Paragon Rewards

Hello, Everyone!

I know that this system replaced the Veteran Rewards program, and I've read everything I could find from the Forums to Paragonwiki, but I'm still puzzled by a few things. I wasn't able to participate in the Beta, and so, I thought I'd ask my questions here.

First, let's talk about the Reward Chart. I have most of mine filled up, and I can mouse over each marker and see what it gives me. I don't fully understand all items yet, but that's ok. I can also see that mousing along the right edge shows me the bonuses for filling all the markers for a Tier.

It also seems to me that these rewards are either automatic, or they can be selected from my email. Correct?

Now comes my primary problem. I have two markers filed in already for Tier-8, and I have the five markers for Tier-9 highlighted with spinning dics around them. At the top of the screen, I am informed that I have six (6) unused reward points.

Are the markers in the Tier-9 catagory highlighted because it is possible for me to choose them? Is it for another reason? Must I selected all of the markers in the Tier-8 catagory before I can select any of the Tier-9? If I take one Tier-9, can I go back and pick any of the Tier-8's or am I locked out of those?

Do the costume sets only become available when I have selected all of the Tier-9 markers? And what do all of the up-arrows mean going from the bottom Tiers to the top, or maybe they don't have any meaning?

The email system seems to indicate that Character selections are single use only on one character. Is that correct?

The Account based selections seem reuseable on multiple characters. Is that so, and can I use them immediately, or do they re-generate each month?

Thanks for all your great help in advance!

My understanding is that you must fill in one tier before you advance to the next - so when you fill in Tier 8, you'll be able to select tier 9.

The tier 9 spinny-disk things are rewards that can be claimed multiple times (eg, temporary power charges, enhancement boosters, etc).

The very top is also Tier 9, but is for VIPs only, and allows you to unlock the Celestial costume pieces.

"Character items" apply to one character - however, not all of the items have to go to one character, so if you choose to claim "Enhancement boosters", you get 25 certificates, each of which confers a single enhancement booster - you can take all 25 on one character, or give one each to 25 characters, save them for later, or some combination of the above.

Just note that the "Signature Summon" only grants a single certificate, but that certificate grants 5 charges of the power.

The "highlights" on the T9 options indicates that they're repeatable rewards (i.e. You can claim them more than once), but you still need to fill a given Tier before you can move up to the next one.

All Paragon Rewards are available to all your characters, whether they are Account bound or Character bound (unlike some other types of reward/unlock) so it's a bit misleading. Once you claim any reward on a character, you can't claim it again (unless it's a repeatable T9 that you use another Reward point on).

Heya!

If you've got an issue with any of the items, or want to get a pre-'buy' look at them, Paragon Wiki has a list that explains what all the rewards in each tier do for your character/account. http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Paragon_Rewards

Yes, the rewards are either auto, or are picked from your various email in-boxes (either Account-wide or Character-wide).

And yes, you do need to completely fill out Tier 8 before being allowed to move on to Tier 9, though with the number of tokens you've said you have left, you should still be able to get some of the Tier 9 or Tier 9 VIP rewards.

For the costume sets in Tier 9 VIP, each of the three unlocks gives you a specific package from the Celestial set. One is Head and Upper Body items, one is Lower Body and Back Details, and the last one is Weapon Skins and Auras. To have the entire Celestial set, you'd need all select all three VIP rewards.

The arrows I'm not sure about. I think they just indicate that you are moving up the Rewards Tree, but they could do something else I don't know about.

The Character-Only e-mail selections should have a number located in the main body of the reward message, which tells you how many times you can claim that specific power. For example, I have Windfall, and I can claim it 5 times. I can get it once on 5 different characters, or 5 times all on one character, or any other combo I happen to want.

The Account-based selections are always there for each and every character you have, and ever will make. They're useable immediately once claimed (well, within in-game limitations. Can't change costumes without being at Icon/Trainer/etc.) and are permanent additions to that character that can't be used up (well, aside from the CC Tokens and Respecs).

Hope this has helped some!

Thank you for the very informative replies.

I felt that you had to take all of one Tier before moving to the next. I just wanted to be sure since I only have 6 points to spend. That was also why I asked about the up-arrows. It gives the impression that the markers advance to the one above them. I was wondering if they tied together in some way I couldn't see.

Its also useful to know that the Tier-9 markers can be re-selected. That wasn't obvious from the chart.

So, the Character email items are deducted as you claim them until the quantity listed is gone. Got that.

