Gotta agree with this much. The knockback is great for setting things up for an Eviserate on as many as possible.

And it isn't even much of a penalty on my Claws/WP scrapper. While they're on their backs they aren't doing damage and the breather gives me enough time to run after them (back into RTTC range) and line up an Eviserate and Spin to finish them.

That all said if it was changed to knockdown I'd be delighted. But it's not too much of a drawback that it's KB at the mo, certainly doesn't make it useless for a Claws/WP or Claws/Elec (it's a lifesaver on the Claws/Elec in fact, and I'll be picking up Fences at 41 anyway if I just want to use it as an AOE with no knockback).

Yeah, that was Jack Emmert I think, apparently he's big into Greek and Roman history. Of course Cimororororia came about long after he'd gone.

The Devs do have a habit though of spinning out up and coming power sets by giving them to new enemies first, so maybe that had a bit to do with it too. A convergence of "Hey, we've got this cool new Shield set technology" combined with "Hey, this 300 thing is pretty cool and people on the boards seem to like it too"

The worst thing about the zone was that in the issue they released it they hadn't any content to put in there bar a TF/SF. The Arcs only came along an Issue later which was a bit rubbish.

We were fighting our way to the reactor, you know, for teh XP! rather than merits in the shortest possible time. Just as we got into the belt and shield room, I turned to the reactor to see what seemed like the Freakshow, and I mean, THE Freakshow, ALL OF THEM, in the reactor room, there was a bright white flash, and we all appeared in Terra Volta with much chat of 'WTF?' and 'What the he** happened?' as 'mission failed' appeared. Whoops.
Heh MC, I did the exact same thing with Carni the first time I ran this (Skyraider version).

I was doing the Invis Scout thing and had been told to scout ahead and TP the team into the reactor.

But I thought the reactor would be a seperate map or an elevator or something. So I opened the door, saw a reactor, thought "Oh right" and then turned my back on it to TP the rest of the team to the room too. Didn't know opening the door meant the ambushes would trigger. 2 minutes or so later, while we were still getting it together *Flash* "Mission Failed"

Wouldn't mind but this was way back and the Diff on the mish was high (+2/+3s I think) so we'd be slogging through the damn thing for hours.

I felt like a right muppet.

*Edit : And of course countless times I've done the "Friday night special" of clicking 'Quit Team' instead of 'Exit Mission'

    "Zonekicking"

Being forced down to a pre-travel power level by such a zonekicking would be not so ideal.

Maybe only a few zones would be suitable, but then there is still the increased risk in getting to a mission door.

I like that I can happily ignore the grey DA zombies (or more more recently aI have a lot of doors in Boomtown, so clocks, lost and council) when running a high level arc, just get in and get out and onto the next mission.

The concept works well in the PVP zones, because those are entirely optional, and no mission doors from non-PvP contacts occur in them. Im not sure it would be such a good idea appied to Hazard zones.

Having the zone chief be the optional source of the autoexemp seems like a reasonable compromise. But then each zone does have a large range of levels, (typically 10) where would you exemp to ?
At that point however, using the O-zone as a workaround is barely less clunky.
^ This basically. I've done high level hero arcs (Malta I think) that have sent me to Perez. And on completion it sent an ambush of Knives of Artemis after me too. Auto-SKing me to 15 (or whatever it is) just wouldn't work for this situation. Even if the KOA ambush was given a Rikti Invasion style "No Level" they'd still eat me alive.

Meh. Loser Hero Talk. "Saving a downed team member"? Pah. They're down. No point saving a corpse.

It does remind me of a mish last night in the Hellforge filled with Slag Piles. Myself and a corrupter were catching up to the team when we got jumped by an ambush / hidden bunch. Of course I jump in and try and attract their attention (come here nice and close so I can Spin and Eviserate ye to death). He quickly dies though and I'm just about to do the same when he shouts out "Quick! Use my corpse as a shield!". Of course I died, but I died chuckling

There's nothing wrong with scrapperlocking because you think you're a big can o' awesome, even if you do die spectacularly in the attempt. But if you do it repeatedly over and over again though then you may have a problem.

Ah Mirelock. Even deadlier than Scrapperlock since it taunts you into dropping into your Squishy form just to trigger or benefit from it. Sticking my "Damage Buff" onto the Combat Monitor was probably the worst thing my WS could ever had done. "Oooh, look at the big number. Time for Nova Form."

Personal perception with my Dark/WP now it seems that he's fine even fighting x6 Rikti, but I have to be sure to corner-herd and duck into cover to encourage them to cluster nice and close for RTTC.
  8. Looking at your screenie the issue seems to be that they are still labelled as "Snare Duration" in the left-hand item tree, not Slow Movement.

So I assume that's the issue they are talking about (and why the OP couldn't spot them easily).

The Lift Escape Route can be quite silly. My Necro/Dark Mastermind was soloing Posi and Valkarie. For Posi I had a moment of "Oh, I'm sorry. I see you're gone into overdrive. Me and my pets will just toddle back into these lifts and come back in a few minutes once you're spent".

Valk didn't have a lift near her though, the cheating minx (cue Benny Hill chase around the room for 2 minutes when she Godmoded).

