Also, Alt-itis is very common here. With Supersidekicking System, and AT overlap, players tend to have a wide variety of characters available for any particular task.
Defenders can have radically different playstyles based on primary and secondary powerset selection.
I think Westley said...
"I have heals. I heal to defend the team. I am not a healer.
I have blasts. I blast to defend the team. I am not a blaster.
I have buffs, I buff to defend the team. I am not a buffbot.
I am a defender."
I suggest you make a new character, a scrapper or blaster, and have some fun with that. Play the game at your own pace, form your own team, do your own missions, and experience the story and mythology of this amazing place.
"There is no end-game. It is all game." -
Lack of challenge endgame?
Sometimes it's fun to flip out and mow down legions of enemies. Not much challenge in that, and you get a nice payout.
However, if you want challenge, you can certainly find it. Few people run farming missions against Malta, Carnival of Shadows, or Vanguard, with good reasons!
Check out how the new difficulty settings work.
Hamidon Raid
Eden Trial
Abandoned Sewer Trial
Statesman's Task Force
Master of Statesman's Task Force
Doctor Khan Task Force
Once these become routine, you can adjust the challenge settings to make enemies tougher, or your team less powerful.
And the Mission Architect holds thousands of missions, some of which are very difficult.
And you can always make your own.
Also, using Ouroboros, you can do older mission arcs with some or many very difficult challenge settings in place.
I'm actually a little worried. On your rush to 50, which may or may not have been intentional, you've missed a lot of the fun of the stories of the city. Ouroboros allows you to see those again.
I'd recommend the Faultline and Croatoa arcs for that.
Welcome to the game. I'm sorry that your early experiences were underwhelming, but this community can be welcoming, and challenge is certainly available for those that want it. Expect negativity to be returned sevenfold, and friendly curiosity to be greatly rewarded. -
Yeah, I'd love to buy Boosters for my friends. May have to settle on a 30 day time card (approx $15) or perhaps an edition they don't have ($20, usually some goodies, and 30 days more, one edition per account).
-
Hmm, two task forces, one where you defend your base from NPC attackers, and one where you attack another base crewed by NPC defenders.
Villain version, hero version, maybe a few tiers with larger bases, tougher defenses and enemies...
Timed, like most trials. Sounds good to me! -
Thirded and Fourthed.
Help her do what she wants to do, how she wants to do it.
Don't flood her with info.
I salute you for a noble effort, and envy your luck. -
Regen has Quick Recovery at level 4.
Regen isn't more or less effective based on damage type or area/melee/ranged. It simply heals it back.
-Regen opponents in PVE are uncommon.
It's mostly simple. Passives (always on), toggles (keep 'em on) and press these buttons to heal fast!
+Recharge helps everyone's DPS, but for regen with 3 click-heals, it helps their survivability too.
Wolverine is cool (VVulfer33n is not).
Also, it's the action-hero power. Get the stuffing kicked out of you, and keep on coming back. -
First number: "East is Least, West is Best!"
Second number: Up down.
Third Number: "North is negative!"
Yup, threw me for a loop too. But that's how it is. -
Keep a paper record of every serial code you apply to your account, including the original, if you still have it. For the booster packs and such, they do give you the full code in the email they send you. Print it and keep it.

If you've been away for a while, and haven't seen Warshades, then you've been gone a mighty long time.
A lot has changed. A whole lot.
Check www.paragonwiki.com and search for the "Issues" page. That will summarize the updates.
A LOT!
SuperSidekicking is an excellent feature.
Welcome back!
This is a great place to ask any specific questions. The forum regulars tend to compete as to who can answer your question first.
EDIT ADDED:
The Kheldians and Soldiers both offer the build challenge of specialization versus generalization. They both have build options which either limit or restrict the utility of other powers.
Soldiers must choose a path at 24 which completely removes the ability to take powers from the other path. Dual builds (great feature!) gets around this somewhat.
Kheldians can take 2 alternate forms, which have their own array of powers, but cannot use any other powers in that form.
They both have exclusive story arcs and contacts. Non Kheldians/Soldiers can participate in your missions, but they can't get the contacts.
Only Kheldians have specific enemies that show up in their missions that are very dangerous to them. Kheldians can also spawn "Cysts" in large teams, which can be dangerous for everyone.
In my opinion, neither are "uber." Also in my opinion, Kheldians are slightly harder to use effectively than the average hero. Soliders of Arachnos tend to be great force multipliers, but can still solo reasonably well. -
We'll be running the Cavern of Transcendence, starting at 9:30am Eastern, 7:30am Mountain, on Saturday November 21st. Level 10 minimum, capped at 15, so you should have level 20 powers...
Sign up below!
1) Doc Radiation (rad/rad Defender) -
One of my friends started a villain group called "The Crazy Eights". All missions must be run on x8. From level 1.
The thought makes me cringe. But I may try it out! -
Welcome to the game!
