Wait...you didn't recognize Michael J. Fox? Even without seeing Back to the Future (which if you haven't seen that, you MUST...favorite all time movie)...I always thought he was one of the more respected and well known actors...also, I added more onto my list you should see
  2. Galaxy Quest

    Grimlins 1 & 2

    The Crow

    Clerks

    Mall Rats

    Chasing Amy

    Dogma

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

    Clerks II

Ok...some of those get more recent, but they are all part of the set.

    Alignment Trials

Just thought of this as an idea for the game to supplement the LFG/Trial system as well as the morality/alignment system.

Setup several alignment-based trials. Have several sets for each alignment (Hero, Vigilante, Rogue, Villain). One that is 4-8 players, one that is 8-16 players, and another that is 12-24 players. Then have one set of them at level 20, level 35, and level 50. My thinking is so people have options of having the huge raids that we have with the larger incarnate trials now, but also have an option with going with a smaller team, and they can do these throughout the game, and not just at the end.

The smaller trials give you like 2-5 fame points. The largest one gives you the option to jump to the alignment of the specified trial. These points are in addition to the points you get from tip missions, as in just because you get points from these trials, you can still get the 5 a day from the tips. If you're of the alignment already you can get alignment merits or the 30 reward merits (whatever you normally get for reaffirming your alignment).

Obviously there will have to be a 1-a-day timer that you can only get the fame points or alignment bump once a day so that you don't have people jumping back and forth every few hours or something. Also limitations that only heroes, rogues, and vigilantes can run the hero, heroes and vigilantes can run the vigilante, etc.

This could get a new way to expand the alignment system, and also provide the more villainous/grey area trials that some people have been asking for, as well as build on the existing systems we already have. Since they are trials, you can have them be more villainous or heroic for the alignment, and still have a decent non-incarnate reward for the players.

Granted, my suggestion says 36 trials (4 alignments, 3 trial sizes, and 3 levels) but that would be my ideal set for variety and to try and cater to people's desires, but it would also be a LOT of work for the devs to come up with 36 different stories for them. Maybe use scaling critters for the whole range and have them set the appropriate ranges for some trials...which would cut it down to 12? Was just a thought. All of this is open to suggestions and input, but thought it could be a cool addition utilizing systems that were already in the game.
  4. Started off with pyronic and it worked great, but recently switched to vorpal cause it fit better with my character's concept and have been very happy with it. Its not as flashy as the other powers, and is different in how you use it, but once you get it down, it works GREAT. Its basically a huge PBAOE but only in an arc in the direction you're facing. Playing around on the towers at the end of an ITF, it took out a whole line across one wall of the towers from the middle of it in one shot. Its quick, effective and I love it.

These are good arguments about it. I didn't think about the issue of being mezzed dropping the toggle, or kheldians, which could be an issue for the buff pets. Granted the buff pets don't do much, but they do do something. Maybe they need to separate out the buff pets from the vanity pets. Make the buffs summons like they were before, and keep the vanity pets limited to one.
  6. No, sorry.

Its one of the limitations they've put in to help prevent bots from just standing in one place and racking up points. Only one auto-fire power is allowed.
  7. I believe its separate for each proc, since on other interface powers, the percentages add up to more than 100%: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Interface_Slot_Abilities

75 times of 100 you'll get the DoT. 25 times you'll get the debuff. Sometimes neither. Sometimes both.
  8. Because you can use them else-where outside of the trial. You can't use threads in the trial (or at least can't switch to anything you use them for while in a trial) but they still drop. Would anyone really stop in the middle of a trial and craft a recipe of any kind or rearrange your enhancements anyways, but all of those still drop.

Persoally I was OK with the last setup. I'm sure this will have all kinds of DOOM crying associated with it.

Question....has someone actually confirmed that this is the behavior in the actual game, or just interpreted the patch notes that way assuming their interpretation that ONLY morality missions confirm the alignment now? It says

    Quote:
Players must now be confirmed as Heroes or Villains (i.e., their most recent Morality Mission confirmed their alignment) in order to claim Alignment Merits as rewards from Signature Story Arcs
i.e. is usually used to give an example, not the exclusive only way for something. Maybe characters are confirmed heroes and villains as soon as they select their alignment during the tutorial or transfer from praetoria and select hero or villain there (after all the little animation with the icon for alignment change pops up when you do them)

My point...has someone confirmed that this actually is what happens now, or is everyone getting all bent out of shape for a misinterpretation of patch notes.
  11. There used to be the 30 day license for the MA in beta (I think) but it was ultimately decided to remove it.

Currently you need to have Tier 4 of the Paragon Rewards program in order to earn rewards from the MA.

    The future sets

They've already said that they have something in the works for Dominators...what exactly it is we don't know yet but the suspicions are that its a new power-set or two since they were left out of the last round of proliferation. Be patient.

