I have at least one friend who's paid up through then end of the year who is refusing to touch the game out of frustration to the changes made recently.
You missed the part where VIPs get 80% of the stuff in the market for free, and the other 20% aren't required for anything in the game, AND that VIPs get 400 - 550 points FREE just by subscribing.

AE Farming creates Market Supply... PERIOD end of conversation. Without it you wouldn't have a buy it now market, they provide the VOLUME of supply to the market. No they aren't the only people listing stuff, but they are providing the volume of stuff that people buy now. Most farmers, are at least amateur marketeers.
Uh, no. AE farming creates gaps in the market. You can only get so much out of randomly rolling bronze or silver rolls. And once you flood a specific side of things via AE, the other side goes up in price. Look at Purple Recipes, and respec recipes, which are completely unavailable via AE farming. Prices for those have SKY ROCKETED due to the large amount of AE farming.

Plus, the Consignment house isn't meant as a 'buy it now' market. Its NOT A STORE. Put your bids up for what your willing to pay, and go from there. AE actually produces LESS inf/hour then normal missions/story arcs, due to no end of mission Inf bonus, no end of story arc bonus, etc. Most of the money you make via AE is based off Marketeering, which can only go so far.

AE Provides a means to progress my characters just fine thank you, and a lot of us find them fun. Just cause our fun and your fun are diffrent doesn't mean it's wrong. High Horse, you need to get off it, come back to reality there and think. We Farm for Inf, Prestige, and Tickets which turn into recipes... We bring along a friend's lowbie who in turn farms our lowbie later, thus we progress a character. How is it not progress...
I'm not going to go into why farming AE is bad. I'll just let the Devs do that themselves, by nerfing the farms best they can.

O and COMMON salvage prices would be fixed with a MARKET cap as I proposed... Read in full please before you rage post TYVM...
    Elvnsword
Market caps are NOT the way to lower prices, they are the way to cause items to be removed from the market. Look at some of the PvP IOs. THE MARKET IS NOT A STORE. You can get any common salvage from just about ANY level range for 10inf if your patient enough. You can get any uncommon salvage for less then 1000inf if your patient, and you can get just about any rare salvage for under 1million inf if your patient. If you want to BUY IT NAO then you have ZERO room to complain about the prices, because YOUR the one paying for them.

I understand Maintenance downtime, as I stated, I am just asking for more warning then the night before as happened last week, some of us don't like getting home from a night shift and finding ourselves locked out of the game.
Stuff happens. Things break. Heck, the servers dropped for 5 minutes the other day, and Zwill, bless his heart, was doing his best to figure out what happened. When there are massive changes in both the servers, and game systems, expect things to break. The devs are doing the best they can.

Coulda swore you couldn't buy uncommons with tickets, and thats what drove up the uncommon salvage prices...
  3. Arbegla

    Frustration...

First off. This is a hybrid model, not pure F2P.

Secondly, 80% of those 'micro-transactions' are available to VIP members for FREE. Plus, VIP members get an allowance of 400 - 550 points to spend on the other 20%, for FREE.

So far, with my free points, and my 15 bucks a month (as in, my normal subscription fee) I've been able to buy everything i want out of the market.

While farmers may help bring in supply to the in game market, they aren't the only driving force, and AE farming actually takes AWAY from the in game market, due to not providing any 'normal' salvage drops. You CANNOT get reliable uncommon salvage drops from tickets, and your not getting a lot of the 'junk' recipes from tickets either. AE was never meant for farming.

Itrials on the other hand, provide both inf, normal salvage, normal recipes, and a means to progress your character, which AE doesn't provide.

Oh, the lastly, downtime is required for a stable game environment. Obviously you were here for the beginning, where we had downtime almost DAILY, if you got more then 2 hours playtime over the weekend that wasn't flooded with lag, you were lucky. The game changes, things improve, and all of it requires taking the servers down. Get over it.

Yeah, i totally saw /regen, and thought it was the scrapper forums, plus i was posting at work, which means i was only giving the forums half my attention.

But it more or less stands. Shadowmeld isn't available to brutes, but Darkest Night is, which is almost as good (massive -damage, and -tohit, on an AoE toggle debuff) and superior conditioning is a means to get more endurance back. I think on average, SC adds a little more endurance then Conserve power does, due to the way +end works (by adding recovery..)

Eh, I've played that other massive game, and when they bring the servers down, its pretty much '12 hours OR MORE' every time. There is no such thing as 'just a 2 hour downtime, we promise guys' So, if they really only patch on patch day (which is tuesday by the way, just like us) then why were the servers so unstable for the latest expansion that people were locked out of the game for 3 weeks? Due to lag, and other massive issues that beta testers weren't able to squash.

You are easily one of the worst posters on this forum because your contribution in threads can be summed up like this:

    Learn2play.

At least GG lays out some compelling arguments from time to time.

Respecs need to happen more commonly to increase interest in the game in my opinion.
If you honestly need to respec your character after every single level, then yes, you really do need to learn2play. As it is, you are given enough respecs that you could basically respec every 10 levels and still have respecs left over....
  8. Why body mastery instead of fire mastery? Why 2 slots in health, but nothing slotted? Why put off BU until level 38? Why are you pulling call of the sandman (a sleep set) into jacobs ladder, your second highest DPA attack? (first being LR) 4 recharges in your mez protection is a waste of slots, due to ED anything over 2 level 50 common IOs is basically wasted.

