Drop rates for new stuff really high
I've been getting plenty of commons. There's no reason to expect anything about common drop rates to be different. Again, these things are different drop pools.

Ive been getting a lot of them as well. I mail off the ones I think will sell when the market comes up, craft one of each to appease one of my many many CoX addictions (temp power? must keep it FOREVER and NEVER use it! Vial of BEEEEEEEEEES), and vendor the rest.

Where do I get Dropstats? I've never heard of it actually.
Edit: I think I found it. |
http://www.glasspaw.com/dropstats/
I hope this guy is able to start publishing some of his findings soon.
Also: I have a question about something he brought up on his site:
If you use DropStats when you're part of a team then the drop rate calculations are invalid. (All the other figures are correct though.) For example, if you're part of a duo and you land the killing blow on most of the mobs, then drop stats will think that you received about 1/2 the drops you should have received. |
Does that mean the person who lands the killing blow is more likely to get a drop? I have always suspected this, but I've never been able to confirm it. It makes me want to focus my playstyle more toward blasters and scrappers.... rather than defenders..... |

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Off hand, for every 3-4 IO recipes I drop, I get a temporary power recipe. So something like 3:1 for me, I guess, I've ran out of room for recipes on most of my toons, so most of the time I just delete temps that I already have.
Temp powers are, indeed, their own drop pool. As you observed, this is what allows you to get a temp power and an enhancement recipe from a single defeat - something I have seen and even have a screenshot of happening to me solo.
They are not part of pool A. Both in beta and live I have gotten pool A and temp power drops from the same mob. My theory on this new glut of temp recipes is that it may be intentional. Here's why I think that may be the case.

total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
The new Temp Powers have messed up other IO drops. I've spent about an hour farming the wall, and nearly every drop was the temp power or a regular invention recipie. It needs to be looked into. In the hour I farmed I only gotten two yellow IO drops. Something is deffinently wrong.
In two/three hours or less I usually get a purple/high value IO, but now it's just one oranges and four yellows, and so many standard IO's/temp powers I'm just deleting them. Though I am keeping the useful temp powers. |

Okay, I have a Dropstats log. And its a little weird. As it says that no "Rare" recipes dropped. I did get only one Rare recipe, and it was for the new temp powers. Apparently purples (Very Rare) are more common than oranges (Rare). The reason why I have no salvage is because my salvage is full.
Hope that helps a little.

I looked down and I noticed I had 14 of these friggin' things after not so many missions. Of course I have the salvage to make exactly zero of them. It's to the point where I simply delete revolvers as soon as I see them.

DropStats doesn't have the new Temporary Powers in it, yet. It should be pretty easy for people to add them to a dl'ed copy, though, as all the recipe names are in text files.
Once we're sure of the pool they drop in, I'll see if I can get Archie to update the files, or show me where they are and I'll update them. (He's started a new job with a bad commute, so he's been a bit flaked out in the evenings ATM.)
Arc#314490: Zombie Ninja Pirates!
Defiant @Grouchybeast
Death is part of my attack chain.
I've also been surprised by how commonly these have dropped.
I got a Kinetic Dampener on the first day after placing a bid for one. Ive since got around 5 temps on every character Ive played over the weekend.
I'd Kinetic Dampener to the generally useful list. +16%(?) Def vs Smash and Lethal and +30% Res to Energy has got to be nice for a number of characters and situations.
Any Brute or Tank with existing S/L def like Energy Aura, Stone or Ice can now vastly power up for boss fights. The Energy Res would also be handy for say a Invulnerability or Dark Tank on a ship raid.
I realize that random number generators are random, but has anyone else noticed that yellow and orange recipe rates seem to be lower? I'm mostly playing villains right now, and I'll go 8-10 missions before I get a yellow drop, from levels 10 to 50.
Just my anecdotal two cents...
Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html
I have experienced the same thing... running some story archs the team was commenting on who was getting what. It think as a team we got all the new temps to drop
