Quote:If your initial strategy doesn't work, you create a new one. Not everything can be a one and done. So, explain to me how having more players there will enable me to magically survive more damage in one hit than I have total health? Healers can't help if I'm dead before they can cast anything. Bubblers are no help, I already had maximum Defense. Debuffing her might help, but not every group is going to have that going for them. Are you suggesting it's good design to require a specific power type to make it playable?
I was as tough and well defended as I could be, and did as much damage as I could have, and was still one shotted. No team would have prevented that (short of having a Tank to be two shotted first).
Oh, and this may be a shock to you, but players of ALL levels will want to play the winter content. When the game starts at L38 you can start using that lame argument.
It's poorly designed.
If you're playing as a stalker, then act like one. Open with an Assassin Strike, placate, and repeat with necessary inspirations at hand. Hell, you could even do like the mission text, which I copy-pasted for you, and you could pull her to the Tuatha.
Games aren't broken when a player has no strategy to combat an adversary. -
Quote:Slotted with the Unbreakable Constraint: Chance for Smashing can also work the Yellows. You are right about it having the ranged modifier as well though.Fortunata is one of the BEST in ITF because those elite bosses have no psi resistance when their god modes are up so you can help finish them off easily. Your psionic damage is very good in that strike force. And also, the healing nictus require a hit check so your Mind Link and leadership defense help a lot too especially if you have MMs on the team.
Lady Grey is also great because during Hami fight, your Fortunata's dominate counts as both Range and Control type? I haven't confirmed this but I just did two Lady Grey recently and it's a piece of cake. All the psionic damage from Mentalists are not bothering me at all. Drones take a bit longer to kill but they die easily anyway. -
I'm sorry that the developers forgot to mention that this is an online game, and that teaming is generally encouraged. Perhaps there should be a public service announcement?
Oh wait, "You must be careful, as Lady Winter is dreadfully powerful. Take solace in the fact that you will not be alone. You will find strange allies in the Tuatha, who have arrived at the scene to stage an assault on the fortress Lady Winter has made for herself. Speak with the one named Nuada and he will help you with the siege of Agincourt." Maybe you should use the developer method of beating her on a toon that isn't capable of soloing her.
And just for the sake of being even more rude, maybe you're just not good a playing a stalker or you didn't slot it properly? Games aren't broken, players are.
Even though I don't like the teams direction of "You're not doing it our way, so we're nerfing your way," complaining about soloing on a low level character that hasn't even unlocked a T9 is laughable. -
The following build was taken from a previous thread about soloing redspec, and then was modified only slightly. I'm currently running the exact build in-game, and I'm enjoying myself. The build has no melee, however, several small modifications could be made if you felt inclined to make it more melee-heavy.
It's a Legacy build, so don't get worried if you aren't seeing my Recall Friend on there or my Summon Widow. They were removed when I was considering some other slotting.

I'm toggle heavy on my Fort, so I'm running with Cardiac Radial. I've got an uncommon of each type, and I need to get Cardiac Core for the ranged boost as opposed to my 1% increase in Psi Resist from Radial.

Storm/Dark Defenders aren't exactly unusual, but mine was pretty fun.
He wasn't the greatest damage output, but with all the -ToHit and the Tornado + Lightning Storm combo, I would have quite a bit of fun. I however, have not played him since the Defender inherent changes, so I don't know what his damage and etc. look like now. He was also pre-i9 and I was terrible at slotting back then. -
In this day and age, everyone owns a cellphone. Twitter and Facebook can send messages to said cellphone.
*Gasp* Astounding revelation, isn't it?
And don't give me the "What if he/she doesn't own a cellphone?" arguement. If he/she is paying for CoH and can't afford a cellphone, then he/she has other priorities to worry about and should probably cancel his/her subscription to save money. -

You can still use "XX\XX\CohUpdater.exe" -useTexEnvCombine -uiskin 2, unless something has changed about shortcut cmds or I've mixed that idea up with something else.
-
I'm beginning to think it has to do with the client. Causing multiple pop-ups from rewards and etc. will guarantee a crash, just like having a screen full of Kinetic siphons.