If your Magic booster was successfully applied to your account, you should have "Mystic Fortune" power in list of Inherent or Temporary Powers (I forget which). It may not be automatically put onto your power trays.
If you log into your PlayNC master account, and your COH account, it should show that the superbooster was applied.
I don't recall the specific names of the extra costumes granted by the Magic pack, but they should show in the character creator under "pre-sets". -
The challenge of most task forces, other than time, is typically the AV at the end. So, a AV-killer or AV-debuffer is useful.
I don't have a lot of experience with defenders or controllers, but I think a rad or dark would be good. -
Walk was added to placate players recently transferred from other MMOs who found the travel powers like Sprint "disorientatingly quick" and "nauseating" and "hard to control".
-
I'll be bringing four, count 'em FOUR! supergroup members for this Sunday November 8th.
(That should hold those Rikti bastages!)
Other folks welcome! -
Quote:I think Group Fly has a large -ACC component.Oh trust me, if I was looking for WoW I'd be there. Yuck. I just really enjoy my MM and am looking for ways to continue playing with him and develop the character. I don't really need raids but more or less exactly that - ways to improve. I wanna look into the Vanguard and task force merit stuff and see if that helps. I'm also dabbling in a Villain Group now that I'm done levelling and helping lowbies out lots.
Some great advice here. I took GW for more control. I use group flying to keep my minions in range of my enemies. Leadership would be a smart idea though to buff them some more. I use tar patch every chance I can get but have never tried teleport. Maybe I should use that alternate build I have? :P
Seconded for getting all the accolade powers. They work at any level once you've got them. -
Fourspeed is correct. This works.
Patience pays a dividend.
Best part, in my opinion, is that there is no risk. No fee for putting up or withdrawing a bid.
There are ways to make more money, but they tend to involve more risk. -
Given their higher populations, Virtue and Freedom should be easier to get teams together.
Although, I have little trouble getting a TF/SF team together on Victory. I just ride on Burner24's coat tails! -
Adding the MA. Despite the early exploitation, it is a great tool for players to tell their stories.
And, with costume/power/weapon customization, we have increasing ways to make it our game.
Emphasis on Fast Fun.
Making Grind non-obligatory.
/e Brings Magic Pumpkin Buckle. -
Quote:100% Agree.This.
Many players returning from a long absence (per your post, from back when the game first came out) can benefit from just starting fresh to get a handle on the various mechanics of the game.
And since we have so many slots available, don't immediately delete your old characters - they may not be as messed up as you think they are. Or at least, after relearning the mechanics of the game with your alts, you will have a better idea of what you want to change.
You can try out respec on the test server to make sure it does what you want, without using it up.
Also, look up multiple builds.
And, check out www.paragonwiki.com for a tonne of info. Be sure to check out Enhancement Diversification. It's a major change on how enhancements work in powers. -
To clarify, are you on a trial now? Do you have the annoying popup, and cannot use broadcast, send private messages?
Okay the box you bought should contain both trial codes and full codes. The trial codes are probably marked as such, and the real serial code should be on the back of the Pocket D VIP membership card.
Was your box previously opened? The only real valuable thing in the box is the serial code, as the entire game can be downloaded for free by anyone. Someone may have opened the box, snagged the serial code, and then sold the box to you.
The other code you have, with the AT explanations, try putting that code into your PlayNC master account. If it's a trial code, it should be marked as such.
Go through all the stuff in the box one more time, to make sure the VIP card didn't slip inbetween a fold, or get stuck in the bottom, or something like that. -
Can't add much. After a few days, see if your credit card was actually charged.
Check out your old and new accounts and see if one of them has become fully active.
A full account can send tells, and can use the broadcast channel.
Also, it may take a bit to work through the system. Did you try again after a day or two? Try both accounts. -
Joining your server badge channels also helps.
Check out your server forum, and ask for help there, and offer rewards.
Hang out in the appropriate zone, and broadcast that you'd like some help there.
You could also use the /search function, find someone in the level range, and politely ask if they could help you get the badge. Rewards help here too!
I held an event on Victory where we queued up all the Safeguard missions, and ran through them all -
Note on the role of NCOs:
Had an ex-army officer friend. He saw action, got shot a couple of times, and had in his unit a Warrant Officer who had served a long, long time. Crusty, nasty, heavy drinker, but totally rock-solid when things went bad.
"Every time we went out, except for once, I always listened to him."
"What happened the one time you didn't listen to him?"
"I should have listened to him."
On the day of his retirement, he was promoted to Colonel. Died three years later.
My buddy said, even after months of combat, he was one of those guys who seemed just too mean to die. -
Agreed. Definitely get and use your Ourboros Portal for quick transportation across zones and access to Story Arcs you've missed, or ones you want to do again!
If you haven't done the Faultline stories (15-20 and 20-25), I suggest you give 'em a whirl.
