What new little things you keep discovering in CoX after all this time?

My last discover was a pleasant surprise.
I created a new alt. A Martial arts/ Fire aura scrapper, a female ninja with fire phoenix powers (Rise of the phoenix makes total sense for the concept) I thought it would be a fun combo because is unusual.
(Blaze mastery and Pyronic judgment there we go!)
Then I found that the defensive toogles totally covers my character with a not so pretty fire... I always care too much for the look of my character, Im a bit obsesive. Then, in the power custom screen I discovered a "Flames option" where the ugly fire turns into nice flames that surround my character.
I had no idea! Electric or dark armor doesnt have a different FX for the toogles.
Was nice to discover this. Even if it was added back in I16...
Do you guys found something new lately in your game experience?

Dark Armor actually does have a "no pulsing" option on some of its toggles.

Yeah the hero version sucked when compared to the villain version. Know all my fire shield toons use the villain version of it.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Didnt had any fire aura characters before.
Didnt knew fire was the default fx for blue side archetypes and flames the default fx for red side archetypes...
Interesting!

Running a low level mission against PPD the other night I noticed that undercover PPD have a new set of single pistol attacks, rather than the MM dual pistols they used to have. Not sure when that changed, it's been a while.

I discovered I could go side to side with the 'A' and 'D' buttons after noy quite 4 years.

In all honesty I think I discover that like once a year and promptly forget about it.

Enjoy your day please.

Hey Banshee, didja know you can go side to side with A and D?

I discovered how fun warshades are. I discovered new raiding tactics for hamidon, and I discovered how much fun playing the market is.

Thank you for quoting my sig. !

I recently remembered (after 4 years) that you could re-color all the UI menus. Being a man completely obsessed with customization, I promptly signed in to ALL my characters and changed their UI color to match their themes. Makes things so much cooler, if you ask me.

I found out that there's a waterfall in the "Reclaim Cimerora" mission of the ITF. I also found out (and saw for the first time) that there's a control room for the computer that controls the turrets in the Vespillo Pass mission.

You can recolour your UI menus? Had no idea about that either.

Love this thread already. Please teach me more.

Finding neat little places to film in-game, or NPCs doing emotes that I can use for stuff.

My latest personal favorite was zooming around north of Talos and finding an island with a little swim-into-it cave with a stone 'staircase' leading up to the top of the island, like its own little pirate cave.

And since when have there been 'hussies' and 'tarts' in Port Oakes catcalling you from balconies?

After four years I've found I'm still enjoying this game - color me surprised!

You can email stuff to yourself by using the @ and your global name. I had been away for a year. Didn't even think to check. Wowzers.

Oooh, I didn't know this either. My Broadsword/Fire scrapper underwent a makeover last night.

Using the new Wisp Aura as a combat aura also gives an excellent look to Fire Shield now too.

I just wish there was a better look for Blazing Aura (the damage toggle). Still can't get that looking decent.

In a Cim map, in a big room, I found a bridge that spanned a body of water that you could actually submerge in and swim under the bridge, and fight underwater if you pull baddies under there.

After 100 or so Apexes, I noticed that I can, with my tank, time it so I can be in melee range to Battle Maiden until the blue flames hit, cue up Seismic Smash and it's long animation, and move out of melee range and still have it hit... so essentially, I can hit her with my best melee attack while I am well out of range of her blue patch.

Capped ranged defense on a ranged squishy is well worth the cost and time investment.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You can do that with any attack, and I pretty much always do it so that my next target will be in range of the next attack I want to use, by the time my current attack finishes animating (and my previous target is finished getting deaded). Just let the momentum carry you, jumping makes it easier. I also do this when buffing, especially on my kin.

Marrying Bio Plasma fist aura with Kinetic Melee with the same colors is making me so very happy. I'm interested in that Powerset all over again soley because of this look.

Speaking of Fiery Aura, Blazing Aura always made my eyes hurt. But when I chose Dark Flames and colored it grey and black, it now looks like smoke puffing out of my character and doesn't hurt my eyes, either!

Mark me down as another people who didn't realize there were two different sets of animations for Fiery Aura... even though I've used both.

I have a few that didn't just happen, but they did happen several years into playing the game, so I think they qualify: It was only maybe a year or so ago that I realized that other than your last server used being on top, the servers screen was sorted by load from least to most. How I never noticed that I'll never know.

It was also only in the last year or so that I noticed the weird market access offered by Shady Cage in Port Oakes.

Every once in a while I like to just hop around the game, looking for places that I never really noticed before. It's still one of my favorite things to do.

Yep, that's the best I've managed with it too, colouring dark flames as red and grey to get a sooty, dark, dark red effect.

So at least it doesn't blind me with bloom now with every puff.

I'm still finding individual little details of the world that surprise me occasionally...

A really big mushroom beside some rocks in the northern hills in Croatoa, the rowboat under the dock in Port Oakes that you can get in, one beach on an island north of Grandville that has a collection of starfish on it that are different from all the others, another beach on a neighboring island with an abandoned boat on it, some of the graffiti in Saint Martial, a place with a perpetual swirl of leaves in Perez... That kind of thing. 'Just little environmental oddities that you could pass a hundred times without noticing.

Yesterday, I found out that Necromancy henchmen powers can be customized, I assume since the introduction of Power Customization. And I always thought it was just the summon effect we could change, not the effects of the henchmen powers, but I'm pleasantly surprised to have been wrong all along.
