There is! There is something there! What is that? It looks like text. Let's see...

Is that? No... You can't mean that... It's too small to read.

Oh, man, yes, it is. I can't believe this. That can't be right. It must be...

Oh, come on, now! Moo! I'm ashamed of you, man. I'm ashamed of you. I never thought to read between the lines of your posts, but who would have thought THAT was there?

Well, I am sickened and disgusted!
    Made me smile. Thank you.

  3. The brass lamps are a great idea. Thanks.
  4. My Claws/Fire does wonderful.
  5. A good base design is one that you like.
  6. I occasionally lvl lock one of my heroes for about 15 minutes. Then I think about all the powers I will get in the future so I go back to earning XP.

There are times though when I think it would be fun to have my brute or Controller at a specific lvl just because I like the baddies or something.

So my vote is for you to take one of your favorites that you still play and make a clone up to whatever lvl you like. Then you get to play something you enjoy and earn merits or tickets to your hearts delight.
  7. I agree that some of the older content does need updating. It has also been a while since they did any Reward Merit tweaking to them. Perhaps I am wrong but I have not heard anything about it.

My initial comment was poorly phrased perhaps. More likely it simply wasn't expanded enough for which I apologize. I'll attempt to do so now.

I like many others suffer badly from Altitis, creating something new on a whim only to see her neglected as a new idea comes along. While I don't have 148 Alts that I enjoy playing I do have a few. Not all of them can be Incarnates, I wouldn't even try. Not all of them will hit 50. Heck, a lot of them will be lucky to ever hit 30.

So far I have one hero with the Alpha slotted. That would be my Claws/Fire Brute. The only reason she is the one is because that is who I was playing at the time Incarnates came along. I've joined more teams since hitting 50 with her then I have in a long time. Not just WSTs and TFs but just teams running around the city trying to save Paragon from a wide variety of issues ranging from Hellions in Perez to the spooky eyeballs in the Shard.

Will my Brute continue along the Incarnate path? Maybe. She is lots of fun and look forward to seeing what the Trials will be like. If they are no fun then I won't do them regardless of the rewards.

I can appreciate your wanting to make your hero stronger and that does take time. If you are only able to play for a limited amount of time each week I can understand that as well. The problem then becomes that it is not neccessarily the rewards that are limiting your abilty to become stronger.

If it is simply matter of wanting the shiny enhancements then spend an hour or so learning how to work the Market. There are guides a plenty in that section. It is so easy. If I can do it anyone can.

I got here late to the game, not quite four years now. I missed out on the days when we fought crime just for the sake of fighting it.

I did spend some time hooked on TFs, running Katies endlessly. That probably explains why I didn't run a TF for such a long time. Well one of the reasons anyways.

What I did learn after I stopped doing that was the reward (for me anyways) was to be a hero.

That is where I am coming from. I hope it makes some sense.

Play the game you want. Don't worry about the rewards because they do come.
  8. Random rolls have nothing to do with the market though.
  9. For my Alpha I picked the End one. It is at the point now that I only use Consume when fighing the oh so squishie Carnies or being annoyed by the gnat like Mus.

Whatever you pick I hope you have lots of fun.
  10. Consume keeps you from huffing and puffing and Oblits worked great on my Claws/Fire.
  11. I thought about making one of these but settled on Sonic/KIn instead. Not only do I get to Debuff stuff I can Buff as well. I anticipate being able to solo very well.
  12. To help with your 'ghost' idea put a stealth proc in one of the prestige sprints then hover everywhere with it on. Looks neat.

    Is it just me...

I'm honestly not sure how much it has changed.

When I first got here there was always people bickering back and forth, making little snide comments about other players.

Then it seemed to go away for a couple of years.

Maybe what you are seeing is simple a natural cycle of the forum.

I still find people very helpful here.

I recently remembered (after 4 years) that you could re-color all the UI menus. Being a man completely obsessed with customization, I promptly signed in to ALL my characters and changed their UI color to match their themes. Makes things so much cooler, if you ask me.
You can recolour your UI menus? Had no idea about that either.

Love this thread already. Please teach me more.
  15. I discovered I could go side to side with the 'A' and 'D' buttons after noy quite 4 years.

In all honesty I think I discover that like once a year and promptly forget about it.
  16. No, no pressure here actually. When I finally get something to 50 I ussually play it pretty consistantly for 4-5 months before the itch for something new comes along.

This time was no difference with my Claws/Fire Brute (which everyone should have. Not mine though, go get your own.) I run her with my friends but that is becoming less each day as I search for something new.

    So, no, no pressure.
  17. Yaaaa for babies. Congratulations on the gift you have received.
  18. Play the game the way you want to and have fun. Don't worry about the rewards.

  20. So this Pet Question is something they are going to ask me the NEXT time I log into Master Account to get more time or this is something I already answered like 3 + years ago when I first started?
  21. Claws/Fire Brute is my suggestion. Now let me tell you why.

Before I stumbled on this combination I tried a lot of different things.

At 50 I have a Fire/Rad Controller and a Fire/Emp Controller as well. There is a Claws/SR SCrapper and a Fire/Fire Tank. Throw on top a Empathy/SOnic Defender and a bunch of alts at different levels. Currently I'm playing a Rad/Electric Defender which is actually a lot of fun. She kind of feels like a Blapper with really good Def cause my Debuffs are making things miss a lot.

So I can understand the desire to experiment with something different.

Claws is a devastating set with 2 AoE Eviscerate and Spin. There is also a Debuff attack so you can make the Boss not so bossy and a Damage Buff Attack so you can be even tougher.

Fire Armour is considered a soft secondary choice (I think that is the way you would say it starts off with squishie Resistance) but with proper use of Reactive Armours, Obliterations you build enough actual positional defence that if you really want you can stay alive in groups of +1/*5 with very little effort at all.

(I think it is called POsitional Defence for Range/Melee/AoE defences. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. It happens a lot more then I'm willing to admit actually. If you want just send me a PM informing me that I am wrong. Then I can sneak back here and edit my post and no one would be the wiser. Yes, lets do that.)

There is also a wonderful heal in Fire Armour , along with Consume which helps you get your Endurance back. If you run with Tough/Weave on all the time, which is what I do, then you will make good friends with Consume. I call mine Sammi.

Then you come to Burn. It is a PBAoE that helps prevent you being stuck by Imobolize attacks but more importantly does lots of damage to the baddies.

So you run into the middle of baddies with Blazing Aura turned on, hit your Build Up type swipe, do a quick SPin attack, Burn some baddies around you and if there happens to be anyone still standing, walk over and Eviscerate them. It is amusing to watch.

There is also a power that gives bonus damage to all attacks and extra for Fire based attacks. That helps too.

I know that sets of Oblits and Reactive Armours can get exspensive at times but just start bidding early and be patient. You will find you don't actually need to pay the silly prices after all.

    So I vote Claws/Fire Brute.
  22. Well I'm hoping that when Issue 20 comes out I will be able to look back to when I started (which was just before the 2nd Rikti Invasion I believe) and see how much improvement there is.

Maybe the game will have evolved enough since I got here that calling the Issue 2.0 would kind of make sense. That would give you the sequel you are looking for.