Quote:I felt that way about the Origins Pack when I won a code.OK so I was watching the Twitter sight and thought hell there is no chance, I am at work, I got 2 windows open, one for my nc account the other for the twitter site. I can do this!
Well nope I noticed the posting to late and missed it. So day goes on and I am at my desk bored and get up to stretch my legs. I come back and click onto my facebook and just as i do that the post for facebook pops up from CITY OF HEROES as "posted 1 SEC ago". I freak!
Log back into my nc account and applied my account and friggin jumped in my seat when it said "CODE APPLIED" my coworkers were looking at me going WHAT THE HELL. I cant believe i won a code I am so friggin excited.. WHEW!!!!
I'd done the window thing on Aion, since it's release, and I never got a single thing, even if I had the Twitter updating as soon as one was posted. -
Quote:I've not needed nukes for CoP, but the team I've heard of having successfully gotten MoTM were using Force Bubble + Nukes. My assumption would be that any knockback would affect the invis mobs, but that latest patch may have borked that. It's because you're not using *the* strategy that they had in mind!
Just like *the* strategy of the original Hami Raid.
And like the original Hami Raid, I bet they never successfully got the Dodger badge on their own. And certainly not under the new restriction or any future restrictions they might add which have never been and won't be actually play tested.
I wonder if they hired Jack back. -
Quote:The level shift inspiration does make your closer to the enemy level without leveling the enemy, while the Incarnate abilities level shift you as you normally would, without needing to talk to a trainer. Most likely...both. I believe War Witch said something about the game now being scalable to "a theoretical level 60". As we get new powers, I expect to get better enemies behind the doorways, and possibly for incarnate level zones.
But I don't see them raising the difficulty of current in-world enemies. So I think we will eventually have the Rikti Magus con yellow to us when we do a ship raid.
I didn't mean to make my post ambiguous as to my actual thought there. -
Personally, I slotted my Dark Obliteration with the Knockdown proc from Ragnarok.
It doesn't entirely stop the running, but by the time I've AoE'd and hit them with it, they're either dead or knocked down long enough for me to make them dead. -
Quote:Cardiac Core doesn't affect any resistance on Foresight or Combat Training: Defensive, since they do not take either enhancement.Yeah, what Gameboy said. Widow's begin with zero resists, but gain resists as their hit points dissapear similiar to SR. What I was referring to is that if you can get some base resistance it will stack with the sliding resists and you can hit the cap for S/L, but you'll be almost dead when it happens.
Not sure how much it would affect survival, but if someone was interested in experimenting you could get the pvp unique, slotted tough and five sets of Gladiator's Strike and get @ 34% base S/L resists. With Cardiac Core Paragon slotted you could push this to 37% S/L maybe. My widow has 1622 hitpoints, so at 405 hit points she would have roughly 77% resists to S/L, 60% to psi (foresight + mind link) and 40% to all else but toxic.
Hmmm... might need to xfer to test and do some experimenting.
It will however buff psi resist tied to IW and ML. -
-
Widows hard-cap at 200% defense and 85% resist. Personally, I think taking the Fighting Power pool is near useless due to my -tohit's and 70% global defense as is.

Quote:There is level shifts attached to the Incarnate abilities, so enemies will level as we do. Probably up to lvl 60(at +0) by the way things are looking. (Some inspirations even cause a level shift without the enemies leveling) Ramiel also calls the new TFs we'll be getting "Incarnate Trials", so I'm sure that they'll be more suited to Incarnates./Threadjack
My questions are these:
With IO's and stupidly awesome builds, you add all these slots and toons will end up being stupidly overpowered. How will the DEV's create content that will offer the right kind of dificulty?
/end threadjack
Battle Maiden is just a taste of the harder content to come, as well as a way to curve players to the new challenges. -
Quote:Personally, I think the Task Force is extremely easy, but I'm not going to explode into rage over it.I can only see one major thing thats got to change on this tf. Its the damn death patches of doom. Make it where they can not spawn right at the exit from the building. Too many times our whole team gets insta-killed just leaving the roof. No Lrn2Dodge isnt going to help that because by the time you character can move your already dead. Maybe give exiting the door a 3 second untouchable state or something, because right now its extreme cheating with the npcs which is something I know alot of us didnt want anymore in the lvl 50 content. We get that enough with Statesman/Tyrant/Hero-1/M.Bison's 100% resistance to damage crap.
There isn't really a need for the untouchable state, if you can just send a single player to say "Hey, spears inc on the door!"
I had a run where this happened just yesterday, and one of the other players announced in team chat to prevent it from occurring again. Didn't have a problem after that, except for the occasional players that thought they could survive the flames after I told them not to touch. -
Personally, I'd just like to see the TF require the players to have their slot, or an on screen warning to all players at the beginning of the task force that they will be debuffed.
I've had to tell multiple players on Live, "Hey, you know you're going to be level 46 during this Task Force without your Alpha slotted. I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm going to run with you." -
Quote:Argueably, the Alpha slot is useless, unless you plan to run the new TFs. You don't NEED them to play the game. We've been playing the game this way since i1.and so far, after arresting several hundred level 50+ foes, I have had exactly ZERO incarnate shards drop. yes, I know all about the RNG but right now it appears that a shard dropping is about as rare as a purple recipe.
I would suggest that they also allow us to buy incarnate pieces with hero and villain merits. that would help those of us who cannot run a lot of TFs to have a more consistent way of obtaining incarnate material. it still wouldn't be all that fast compared to people that can participate in a lot of TFs but would be way better than the options I see now for solo players.
the best you can do is get 3 merits every two days but it's a good week if I can average even close to 1 per day. so I wouldn't be rushing to the top of the incarnate list any time soon. but it would certainly provide a lot more options and enjoyment to this part of the game.
as it stands now, I totally agree with the OP. farming for 150 Vanguard merits will take way too long and be way too boring as the only solo option to obtain Incarnate items.