Just glancing over your set bonuses, it doesn't look like you'll be softcapped to all 3 positions, and even if you are, due to your slotting on your mez protection power, you won't have the DDR to stand up to very many debuffs. You also skipped One with the Shield, which while it has limited uses, is great for when your defense fails, as a means to stay alive. You also didn't take aid self, so you'll have to rely on inspirations (or rebirth, assuming you go that route for your destiny, but it really is the best route to go on a /shield)

The main things you want to look at on a elec/shield is softcapping to all 3 positions, Max HP for higher regen values, high regen to heal up between hits landing, and massive recharge to cycle your AoEs as much as possible. From just looking at your build it seems like you don't met very many of those points, and attempted to frankenslot a lot of your powers, which while it isn't a bad idea, its not the best way to build an elec/shield.

Play with other Beam rifle characters. Solo, on my beam/rad corr, I'm have a very hard time spreading disentrgration around, but when i teamed with just 1 other beam rifle user for a sewer trial, basically every mob we fought was spread. He would tag a boss/LT with disentragration, i would shoot it, it'll spread. It was pretty amazing how much the difference was with just adding 1 more beam rifle user.

While true, tier 5 unlocks them. Which i think is about oh, 12 reward token? Or about $180 worth of points, or about a year subscribing now (used to be 33 months, almost 3 years) And that unlock works forever..

the AT unlocks, as well the other things at unlock via the tier system (inventions, AE, etc) are only there if you flat out refuse to be a VIP customer for any length of time, but still want access to things VIPs have.

  13. Don't you have to click on the door in the tram to enter it? Don't you want to click on the portal in Ouro to leave it? Don't you have to click on doors in pocket D to enter/leave there?

I'm not seeing the issue here, as basically all modes of transportation between zones require clicking something.. Why should hazard zones be any different?

    Salvage

Odd.. What tier VIP are you? maybe its an added meature, or a double drop rate bug due to getting access to inventions from being a VIP and access via the paragon rewards tiers?
  15. Arbegla

    Salvage

Isn't Champion of War a boss? maybe boss and higher mobs have an additional chance to drop an extra salvage on defeat, thus simulating the market?

While true, when you set missions at -1, you end up with blue/white minions, and white/yellow Lts instead of white/yellow minions, and yellow/orange LTs.

Now, granted the power difference between a yellow LT and a orange LT isn't that much, but for some people it can seem like a massive difference and can make or break missions (especially when said orange Lt is really a down graded boss...)

Body mastery (energy mastery) also adds recovery, (physical perfection) endurance management tools (conserve power) Ranged attacks (energy torrent, laser mean eyes) and tohit buff/debuff resistance (focused accuracy)

So its more then just +regen...
  18. Only time its worth it to go power mastery is if your having serious endurance issues on your regen, which high end katana, dark melee, kinetic melee, and broadsword, and other builds have, they also have the means to stack mitigation up, which is what soul is mainly used for (shadow meld) Other then that, power mastery isn't really all that great on a regen.

What about going dwarf form? I know dwarf on a PB isn't as useful as on a WS, but would the extra resistance in dwarf form help you handle voids better?

And you do get to keep it. You don't LOSE anything, they don't hit a massive delete button, and make you start over from scratch.

You just can't USE the powers you already have unless you want to subscribe to the game. It really is that simple.

    1) What is the probability of this going off? I am going to slot it in an auto power (Which I know has a chance every 10 seconds) but what is the percentage? Normally things are listed like 10%, 20%, etc.

    2) What is the value of the heal? Does it vary by Archetype? Is it based on your base hp? Max HP?

    3) How much endurance does it give? Is it based on max endurance?
    According to mids:

    1) the chance for each to go off (and they are independent of each other) is 20% chance every 10 seconds (in an auto power) or 20% every time the power is activated (in the case of a healing aura, or other power that an slot it) So that is 20% for the heal, and 20% for the endurance every time it would proc.

    2) the heal on my MM is about 79 hp every time it procs, which mids says is about 9.83%. On a tanker it would heal 64.6 hp every time it procs, or about 3.45%.. So i'd say it varies on AT, but isn't quite % based..

    3) again, using my MM as an example, it gives 7.5% endurance every time it procs. On a tanker it gives 7.5% endurance as well, so i'm thinking it'll be based on your max endurance on how much end it actually gives back.

Same goes for the ice/cold. Sleet and Heat loss don't really deal very much damage. They are very nice at debuffing, i'll give you that, but without a means to do damage (with ice storm, your single target attacks, etc) your not going to go very far.

So all in all, nice straw man. Your doing great here.

The only argument that i find (in my opinion) valid about the 'exemplaring sucks' is that you lose Set bonuses, but with PvP and Purple recipes that argument is almost null and void in itself. Enhancement values, even when faced with exemplared stats will be higher on an exemplared level 50 to level 20, then they would be on a natural level 20. Available slots will be higher on an exemplared level 50, and you even have access to accolade powers, which you may not have as a natural 20.

We get it, you don't like exemplaring, but saying the only 'viable' powers are those post 26 is just asinine. There isn't enough level 50 content in this game that it is ALL you've been playing for the last 2 years, especially with the weekly strike targets listing a lower then 50 TF more often then it lists a level 50 TF. If you unlocked your alpha slot within the last year, chances are you've played non 50 content.