Are you saying that the Account email items are always there, and are never used up? In that case, you can just keep taking them on as many characters as you please. Is that correct?

Thanks again!

They are there for each character on your account but can only be claimed once per character.

One more question. Must you pick all of the Tier-9 rewards before you can select any of the VIP costume sets?

No. I grabbed the signature summon and then the 3 costume tokens. Then went back and got other Tier 9 rewards.

And I don't intend to get any of the consumable Tier 9 rewards, unless it takes longer than three months for each rotation of the Tier 9 VIP rewards. That way, I can save up and get the entire costume set at once when the new sets rotate in.

So, no, you don't need to buy any of the Tier 9 rewards in order to get the Tier 9 VIP rewards.

Hello again!

I've applied the balance of my reward points, and thought I'd pass along some comments for those that were following this thread.

Each of the markers has a circle or disk that turns light green when it becomes a valid choice for applying your reward points. So, when I picked the balance of the Tier-8 line, all of the Tier-9 markers then became valid choices. That included the three costume markers.

As stated, I was then able to select any of the costume slots without taking any Tier-9 items.

It certainly would be useful if there was a "help" pop-up that detailed the process. In the mean time, we have this wonderful community for help.

Thanks again for all your great comments!

Yea, Tier 9 is really two tiers, regular and VIP. If you subscribe you can slot the VIP Tier 9 as well as the regular Tier 9 (FROM OUTER SPACE).

Sorry, had to be said.

Okay question and I feel dumb asking as a long time vet but it's just not sinking in for some reason. How many Reward Tokens should I have?
My start date on NCSoft.com is July 31, 2005. So In my calculations that's 73 months (74 on the 31 of this month) of vet rewards. As of September first I was able to unlock all but 1 of the tier 8 rewards, 32 tokens (waiting for servers to come back up to verify that - it's been a week since I played). The only reason I'm asking this is it seems a couple people have mentioned having tier 9 unlocked but seem to have less time in than me. Either they bought points and didn't mention that or my tokens are wrong, or their tokens are wrong.

So how many tokens should a 73 month vet who has never unsubscribed and has bought all the boxes except the very first collector's edition have?

Also info available on the Paragon Rewards page on the wiki. In the Converting from Veteran Rewards Program section near the top.

You get 1 token for each vet reward badge you've gotten.
You get 1 more token for each full year's worth of vet reward badges.
If you have any box's code applied you get one more token.

Note on the boxes you don't get one for each box, you get one total if you have any boxes applied. If you only have Good vs Evil you get 1. If you have them all you still only get 1.

From this point forward you get

1 token per month
1 token per full year
1 token for every 1200 points you purchase from the store...roughly $15 give or take once you factor in bonus points. If your point purchase comes with some bonus points, those bonus points do count to your total points and to your next reward token. The 400 (or 550 if you're T8) points you get from just being a VIP every month do NOT count toward this.

If you're a 73 month vet and have a box, according to the wiki page you should have 32 tokens to start off with, which should get you through all but 2 of the Tier 8 slots. In 2 months, or if you purchase 2400 paragon points from the market, you'll be able to fill in the rest of Tier 8 and after that you'll be able to start filling in the Tier 9 VIP slots and/or claiming some of the repeatable rewards.

No, there is also the Experienced power (half level of patrol XP x5) in Account items.

Both are Tier 9 - the "Tier 9 VIP" mearly references the fact that you must currently be VIP to select those particular rewards.

So... only one character on my account can get the celestial costume pieces?

I'm a seven year vet, but must admit the Paragon Rewards system has been flummoxing my ol' grey matter. I had seven tokens when I21 went live, and have only spent one of them so far (the /vault command was an instant must-buy for me). So, this thread has cleared up a lot of details for me, and I'd like to thank everybody who has posted a reply to the original poster.

I'm still a little confused as to the consumables in the Tier 9 VIP level.

1. If I burn a token in a Tier 9 VIP slot, the costume pieces for that slot are unlocked for all characters, account-wide. Is that correct?

2. If that is correct, are the pieces automatically available in the character creator, or do they need to be claimed in-game first?

3. And, when the Tier 9 VIP slots are rotated to new rewards, I still have the pieces that I unlocked already available through the character creator?

Thanks in advance.

1. Correct.
2. In character creator AFAIK. I've seen people in the tutorial with Celestial pieces on.
3. Correct. They are permanently unlocked.