Why? A couple reasons. 1. It's annoying when you don't have the money to sell what you wants to sell. 2) You are punished for taking out your merchandise to lower the prices on them (because you will be charged again to put them back up at the lower price).
On Point 2, you're being punished for putting something on for too much originally. Which is a good thing in terms of encouraging people to put things on for relatively sane prices in the first place.

I don't think they should get rid of the "Place into Auction" fee at all.
  14. My Level 43 Dark/WP/Mu, mostly SOed with a few frankenslotted IOs is running +0x6 with bosses fairly happily, but I'm thinking of switching it to something like +1x5 or +2x4 as I'm having to slog through them one by one a lot (no aoes)

My Level 35 SOed Stone/Fire runs +0x4, with bosses (Stone Melee likes bosses), nice balance of tough enemies for the built-up Mallets & Seismic Smash coupled with a lot of enemies for Burn Patches, Fault, Tremor and Blazing Aura to deal with.

My Level 30 SOed Claws/Elec runs -1x4, no bosses at the mo, AOE fast and furious through them. With her I'm thinking of continuing to milk the AOEs and just raising the Number of Heroes she's equal to.

  16. Seekers are pets, so if they're attacked any Henchmen on Aggressive or Defensive will attack their attackers.

At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If you want your bots not to aggro have them on Passive until the alpha happens and then switch to Defensive before the mobs round the corner.

I do know that your open orders to sell will remain active unless you don't use that toon for 60 days.
I'm no Market expert at all, but I do know that this was changed. Now your items in the store won't expire while your account is active, they'll only expire if your account is inactive for 60 days, which is nice.

  19. Far as I can see (from Dev posts over the years and recently) the Form Changes of HEATs were initially designed as a thing you use sparingly on teams. The idea was that you picked the form which filled whatever hole was on your team and pretty much stuck to it (say like a WoW Druid).

We're talking about an AT which originally had some pretty horrible debuffs on it, by design, which teaming was meant to negate. This was removed, but it was still part of the original design.

I love form flitting, but I've always felt that the Triform dancing Warshade was a happy accident, not something the devs (and especially not the original devs) meant by design (in fact the way Dwarf Mire got changed to a low duration, quick recharging attack & buff further hints that things like double mired Novas on the resistance cap were never intended by the initial design).

Khelds aren't the only AT that's moved considerably from its initial design. Lots of ATs have had radical changes from their initial design to something more suited to the actual game ("just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it'll work well in practice"). Controllers, Dominators and Stalkers for example, have all had substantial changes to their initial design.

Still my WS is easily my most fun character to play, initial bad design or no.

This is the devs speaking in deeds, not merely in words. HEATs had issues at introduction and for a long time. Whether or not they still do is subject to debate.

VEATs were well designed from the outset, and haven't required tweaking to get right.
VEATs are indeed probably better designed (in terms of ease of use) than Khelds. I wouldn't argue that (in fact if they hadn't been better designed it wouldn't say a lot for our Devs if they hadn't learned anything in terms of Powerset design over 3 years).

However in terms of design they are a lot "safer" in terms concept for the characters and rather dull compared to HEATs in terms of the powers they get (although I admit I'm mainly speaking from a Warshade PoV). They just don't seem that interesting to me in terms of playing one (that said I used to say the same thing about melee classes before I tried Brutes).

I'm glad that HEATs were done back in Issue 2 or whenever. If they'd been designed recently, going on the dull concept behind the VEATs we'd all be playing Longbow *shudder*

Off hand, it seems accurate enough (as there have been few real changes to the MM archetype) with once big exception:
As of I16, your henchmen now zone with you. This is fantastic news, meaning that you can prep, get your end back, and then go through the 'hot door'. Of course, it is minorly bugged where occasionally you go through and you lose control of your pets... but if you have the patience to zone a few more time they will eventually become yours again

But hey! At least most of the time your well prepared!
How did you manage to make a MM 3 issues before they were released. HAX!!

I suspect the "losing control of pets" thing might be related to Map Server clock times, the same sort of thing which causes toggle drops, but I haven't tested my theory at all

Given that we've common maintenance nowadays I assume the two clients should always be updated at the same time now, so it shouldn't matter about having 2 seperate installs.

In fairness Cimerororora has always been a conceptual mess. The only reason it exists is because someone in Paragon Studios got excited about 300.

This is really annoying to me and I'm sure to many other people. Anyone that does THIS is instantly on my ignore list. So that might be your problem right there. I can't stand when people bug me to join my team if I don't know them, and I never do it to others myself. If I'm not on a team, I FORM a team. If I wanted you on my team, you'd either be ON my team already, or I'd be looking for someone with their flag up so I'd find you anyways. But bugging people already ON teams? Such a huge taboo, and I don't know why but it bothers me SO much when people do this.
Not so much EU side, or certainly I've never heard of anyone Ignoring or Complaining about it on teams. I have gotten "lol, he messaged me too" a few times but generally then they get invited.

I can't see why anyone would take umbrage at it really. Especially before the new Diff settings where you might be only one of a few people in your level range around and visible on the /sea menu. From advice I read on the EU boards asking around nicely seemed always be one of the ways to go. There was certainly no taboo around messaging someone on a team.

I'm hoping the Devs will finally give Team Leaders an opt-in "Looking for Members" flag soon. Been suggested tonnes of times, BaBs himself mentioned it before and I never heard anything about it since.