The problem with new travel powers is that unless the animations are very similar to the current ones, which it doesn't sound like what you want, is it would require all new animation transitions for them, or for the power to disable all other powers, like the rocket board, also not too useful. A plane or car transformation would basically be fly or super speed, but with a ton of extra work to figure out the logistics of how the other hundreds powers will work with them and doing that. Sure it might look cool, but functionally it wouldn't add anything to the game except taking time away from doing other things that could add more to the game, for a limited amount of concepts.

Then there comes the argument about how they should look, which plane or car to use. Power customization could come into play here, but they already have issues swapping character models for power customization (would be the same issue they have with kheldians and stone armor now) so new tech work and a ton of animation work all to get players that is essentially the same as what they already have, just with a different look.

The Ironman-like mechanized armor/suit can be handled via costume changes pretty easily.

New god-like ATs present a problem of balance. If an AT can do anything, then everyone will play that and only that. Chances are we'll never get that because balancing it will either nerf out the powers you want or make someone WAY too overpowered, and arguably we're already overpowered for some things in the game.

I could see them take the power-sets and instead of tying everything to an element basically make the power-set have a specific secondary effect of the specific powers, but then open the power customization WAY up. Keep the power effects and allow players to change the powers in, for example, electric blast, to look like a fireball instead, or radiation blast, or whatever, and keep the power effects. Blast sets are pretty standardized and I think it could be done there. Other sets might have issues, but anything is possible, just somethings might take more time.

As far as cosmic powers like you're describing, much of it can be handled with the current power customization. Simply choose the secondary effect you want your powers to have, find a power-set that handles that most closely, and customize your powers to look how you want. Granted its not perfect, and some imagination might have to take place on your part, but a lot can be handled now currently in the game.

They've already said that they want to proliferate as many of the power-sets and concepts for powers as they can between all the ATs. All of this requires work and time. Its a lot quicker to port existing powers over than it is to create new ones. If there is a specific set you want on an AT, let it be known, but realize it will be a few months most likely before it comes out. The devs have indicated that their schedule is packed for the near future with other things so the closer to existing sets a power-set is, the more likely it will take less work and come out sooner.
  13. There seems to be a misunderstanding about the PPP/APPs.

Every one of the base 10 AT gets access to Ancillary Power Pools after (IIRC) lvl 35 now. Regardless of alignment. Now that any AT can start hero or villain, that really doesn't matter in that regard anymore.

There are also Patron power pools that get unlocked by some level 40ish arcs run on the villain side. You have to be a villain or rogue to run them. After you run the arc you get access to them.

Epic ATs are a bit different...VEATS get only the patron pools if they unlock. HEATS don't get either (again, going from memory so could be wrong), but your concern is with a mastermind so.

There isn't any trick other than that. You just have to run one arc to get access to the patron pools. If you don't want to do them you have the ancillary pools. If you do want access to the patron pools, then you've gotta run one of the patron arcs. Its that simple.

The story behind the patron pools are that you have earned the favor of the patrons by doing stuff for them, so they give you access to their powers. Villains never, ever got access to them without running the arc. Just with Going Rogue (issue 18) allowing side switching did they open up the non-patron pools for villains to create parity. Even before that, you could only have access to the specific pool for the patron you ran the arc for, then they opened it up to all with just running one arc. At this point in the game, it doesn't matter what you started out as, as long as you are a villain/rogue at some point and do their arc. After that you have access forever. Other than you have to be a villain/rogue to get the arc to begin with, it has nothing to do with alignment.
  14. Galaxy City IS the new tutorial for all primals, both heroes and villains (you get to choose your side during it so any of the non-epic ATs can be hero or villain after it). Praetorians still have the GR tutorial though. Its not very long, only a few things, but its pretty cool if you haven't seen it before. A big improvement over the old primal tutorials, in my opinion.

Basically its been destroyed by a Shivan invasion. The tutorial is you being involved with that. You can still access the old Galaxy City via Ouroborus for badges and a few other things, but basically, Galaxy as you knew it is gone for the foreseeable future.

    Paragon Rewards

My start date on NCSoft.com is July 31, 2005. So In my calculations that's 73 months (74 on the 31 of this month) of vet rewards. As of September first I was able to unlock all but 1 of the tier 8 rewards, 32 tokens (waiting for servers to come back up to verify that - it's been a week since I played). The only reason I'm asking this is it seems a couple people have mentioned having tier 9 unlocked but seem to have less time in than me. Either they bought points and didn't mention that or my tokens are wrong, or their tokens are wrong.

So how many tokens should a 73 month vet who has never unsubscribed and has bought all the boxes except the very first collector's edition have?
Also info available on the Paragon Rewards page on the wiki. In the Converting from Veteran Rewards Program section near the top.

