Can someone explain the Re-speccing to me?
respeccing your character will allow you to re-choose the powers you chose, but you cannot pick a new primary or secondary set for your character. You can, however, choose different pool powers, as those are not locked into your character as your primary and secondary are.
More info here!
Respecs let you change Power Choices in your primary and secondary, and which power pools you pick and all the slots you give to either. You can't change the Primary and Secondary pools though. So if you made a Dark/Ice Defender, he's always going to be Dark/Ice, unless you delete and start again.

If you have used it, it's like doing a second build - you pretty much start at the same point.
If you haven't used a second build yet, you can buy going to a trainer after you get to level 10 (or higher) and choose "Choose my build" I think it's called.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess I'm stuck with my Primary and Secondary, but at least being able to re-choose my Power Pool abilities will help...those are really messed up.

... or teach you how to do it yourself, if you don't trust the suspiciously helpful people on here. That will cost you 10% in Auction House fees, though, and there is a slight chance of expensive mistakes.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Don't forget, you can always just make a new character with the sets that you want. We certainly don't frown on that here. If you want to get rid of the old character, but keep any money that you had on it, I'm sure that one of us could help transfer the influence!

Many players returning from a long absence (per your post, from back when the game first came out) can benefit from just starting fresh to get a handle on the various mechanics of the game.
And since we have so many slots available, don't immediately delete your old characters - they may not be as messed up as you think they are. Or at least, after relearning the mechanics of the game with your alts, you will have a better idea of what you want to change.

You can try out respec on the test server to make sure it does what you want, without using it up.
Also, look up multiple builds.
And, check out www.paragonwiki.com for a tonne of info. Be sure to check out Enhancement Diversification. It's a major change on how enhancements work in powers.

Hi,
Kind of new and in reviewing my old characters from when the game first came out, I noticed they are specced really, really bad.
The game was new and I had no idea what I was doing; that's my only excuse.
I understand you can re-spec and pick new powers, but is it possible to re-spec and pick new power categories?
My choices for my Defender are not done too well since I was so new, but I wonder if I spend my free re-spec, can I choose all his powers all over again as if I was starting him all over?
And help would be appreciated, thanks.
