Sonic/Sonic - Ghost concept

BashfulBanshee

I don't feel that there is a great deal one can do with a Sonic/Sonic when it comes to IO sets. I could be wrong. My concept is something ghost like, like a Banshee to be precise. Death is already something agreeable to me and between Dreadful Wail, Soul Transfer and Dark Consumption I like to think my concept makes great venge fodder.

Typically with her Sonic Dispersion she could be situated amongst rangers or melee. In teams with aggro on characters that have higher threat all I would worry about is aoe. Otherwise I could phase shift or die and dyings never a problem.

On the off chance being that I am not a corrupter aficionado I was wondering if anyone else had either or both primary and secondary with different/better ideas they might like to share. If I pvped then perhaps sonic cage would be six slotted to concentrate on the main opposing threat. If I had a ranged pet I might have repulsion and just shoot whilst being next to it. With disruption field a melee pet would be nice but it a ghostly character.

Sounds like the Lore incarnate slot is what you're looking for.

I would suggest dark as a secondary rather than sonic. You'll still be positioning yourself fairly close to some of the melee characters, but you'll get the added shadow fall for translucenty goodness and fearsome stare for ghostly scariness.

Thats sort of what I am doing with my Sonic/Dark. Sonic does not hit a lot though. It seems to really need a lot of accuracy so be warned about the attacks. Sonic/Sonic might make things better because of the debuff you get first with sonic res. But Sonic it's self is a slow starter. Or is for me.

To say that "Sonic does not hit a lot though" is perplexing to me.

The attacks have a base accuracy of 1, except Sirens Song and Shockwave (both .9). I don't imagine one would base their assessment of Sonic's accuracy on those 2 powers. Then it has Amplify (Aim). Maybe if you're used to Arch (1.15 Acc) or Rad (1.1 + Def debuffs) then Sonic may seem less accurate, but overall, it's not.

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

The Sonic/Sonic above is already 50 so not new, thanks for feedback so far. Going by it I might leave the slotting and power choices as is for now. Give it a few more days for more opinions and then respec her into it.

I find Sonic Resonance very very challenging to slot. In any case, here is an offshoot of your build with capped Ranged defense wwhen hovering, and decent-ish Recharge. I would definitely cap Ranged before AoE. This build assumes you will be using Cardiac alphas.

You could throw an Achille's heel proc in Liquefy. I like a devastation proc in the first tier sonic attack, too for a little extra hold kick. I like thunderstrikes better than ruin, but I know ruin is cheaper. Sonic Cage has some decent uses in the late game, for instance the pylons around Lord Recluse in the Statesman TF.

I am not sure, having run out of villain content how much soloing I would need to do, I have controls as well so that's why I went with AoE def. Team mates of higher threat with me in close proximity would lead to aoe. Plus given priority of play I didn't want to spend too much.

I am still a baddie so the pylons on the STF are a long way off but what interests me is the Acc/Mez which increases the magnitude of the (Edit: ) Sonic Cage. Is an increased magnitude a useful asset? I can easily do that and make it perma.

The res debuff in liquefy is something I am considering now that, just like in Texs' build I can just as well go with 4 slots of DW in liquefy. Slightly less tohit debuff but with its other sec effects prolly not a prob.

Shockwave and Shout do -res and each additional -res improves peoples attack chain results. I tried to see if the first two blasts self stack but they didn't seem to, perhaps with plenty of rechg am not sure.

Cardiacs a clear win for now.

I was tempted by Fight pool but the whole Ghost thing (which is in the name) kind of compels me to take concealment. It is alright for having people and me easily passing mobs on speed runs. Phase is a nice panic button but being already dead with the soul transfer being killed wont matter, nothing to worry about xp wise at 50.

So thanks, for the further comments after my last reply, from each of you I have made changes.

To help with your 'ghost' idea put a stealth proc in one of the prestige sprints then hover everywhere with it on. Looks neat.

Enjoy your day please.

I just bought one for 40 million, total cost of build so far is looking like 110 million.

Well when I think of ghosts i personally think of something that is damn near impossible to hurt. In the real world lore of such things ghosts tend to be intangible for the most part.

Now carrying that over into CoH may be a bit challenging but I think there are two ways you can go about it. First, you can try to get your defense to the softcap. It's a popular tactic and usually works well but the new incarnate content is having a field day with defense toons right now. Besides I think option two is better given your choices of powers.

Try to cap your resistances. This is very doable with /Sonic and you can even get fairly close to the soft cap for Ranged defense as well.

This combination of decent defense with capped resistances (all self buffed) would make for a very hard to kill toon. After that it's all gravy. I've not played much with the sonic primary but I've seen it do some amazing damage particularly once scourge kicks in.

Thing to note - getting yourself near soft capped for range defense and capped resists will necessitate taking the fighting pool and possibly leadership.

Crumbs Moonlit. Bit of thread necromancy there. She long been respeced and finished now. I did consider the things you said prior and would consider that for soloing maybe as it means skipping other cool powers. Part of my thing with ghosts is not that their unkillable but they can disappear and comeback. I don't die but I can be defeated.