You get 1 token for each vet reward badge you've gotten.
You get 1 more token for each full year's worth of vet reward badges.
If you have any box's code applied you get one more token.

Note on the boxes you don't get one for each box, you get one total if you have any boxes applied. If you only have Good vs Evil you get 1. If you have them all you still only get 1.

From this point forward you get

    1 token per month
    1 token per full year
1 token for every 1200 points you purchase from the store...roughly $15 give or take once you factor in bonus points. If your point purchase comes with some bonus points, those bonus points do count to your total points and to your next reward token. The 400 (or 550 if you're T8) points you get from just being a VIP every month do NOT count toward this.

If you're a 73 month vet and have a box, according to the wiki page you should have 32 tokens to start off with, which should get you through all but 2 of the Tier 8 slots. In 2 months, or if you purchase 2400 paragon points from the market, you'll be able to fill in the rest of Tier 8 and after that you'll be able to start filling in the Tier 9 VIP slots and/or claiming some of the repeatable rewards.
  16. True, but you're much more likely decide to do that if you can see what you can buy with those points than just to decide to randomly go add 400 pts on a whim.
  17. Not at the moment. Posi has said in UStream that its on the list of things they want to do, so hopefully soon...and I'd imagine its something that'll actually be done since it involves new ways for players to give the game money.
  18. Is there no way for them to make it a player defined setting under forum options or something?
  19. First, RELAX AND BREATHE, the servers are still down doing their patching to get issue 21 up and going, so relax, you're not missing anything. That may be part of the issue to begin with (the servers being down), though I'm not the best at the technical stuff. Remember, its new issue launch day, and its a big one. I would expect there to be a few hiccups all over the place.

Next, try re-posting your question in one or both of the following sections:

    Mac Users

    Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs

These sections of the forums are usually where the more technically inclined players watch and give advice. They are usually very good at helping to sort out problems. Just be patient and polite and they'll do their best to get you going!

    Facts on MARTy

Its important to note that this sounds like it isn't going to be reliably testable in the MA, which from what I could read of the original thread people kept trying to do:
    Quote:

You are correct, that does not sound accurate. Did you receive messaging stating as such?

Additionally I passed along the other thread you linked to and we're checking the logs you reported in your other post. Per how the system works, you wouldn't even see the messaging you did see because you wouldn't have a ticket drop in the first place. You simply wouldn't receive a reward.

The messaging you're seeing is tied to the MA Reward cap, not MARTy.
This indicates that there is a whole separate governor for the MA that kicks in before MARTy does, which I remember them implementing a couple issues ago when MA farming was really bad, but am fuzzy on the details of that for now.

The examples that Z gave us were like one-shotting Perez Park or all of the LRSF AVs would set off the throttle, which indicates that if you're doing something that racks up that many rewards that quickly, then you know you're something wrong.

It sounds like it analyzes only some rewards from mob kills are what could be throttled, and inf from the auction house, gifts, trades, etc, and I would imagine large arc rewards, aren't included in this so that should't be a factor.

They've also said they aren't going to release the specifics on when the throttle kicks in which is perfectly acceptable to me. If they did, it would lead to people trying to game MARTy, which would screw with the results they do get.

Everything Z has said is that this is as much a way for them to find possible bugs and exploits as it is for enforcing limits, so that they can analyse reward information more reliably using real data, and stop exploiters from getting too much too fast.

They've said they are monitoring the thing and has been on beta for a while, so it has had some testing internally through beta and they feel it works well enough to put it live. He's also said that if you find that you hit the throttle mark doing something that isn't exploiting and should be normal in the game to /bug it and report it so they can look into it. Especially as we get more powerful incarnate powers and enhancement boosters it will be possible to legitimately earn rewards faster.

Basically play like you've always played. If you see it kick in and you feel its been unfairly hit, /bug it.
  21. On the other hand, the servers are still scheduled to be down for another 5-6 hours (at 11:30 eastern). As long as the download is finished by then, why the rush?
  22. I get the animation argument for walk, however I'm not sure how it applies to the rocket-board.

If the rocket-board animations are based off of the power slide animations, that have been in the game forever, and able to use with other power animations just fine...why is it unreasonable to just use the same animations that you would use with the power slide with the rocket board?

I don't think anyone on these forums falls into the can't afford the $2/month category simply because they are currently paying $15.

I think people are just expressing concern for the future where players may bounce between subscribed and/or paying for the license and going FTP due to circumstances that may be similar to what Claws was describing, and suggesting ways for them 'make do' that is seems more fair than just saying that they either have to delete that character to make a new one in some of their few slots (remember even Premium players will have a more limited number of slots), throw away IOs they may have worked hard for in game, or struggle to play a character that is missing vital enhancements, or wait until they can afford the $2. Some of us would rather those people still be able to play somewhat effectively and have fun in the game than be hindered by their lack of money.
