it farm again. As I did duo with a lower level friend for about 20 minutes in two mayhem missions for badges. Though the only drops I recived were I think four or five standard IO's so I am not sure if it would have affected it to much. I only killed about 80 or so mobs.

I looked down and I noticed I had 14 of these friggin' things after not so many missions. Of course I have the salvage to make exactly zero of them. It's to the point where I simply delete revolvers as soon as I see them.

You've got to understand that your drop sample there is way tiny compared to what's needed to actually begin to see pattern. We've got a long-running where we're talking many thousands of drops measured across multiple players over the course of months, and that's barely enough to see the trend in purples.

DropStats doesn't have the new Temporary Powers in it, yet. It should be pretty easy for people to add them to a dl'ed copy, though, as all the recipe names are in text files.

Once we're sure of the pool they drop in, I'll see if I can get Archie to update the files, or show me where they are and I'll update them. (He's started a new job with a bad commute, so he's been a bit flaked out in the evenings ATM.)

I've also been surprised by how commonly these have dropped.

I got a Kinetic Dampener on the first day after placing a bid for one. Ive since got around 5 temps on every character Ive played over the weekend.

I'd Kinetic Dampener to the generally useful list. +16%(?) Def vs Smash and Lethal and +30% Res to Energy has got to be nice for a number of characters and situations.
Any Brute or Tank with existing S/L def like Energy Aura, Stone or Ice can now vastly power up for boss fights. The Energy Res would also be handy for say a Invulnerability or Dark Tank on a ship raid.

I realize that random number generators are random, but has anyone else noticed that yellow and orange recipe rates seem to be lower? I'm mostly playing villains right now, and I'll go 8-10 missions before I get a yellow drop, from levels 10 to 50.

Just my anecdotal two cents...

Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html

I have experienced the same thing... running some story archs the team was commenting on who was getting what. It think as a team we got all the new temps to drop
